Fantastic quiet place near everything you need to see in old city
Location Good cappuccino at breakfast
We liked the new bathroom even so as it was very small. The room was very nice. The television was complicated and dido not cater much for English or German speakers.
Hotel Sonya is great value, the rooms are modern, well appointed and clean. The location is great for Rome sightseeing, shopping and restaurants. I travel around the world quite a lot and Hitel Sonya in one of the best paces I've stayed in this price range.
Staff was highly cooperative n friendly...ready to help...breakfast was too good...location was excellent..hotel was really clean.
We were delighted with our accommodation which proved to be every bit as good as was advertised. It was very clean and the location was perfect for us to use the trains, buses and subway and to access good restaurants. We also found the desk and wait staff to be very personable. We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.
There was ample room in the unit for an added dresser with drawers which would be nice for a stay longer than one night. More hooks in the main room would be very useful.
Only good point about this hotel is its location.
The hotel is generally not clean as compared to other 3* hotels that I have stayed brfore. Facilities are outdated. The shower is very small, even you cannot stand inside it easily. :-(
I liked everything about it. I will stay again when I visit Rome.
Nice breakfast,near to the station,clean room,renovated wc
Problem with the channels of tv,old elevator
location was ok for heading out in the city to see the sights. They had a good breakfast. However it was limiting for myself and my niece as we are celiac and she is vegan. I did put that info. in when I booked it.
The room was old and outdated and rather small for 3 adults with our suitcases. I expected a little better. Also we had a few issues with the toilet and the drain in the shower didn't drain very well while in it. They did come and fix the toilet.
The room was large for Europe, the bed was ok but pillows not nice, the staff were mostly very good with one exception. Very helpful and polite - very nice staff serving at breakfast. Breakfast was very good. Location was good. Everything was clean.
I expected from other reviews and from Rick Steeve's recommendation a slightly more modern, larger, nicer hotel and was taken aback when we arrived and saw it was very small, old (which is ok!), dark, poor layout of the room, just one chair in the room, room decor was dark rather than cheery, unsafe railing from first floor due to way elevator was installed.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and large enough for 2 plus 5 large bags. The location was convenient with restaurants nearby. Hop on hop off bus stop nearby. Wide variety for breakfast which was included. Excellent value!
The elevator was old but not unusual for the age of the building.
We had elevator problems the day we checked out and almost missed our train! It's an old elevator and very slow.
Nice hotel on a very convinient location. Clean and cosy room. Great breakfast and perfect staff. I would recommend it without second thought. Thanks for the lovely stay.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast.
The hotel is situated within walking distance from Termini Stations and other historical landmarks. It's clean and elegant, the staff polite and helpful.
The credit card details I gave at the time of my online booking was charged without me knowing.
Did not like the pillows-too flat.
Central location was very convenient
Too expensive for the standard of service it offers.
I loved the location! So close to everything! Walking distance to the train that takes you directly to the airport. Great shopping location and within walking distance to many major tourist sites. The bathroom was modern and had everything you would need. The bed was very comfortable and the breeze from the window was pleasant.
I felt like it was in a more unclean part of the town. The elevator mechanism was filthy and the fact that it held only 3 people it was difficult to use many times leaving us to walk the 4 flights of stairs. The room had a peculiar smell that dissipated by opening the window but was present when the window was not open.
The location The room The breakfast The staff
The elevator No sitting lounge
Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfasts! Excellent location close to good shopping and train station.
Location is Great for Metro Access and is in a good neighborhood. Breakfast, European style, is very good for a small hotel and service is good.
Have stayed in Rome many times and this has got to be the smallest room in the hotel. Two people, nor a suitcase could pass through between the bed and a desk. I have also never stayed in a hotel that did not provide facial tissues. The ac began dripping on our last night there - but to the credit of the hotel, was fixed by the time we returned from dinner. Staff did not live up to the standard that Rick Steve's lauded from a few years ago. They just didn't seem eager to help you, though never refused. They are in process of some renovation, and that might help, otherwise, this is currently what I consider to be a mediocre hotel operation, but with an excellent location.
He room was spacious with a great bed & shower. Staff lovely. They breakfast is freshly baked with meats and cheeses, hard boiled eggs, a kind of of egg quiche, vegetable frittata, and plenty of express is or cappuccinos to start your daily. Wifi was free & reliable. 3 computer desks. We took buses everywhere with our 2 day Roma Pass. Location is good. We took trains North from Roma Termini which was walking distance although we took a taxi to take bags. Excellent all around.
Hotel was great and central. Do your research and do not try to cram in too much.
Rome itself was dirty and smelly and had pick pockets and beggars everywhere. Very challenging with a multi billion dollar industry such as Catholicism just down the road and postcards if the Pope!!
