They tried to put me first in a very low quality similar hotel of them
The Sonya is centrally located within a short walk from the train station and all of the hot spots in the city. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
The wifi was spotty. For a good connection, we had to go to the lobby.
Light indicators in the elevator
Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast
Location easy to walk to major attractions. Clean. Breakfast is adequate and a reasonable variety.
Lots of little things need fixing and the pillows are just slabs of foam which were extraordinarily uncomfortable....bring your own pillow or ask for another?
The location of the hotel was convenient and the breakfast was very good in a quaint room.
We stayed there twice - pre and post cruise. Both times we were put in the "newer" building at Hotel Opera. Our pre-cruise room was very small and dark. We asked for a better room post cruise, so it was much bigger and brighter. The staff on our return was not helpful and when we ordered a cab for an early morning departure, we specifically asked for the set fee price. The cab they arranged overcharged us.
It was exactly as we had been led to believe
Location, not far from train central & bus stops
Pillows were like rocks, but that was true everywhere in Italy
Pretty good location for walking or subway to many sites and main train station can be walked to/from. Helpful staff.
Bathroom really, really small.
Room had not been cleaned totally before arrival (paper rubbish in dressing table drawer from previous visitor). Two single rooms booked yet we were put on different floors and given totally different rooms (one single and one double) which was not very fair for us.
Close to the station, buses and the opera house. Good breakfast, quiet rooms and a very quaint old fashioned open lift! Room was a good size. Good air conditioning.
It was close to the train station and city bus. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The noise. People's voices carry throughout the building.
Cleanliness and position (pulizia e posizione)
I booked a room in Hotel Sonya and, after 1 night, I was moved to a B&B called Hotel Opera Roma. The room was incredibly small, hard to move inside. The smallest space I've ever seen, like a cell. It had no number, written "Private" on the door. No wi-fi and no foreign Tv channels. I wouldn't recommend: you cannot know what you can find (Avevo prenotato una camera all'hotel Sonya e, dopo una notte, sono stato spostato all'affittacamere Hotel Opera Roma. La stanza più piccola mai vista, come una cella, senza numero ("privato" scritto sulla porta), impossibile muoversi all'interno, wi-fi disattivato e nessun canale televisivo per stranieri. Non lo consiglio: non è possibile sapere cosa ci attende.
Location was great
Rooms were small Small breakfast selection
Hot breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Polite front desk, helped me get tickets printed for tour. Close to restaurants and gelato shop! We would stay here again.
The room was clean and all necessities provided.
The evening clerk was very rude.
rooms are a bit drab, could use more lighting.
I liked the room. Everything worked well. The drilling outside the hotel was not the fault of the hotel. The breakfast was very good. However more variety each morning would be better.
I did not like being on the 5th floor because of the elevator which is very old fashioned and cannot accommodate more than 300 lbs. There would be problems in case of a fire.
Made reservation at Sonya, but upon arrival was put up at their apparent partner down the street, Opera Hotel, which was fine.
The staff were excellent, printed off boarding passes without charge, good breakfast
It was the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in but it was beautifully appointed.
location and pleasant manner of staff.
The style of the hotel, the staff were, in the main, friendly and helpful. It was a nice place to stay in a good location. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Not far from the station and the Metro.
The pillows and bed were rather hard
Can't comment as I didn't get past reception. I had booked Hotel Sonya 10 months in advance, but when I arrived I was taken to their other hotel Opera, which was very nice. Apparently there is only 1 single room at each hotel.
Not seeing the hotel which I had chosen so far in advance.
friendly people, good breakfast, good beds. Located in the center of Rome and yet a relaxed location.
We had very noisy neighbours
