It was a warm welcome from Alberto, comfortable room and great info about the city really made a lovely visit. I would really recommend staying here!
Very hospitable owner/ host. You feel like you are part of a family. Very good breakfast which they prepare and set for you. Rooms are basic, but large and clean. We were able to sleep well here.
It is close proximity to train station. You can hear them sometimes, but personally didn't bother us.
Owner Alberto is extremely helpful and nice. Location is good - 10 min walk from the very center of the city. 15 min walk in other direction - and there's a big and quiet park. There is also a kitchen where you can have a cup of tea or even cook smth at any time.
Alberto; Breakfast; Room very clean and spacious; Home made cookies :)
Breakfast could have more salty food.
The host is helpful and nice. Wi-fi, air-conditioning worked well.
Concerning the location all in all it was not very convenient for us. It takes around half an hour to get to the city center by foot ( 15 min to the train station, plus around 15 to the city center). It was especially hard to come back in the evening after a long walk around the town ( bus stop is rather far and it's no use to take a bus to come back). The main thing we were disappointed with was dirty floor both in the room and in the bathroom. Even on the second day after our arrival the floor towel eas changed although it was black because of dust:(
Alberto is a friendly guy. Breakfast in his pension is some kind of game with cookies and pastries. It's so close to the railway station and the city center. No public transportation is necessary.
Mosquitos and noise produced by elevator and some device in the bathroom (water compressor or something like that...)
This B & B is located just 10 minutes from the train station, which was ideal for us. The twin beds were super comfortable, the bedroom and bathroom had enough space, the shower had good pressure and sufficient hot water, the AC worked well, and the breakfast prepared by the owner was, I am told, a typical Italian breakfast, with extra touches. The owner was very helpful with recommendations and suggestions. The site advertises "toiletries" which is stretching it a bit, as there was only liquid soap/gel.
Since it was close to the train station, there was alot of street noise and the curtains were thin allowing too much light into the bedroom for light sleepers.
I liked the accommodations, spacious triple room is equipped with air conditioning, large and clean bathroom, courtesy of Mr. Alberto, can be reached on foot from the train station and in the historical centre of Florence.
It would be desirable to have breakfast and salty products, are not usual to eat only sweets for breakfast. The room have window and balcony facing the railroad which was a certain discomfort .
Alberto is a great host and makes up for any shortcomings in any other respects - he is full of knowledge and advice, and as a former chef he will let you know where the best restaurants are.
Location is rather inconvenient and there is no particularly good way to get back at night, because the bus routes drop you off a ways from the hotel (although the bus stop to go downtown is closer). Streets are a little empty at night - but do not seem to be unsafe, judged by old ladies walking alone etc. If you get a block or two from the route back to hotel, there are in fact some cafes etc - perhaps Alberto can give info about that.
Alberto is an excelent host, we were very confortable in his b&b. The room was huge and the bathroom very nice. The breackfast was excelent! Such a personalized attentio. The location is very confortable to move around Florence
Nothing. Our staying was great.
The continental breakfast was nice, the room was spacious, the bathroom was big, the wifi worked well.
The parking garage is quite a distance away ~400 meters.
The host is a very nice guy, who is indeed helpful. The room is comfortable and clean. Breakfast is great.
I booked a single room and was given a spacious room with double bed. Alberto is friendly and offered travel info.
The host/owner of the establishment is the most helpful and attentive person you'll meet in Italy, always ready to help you with anything you need. The location is great, close to the center of Florence and the train station. The breakfast is great; all the items are made by the owner himself.
My mom stayed here while visiting me, and couldn't stop talking about how much she loved it. When she goes back to the states, I know she'll be raving about Alberto far more than she will about "the David" - Alberto was very helpful to her!!
She had some issues with the wifi, and was a little scared in the location. It's close to everything, for sure, but it might be a little intimidating to folks who don't know Florence. - it's near the center, but not in the center. Also, I saw some stains on the throw on the bed. The bathroom and shower are not actually in the room in her room.
Host is very nice and very professional. Offers a good breakfast and has nice suggestions on what to visit in the city. Nice location close to the railway station.
The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. It's not too far from the train station and Florence isn't too big so it's also not a huge walk to get to the main square.
The owner was confused that it wasn't just one person in the booking and charged us more money for an extra bed that wasn't needed because the first bed was large enough for two people.
Florence isn't that big so everything is within walking distance. Approximately 15 minutes from hotel to train station. Alberto is really friendly and helps you plan your stay if you want. Furthermore he is really interested in your stay and wants you to enjoy.
The owner is extremely nice. I really felt like I was home
Alberto is a gracious host, and incredibly welcoming. He is very attentive to emails, allowing us to check in later than the reception time. Location is great-- close to the train station, and also close to many of the important museums in Centro Storico.
Mosquitoes are a constant problem in Florence, even when it is winter. The window nets weren't sufficient-- maybe buying bug spray will help.
Little things: the charm and hospitality of Signore Alberto. Appealing attention to detail, and a thoughtfully prepared breakfast, a decent variation on the classic travelers pastry affair. I'd go back.
Getting near the end of the trip, getting a bit sick of small single beds - not Alberto's fault, of course, but there you go.
I WILL BE BACK!
I had to go home...
At La Coccinella, they don't miss a detail. From the clean towels in a lovely confection on our bed at arrival, to the delicious, home-baked pastries and pancake at breakfast, our smallest needs were met. While not in the historic district, the B&B is in a quiet location, easily reachable (2 stops on the #22 or #23 bus) from the train station. I've had many sleepless nights in B&Bs in Firenze city center. At La Coccinella, I slept soundly despite its location near the train tracks and major thoroughfares. And for you summer travelers, La Coccinella has mosquito-netting on the windows, sorely lacking in many other B&Bs in Firenze.
Alberto, who operates the hotel, was very helpful with info about Florence - what's to see and how to get there and also info about the rest of the travel in other cities. He is a very talkative, but in a good sense of the word. If you are the first time in Florence, it is a very good option.
Clean, friendly, safe.
typical very sweet breakfast as in all Italian B&B
