Staff very helpful and pleasant.Convenient walking distance to centre and railway station.Historic interesting building.
This is abeautiful small Italian hotel with lots of character and comfort. The staff were very friendly and informative. They gave us hot water and pot for our tea.
Couldn't make a cup of tea or coffee in room. Bright yellow light from street made it hard to get to sleep.
No wifi signal in room
close to town centre and rail station. antique funishings gave the hotel a charming atmosphere. Room was nice and quiet and the staff were helpful.
Room and location
Great location, just about 5-10 mins walking both to Porta Nuova station or historical center. Very nice and helpful staff. Simple but good breakfast. Fresh bakery and not bad capuchino.
The room was a bit dark and small, but think that's not such a big problem
Does not look so fine from outside but once you get in, you will be well surprised
The heating system is closed during the night ... but we get used to
Breakfast location helpful staff
The room was a bit damp Our double bed was 2 singles pushed together
Size and cleanliness of the room; helpful staff; great breakfast
Street noise from traffic
Patricia, the hotel owner, was a very helpful and nice lady. She gave us map and directions to the various places of interest. Nice big beautiful room in historic building. Breakfast spread was good. Verona is beautiful! Would certainly stay here if I were to visit again.
The room was quite dim even in the daytime.
I really felt I was in Italy. The courtyard was everythingI had imagined staying in Italy would be like. My husband and I went to Verona for my 40 th Birthday. I woke up the morning of my Birthday and had breakfast in the courtyard....... It lived up to everything that I had wanted. Anne Kelly
The only thing that I found was that the room that we stayed in off the courtyard was quite dark all the time.
We had a great stay at this hotel. Everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was amazing - it was labeled as a superior double - and had a large sitting room, bedroom and bath just off of the courtyard. It felt very private and was nicely appointed. The breakfast was great, with several options. We only stayed for one night, but wish it had been for more. It is a short walk to the train station and an equally short walk to the city center. Maybe half a mile to each. And the city is very walkable. It felt very much like a home away from home. We would absolutely come back here, and hope to one day!
The wi-fi access in our room was limited, but this was easily overcome by sitting in the courtyard just outside the door, so not a problem at all.
Old period building with lots of character, well maintained, in a very convenient location with nice big bedroom and a bathroom with a big shower. We had a quiet bedroom in the rear of the building. Secure parking was available at a small fee. A family run business, all very friendly and offered great value for money.
It's a small issue really but the TV reception and choice was poor...maybe bring a good book to read instead.
The breakfasts were excellent as was our room and bathroom
Good Breakfast Close to the Railway Station
The staff was friendly, the hotel was within walking distance of train station and sightseeing, the room was quaint, clean, and comfortable. We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
There was nothing we didn't like.
It was a comfortable bed in a nice room. It was easy to find and wasn't far to the main sites. Staff helpfully provided a map and explained where things were.
Breakfast was a little average but that might be because I prefer Seeded wholemeal bread as opposed to white bread.
Great position, lovely welcoming and helpful staff, spotlessly clean room, ample breakfast in lovely surrounds... Hotel Scalzi is excellent value for money. It is delightful.
This is a lovely welcoming hotel which has an excellent quiet location. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the charming owner gave us recommendation for a lovely restaurant. Our room was upgraded free of charge to a wonderful room in the courtyard. There was a good choice for breakfast with a log burner crackling away in the breakfast room. The hotel has super artwork and antique furniture. We would certainly visit again.
Wonderfully helpful staff. Interesting layout of superior room with the bed in a loft above bathroom and sitting area. Excellent breakfasts. Pleasant courtyard where we had a bottle of wine and interesting conversation with another couple. Ideal location for taking in the beautiful sights of Verona.
No cross ventilation. Very humid so everything felt damp in the room.
Hotel Scalzi is in a perfect location in Verona, and is a short 10 mins walk to the main square. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff are so helpful. There was a mix up over the rooms we booked, but they were very apologetic, and it was not a problem. Excellent breakfast served in a pretty dining room with access to the garden.
One of our rooms was on the main road so very noisy at night. The first night was no problem as we put the air con on, but due to the clocks going back the following night, the air con went off and the heating went on!!
Nice small hotel with helpful staff. Only a 5 min walk to the arena. The room was clean and fairly sized.
Our bathroom smelled a little although it was very clean. If you don't like to carry your luggage etc. in stairs then you shouldn't choose Scalzi.
Location and staff were very good
The hotel is conveniently located for both the station and the old town. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the room, although a little noisy as located at the front of the building, was clean and perfectly adequate for a short stay.
We had to keep the shutters closed at night to prevent the ghastly yellow neon sign shining into the room. And Booking.com's map and directions for walking from the station were rubbish - not the fault of the hotel!
