novel, great to stay on the water when in Venice
Moored a long way from the main areas, whilst the waterbus stops nearby the address isn't clear as to where you should go to so we took ages trying to find it! (go to the fisola stop then walk left)
The breakfast was good, but not enough space for all on board. Closeness to the Hilton (10 mins)for a good bar and an excellent meal
The cabin was cramped and not as shown on the publicity photographs. The top bunk was almost impossible to get into. The cabin was dark (bulbs missing, no reading lights). The bathroom was appalling, so small it was extremely difficult to use the toilet, no ventilation so room stayed damp for hours, the floor flooded when using the shower and took ages to drain away. The shower turned on when trying to use the toilet. So glad it was only for one night. Do not book this venue.
The facilities in the "premium room" we stayed in were poor. Bedside lamp didn't work. No heating, toilet door frame had rotted away, toilet didn't flush. Although we were invited to make ourselves at home and use the facilities we were screamed at by a man who didn't even tell us who he was, transpired he was the owner who verbally abused us in front of other guests when we went to get some plates to eat our evening meal. Apart from being extremely upset we received no apology for this outburst and in fact the man sent his wife to ask for money . We left that evening after 1 nights stay . We subsequently found out that the claims in their brochure included many factually incorrect statements. Including use of the nearby Hilton hotels facilities for a fee. On transferring to the Hilton for the remainder of our stay we discovered these claims were untrue and the Hilton management were extremely unhappy and were to take action against Sarah Sun Island staff. It also appeared that the sarah sun island is not registered with the authorities as a residence and one wonders why. Be very wary if you book this accomodation. I would suggest that booking .com investigate the credentials of this establishment and avoid being associated with such accomodation as early as possible.
The Hostess, Silvia was very pleasant and the captain was helpful.
The cabin was a double on the older yacht moored along side. This was damp and it was hard to sleep as being so close to the main canal the water slapped the side of the hull every time a vessel passed[often]. The gang plant was dangerous and this should be attended to as a matter of some urgency. The breakfast was poor with no hot milk for coffee, so unless you like espresso, forget it. The croissant had marmalade in it? And the toaster had the wrong setting and burnt the toast. We left and had a great time at the Guidi in Mestre.
The location is near to the water bus stop
The wireless is not reliable and very week. Also the only one TV on the boat was no channels and the DVD player not working. The rooms are very small.
I liked the experience. the boat has a terrace on the top where you can sip your coffee in the morning. Felt luxurious. But please take Gravol with you in case you get water sick/dizziness.
We loved the location as after walking in busy Venice it was very peaceful and relaxing back on the boat top deck with a glass of bubbly watching the world pass by. The breakfast was very good and Sylvia was very good helping with any questions you might have.
The only thing I would say is that the room we had was a bit too small but it didn't spoil anything for us. The experience out weighed everything.
We had a lovely stay on Sarah Sun Island, and it's an experience we'll remember forever. The boat is a quick vaporetto ride to all of Venice's hotspots. We really enjoyed staying outside of the tourist zone. We got to mingle with locals and got a sense of what it's like to live there. The best part of the experience was Maria's hospitality. She was kind and welcoming, and truly went above and beyond our expectations. I came down with a stomach bug the day we arrived in Venice and she took good care of me in my time of need. Breakfast was a wonderful way to start each morning. Our bedroom was very nice. It was small (it's a boat, after all) but comfortable for a few nights.
Wifi was unreliable. Maria was working with her internet provider to fix the problem, so this might not be an issue anymore. We didn't mind because we had more exciting things to do than read email.
No escort to new hotel just find your way. No phone call to inform us of the problems. We wanted something different thats why we went for the boat but ended ip in an ordinary hotel.
Fascinating to watch all the sailing boats on the busy Guiedecca canal. One stop to water bus to Venice main island. Staying on a boat in Venice adds to the overall experience of being in a unique city.
Boat was ready for refresh as tired and unclean in areas. Small attention to detail could have made a big difference. But overall loved this setting.
Location was great. 2 minute walk to the water bus. Good choice at breakfast.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable. We were given the smallest cabin, with smallest bathroom.
Location was good 100m from Waterbus stop. The view from the boat was great.
The economy room we booked, which incidentally we were not being put in because they had a plumbing problem, was not the one in the picture on booking.com. We were given only the option of the bed in the captains bridge and using the lavatory next to the kitchen. No curtains, no door and not clean. We didn't make a fuss as we only had 2 night in venice and we liked the location. Found the hospitality, apart from Sylvia, all too cold and distant and it felt like they were ready to finish the season. Lavatory we had to use which whilst had a shower hose could not be considered ensuite and it also needed a proper clean. The glossy pictures on the web do not reflect the reality which is a tired boat. Would not recommend.
Friendly staff and good breakfast
Be aware that there are 2 boats which you could end up staying on, the 2nd boat is not as glamorous
Smoking with coffee at the fly deck after breakfast
Boat bus is7€ per person and taxi is 60€ from Rialto which makes the hotel more expansive than you think. At first they offered us a room "hasn't got a door" there is only a 5 steps between you and common area. After our refusal they change our room to two bed room and they promised us to change the room next day. Next day they change our room with boat next to it at the boat doesn't has water because of pump failure. Hotel is badly managed for customer service.
We liked the location (away from the crowds), the staff was extremely welcoming, and it was a great experience to be able to stay on a boat.
We did not like the extremely small rooms, we were locked out at nighttime, the boat had engine trouble so we could not participate in the tour of Venice provided by the Sarah Sun Island, and the wifi could not connect.
The boss on the boat, Silvia, was amaising. Everything she das was professional.
David in the Staff ignorera us totalay when we try to get some thing to drink. He was must more intrested to speak in the telefon. The same happed with other cupple fr.o.m. Marocko.
the room was clean, breakfast on the upper deck was really nice, overall a nice experience
the wifi was not working, it's a little bit chilly in the night as there is no heating system
Very nice and friendly staff. Good location. Enjoyable stay.
Maria was fantastic, made us feel very welcome, entertained us with her music and cooked our friend a cake on his birthday. She would stay up till all hours just to check that we all arrived back at the boat and nobody was hungry! If they were, she would cook! Lovely boat, well worth upgrading to the superior room though as it really is the best room on the boat. The rooms below deck can get a little stuffy but we visited during a very hot spell. Location was perfect for a peaceful evening either on deck or in the locals bars near to the boat. Also just a short boat ride to the centre of Venice. If I returned to Venice I would definitely return to Sarah Sun Island and have already told all my friends about it. A unique opportunity to stay on a yacht for a bargain price!
Air conditioning in the rooms below deck could be better, and a few minor mainline nice issues could be resolved. However as I said, Maria more than made up for this by being so lovely.
The location was perfect for us and very convenient to get around Venice Breakfast was great. Hosts were very nice and helpful.
as said on previous reviews this was a lovely experience to stay on a boat and the lady who runs it was lovely, breakfast was good.
The boat is not on the main part of venice so it cost us an arm and a leg to get there then cost us even more just to cross the water to the main part of Venice.took two hours from the airport on the water bus.The bathrooms are a bit old and in need of repair, but the rooms are clean.
Owner is very kind and want to solve all of our problems. we booked by booking.com 3 month ago, but this site didn't informed me that this hotel does not work at my booking days. So we were very nonplussed when we just arrived hotel. But the owner admitted us and served every services which we want. And breakfast was very good. Every morning we can have hot bread and fresh fruits and so on. At last, the location was so so. It is not so easy to find the hotel at once, But if you can read vaporetto stops, you can find the hotel easily. Just take vaporetto no. 2 or no. 4.2 to sacca fisola.
If you have seasick or dizziness, then you must have pills. You can't have sleep because of wake. I slept well during 2 nights, but i can't endure at 3rd night. so i walked outside at 2 am. And air conditioner was not good. sometimes it brings warm air.
Maria the host was very friendly and extremely helpful. The cruise on our first day was also a great way to see the city.
The rooms were very poorly ventilated and had no air conditioning. They became very warm which made sleeping difficult. There was next to storage space.
