Just over a quarter mile from the Colosseum, Best Western Plus Hotel Milton is by Rome's Basilica of St. John in Lateran. All rooms offer satellite TV channels, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 571 reviews Very good
|Set 100 metres from Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica in Rome, Casa Vacanze Scalone provides self-catering accommodation with free WiFi and a city-view terrace. The Colosseum is a 10-minute walk away.||
Across the road from Campo de' Fiori, the B&B Navona Queen is in a 19th-century building with a panoramic terrace overlooking Rome’s historic center. You can walk to Piazza Navona in 5 minutes.

In central Rome, Il Cantico is just a 5-minute walk from the Vatican. It features contemporary-style rooms, free Wi-Fi throughout, and free private parking. A buffet-style breakfast is provided daily....
Score from 308 reviews Excellent
I liked my room very much and the simple breakfast. I was impressed with how seriously and well my need for a gluten-free breakfast was met. The rooms are spacious by European standards.
Be sure to require a sound proofed room. The first room I had was not and there was a lot of street noise. The second room was sound-proofed. I heard nothing.
The location was outstanding. You may literally walk outside the front door of the B&B and you are at the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hills. In other words you're a few yards from ancient Rome. Across the street is an excavation. You are also steps away from multiple restaurants including a restaurant owned by the B&B. We found the B&B restaurant to be one of the best in Rome. The B&B rooms were modern, convenient and well appointed. You are ideally located by excellent transportation (i.e., Tourist Buses & Taxi's). Andrea, the staff Manager was excellent and made the stay exceptional. The hotel and restaurant staff were terrific. I would recommend this hotel because of the staff, location and accommodations.
Minden csodás volt! Gratulálunk ehhez a tökéletes szállodácskához :) Everything was wonderful! Congratulation to this really perfect small hotel!
The rooms are modern, exceptionally clean and very comfortable.
Being above a noisy bar, don't expect to get any sleep until at 3.00am
The room was above two bars and was quiet. The proximity to everything was perfect.
Excellent location in front of the Coliseum, 5min walking from Metro station and other public transportation, very close to most of the Ancient Roman attractions
Very Poor Breakfast,
Really nice and friendly staff, always happy to help and with excellent knowledge of the city of Rome.
Everything was perfect.
Close to Coliseum and the forum great transportation. Excellent staff!
Room was in need of some repair.
Staff at the B&B, plus staff at Coming Out Bar
View was not what we were expecting
The accomodation was great, right next the Colosseum. Andrea did a fantastic job in making my stay pleasant and comfortable. He was always pleasant and helpful, particularly when I became ill. Coming Out was a great experience too, the food and most of the service was fantastic.
we loved the location.across from the colusum.
The location can't be beat: it's virtually across the street from the Colosseum and walking distance to both the A and B Metro lines. Most of the sites are will within reach from this location. Andrea and the whole staff were friendly and very helpful. Will defiantly stay here again.
- Friendly staff - either a very nice room with a balcony or a nice room with a view of the colosseum w/ a balconette. There is a reception on every floor.
- Extremely difficult to check-in. The hotel has no signage except for the typical rainbow symbol (yet another unaffiliated store nearby has it also). If you check-in at night, you will have to get it in their busy bar at the ground floor. You will have to go up the stairs with your baggage. There is no receptionist on late nights and on Sundays.
Andreas is a great guy. Very helpful and friendly. Location perfect and safe.
From USA and needed an electrical adaptor. Room was minimal, but had space. Shower drain a problem but location made up for small issues.
Location. Nice staff. And even though it is a gay hotel and I am straight the staff made me feel comfortable.
No iron for ironing cloth, no elevator you have to carry luggage up a high narrow stairway.
Large room, comfortable double bed, two huge windows, air conditioning, clean, powerful shower, toilet and bidet, very good location for historic centre, convenient for metro and tram, quiet.
More electric power point sockets, not very many outstanding restaurants in the immediate area.
super friendly staff very central location, right at the colosseum, close to the metro station and in walkable distance to the center
Room was clean and spacious . Andrea was very warm and welcoming. Location was great! Breakfast was good. Great value for the price.
Front room was a bit noisey at night. Prefer to stay in one of the back rooms.
The room is modern and so so central. I loved staying here.
Good location, friendly staff
Very sad breakfast, room was dusty, wifi very bad, small room for a high price.
Location next to Colloseum is incredible. Staff friendly enough but try to brush up on your Italian as not great English, helpful & very smiley. Really lively location, can't fault it.
Room needed some tlc. Shower was terrible, barely got a dribble & flooded the bathroom on the second shower of the night when it failed to drain. Hotel good is not the best, turn right as you leave the hotel & head up there for a pizzeria.
Right next to the Colosseum, so top location! Nice, large room. Nicely decorated.
It has been mentioned before: when you arrive at night (after 5pm, reception is only manned during the day) the check-in procedure is a bit weird. You have to enter the (gay) bar to get the key. There is no real check-in procedure. No ID check. No administration. One of the waiters just takes you to your room and hands you the keys. When we arrived (on a wednesday) around 11pm the street was packed with people. This part of the street markets itself as 'gay street'. The bathroom had a funny smell (sewer) and you could smell it every time we entered the room. There was also a funny thing about the bathroom. The one in our room had a very low ceiling. I had to bend to brush my teeth. After a few days it got a bit on my nerves. The breakfast is very basic. You get a coffee, orange juice, sweet pastry, (packed) toast and some Nutella and jam. So nothing hearty for breakfast. The last few days we skipped breakfast as it got a bit boring. We stayed in a room on the 1st floor and at night there was a lot of noise from the bar on the ground level. It didn't bother us that much, since we were pretty tired every night and around 1pm peace and quietness usually returned. But if you're a light sleeper, I would recommend a room on the higher floor. Another strange thing was that there was no real check-out procedure. Though there was someone at reception all he did was take our room key and wish us a nice day. No invoice. And when we said that we still had to pay, he told us that he had already taken the amount from my credit card. To be clear: I never had to show any ID or credit card. They just took the amount from my Visa through booking.com. On the one hand it was all very hasslefree, on the other hand it all felt a bit odd.
Andrea was always extremely attentive and helpful. Always did all he could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Suzie was gracious and friendly and made every effort to make us comfortable.
The internet is a problem. At least in my room, it was intermittent. The association with "Coming Out" is an excellent one. The staff there, in general, is polite and helpful. Only once did I have an extremely unpleasant experience with one of the managers. After waiting almost an hour after the delivery of my meal and still waiting for that of my guest, I politely pointed out to her that "there was a problem." She was extremely dismissive and quite hostile. I and my guest had dined at Coming Out everyday during our stay of one week. This is not the way good and respectful customers should be treated. It was the one unpleasant experience that marred an otherwise pleasant stay in Rome.
Andreas was super friendly and helpful! Great customer service Comfy bed and quiet rooms, best sleep I have had in 2 months of travel Great shower Within walking distance of all attractions - great location
Wifi could be a bit patchy - we were in the Freddy Mercury room and had to connect to the wifi close to the door (then could go anywhere in the room and it generally worked fine). Toilet was a little smelly - spray helped
liked the cleanliness and polite staff
continental breakfast was poor and would have been nice to know when booked that it is a gay hotel located on gay street.
