The food is good, but not at the same level

Caring, welcoming, multilingual management and staff. Fabulous view over the lake, especially from the restaurant/breakfast room.

Hotel was immaculate and well designed with luxurious finishings. Plenty of chairs / beds around pool / beach area. Staff always efficient. Food, although pricey, was excellent. Eating breakfast on the terrace was a delight. Rooms clean with luxurious fixtures and fittings. Ideally situated for the lake with excellent views.

You feel you are being subjected to the taking of as much additional money as possible. Although advertised as "spa" hotel, the health club is an additional cost to use. Free WiFi for guests is a must for any modern hotel. Not only does the Splendid charge for WiFi, the rates are possibly the highest in Europe. Over €20 per day! Not a good way to treat guests who are already paying a significant amount of money. Breakfast should also be included in the price of the room. No hotel "shuttle" facilities to even the local station, let alone an airport! Business conferences and weddings will be given priority treatment over guests (due to the additional money involved?), including the closing of the restaurant to guests, making them eat in external restaurant facilities during the night of a storm.

Fabulous location and delicious food. Only stayed one night but would definitely come back for more. Love the italian glamour and whole ambience.

Breakfast pricey

The hotel raiting is between 4 and 5 stars. Very good location and service. Good restaurant, but rather expensive.

The hotel looks fantastic and has a beautiful view over the lake. The busy road is not splitting the hotel from the lake like it is het case with many of the other hotels in this area. Rooms (also the standard twin) has enough room for 2 and is very clean. Sun beach is the best of all hotels in this area. Location is ca. 10 min. walk to the center. Center of Baveno is very small. Stresa is nice, not so big but more choice in restaurants. Walking from Baveno to Stresa is taking ca. 1 hour. There is not a sidewalk but there is a very beautiful walking trail going through the hills with great views. From Stresa you can take a one way ticket back to Baveno with the fairy for 4,40 euro pp.

It's a luxrious hotel and with this comes also high cost for everything besides the cost of the room. Parking 10 euro a day, breakfast 16 euro a day pp (therefor not used), internet 22 euro per 10 hours.

We had a splendid stay at this beautiful hotel. Great location! Beautiful hotel and renovaded in 2009. We had a room with a beautiful wall painting. The family who runs the hotel is very friendly and helpfull. I can say that we stayed several times in a 5 star hotel that was absolutely less then this hotel. Breakfast was 16 euro a person and not what on the site of Booking.com was 25 euro. Morning breakfast at the lake, nice pool, nice quite private beach. Nice park and flowers. What can I say. I hope to visit them again.

Super excellent modern hotel with a fantastic view to the lake and the mountain. There are 3 sides of the hotel looks to the lake. I have paid 30 Euro extra for a lake and pool view superior room. The room has a very long l shape Balcony with one segment look to the pool and lake while the other is looking to the mountain. The dinner on the lake is a fantastic option and the quality is very good.

20 % over price for everything in the restaurant from the breakfast to the cafe ! However the quality is good.

What a wonderful hotel! It is right on the water, the cleanest rooms I have seen in a long time! It is just such good value for money!

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Spendid in a junior suite. Our suite was lavishly decorated and very Italian with a wonderfully comfortable bed a fantastic balcony and stunning views of Lake Maggiore. The hotel is lovely and beautifully appointed with crystal and marbe everywhere. It is a big hotel with great facilities and on a good section of the lake for swimming. The Hotel is located in the lovely litre town of Baveno, just a few minutes walk from the ferry a town centre, and just 4km from Stresa if you want more action. Also very close to the Lake's main attraction of Isole Bella. The hotel staff very pleasant and helpful and there was good onsite parking - always a bonus and a relief in Italy. A lovely, quiet, elegant and peaceful place to stay - would definitely stay there again.

We had been travelling for some time so could not face any more enormous Buffett breakfasts so we had the basic continental breakfast in our room - at 16 euros each it was expensive and sadly the cornetti were usually stale. Better to just grab a fresh cornetto and a coffee in town for a third of the price. The food and beverage across the board was pretty pricey - much better value to be had in local restaurants close by.

We arrived for one night in this glamorous, stylish hotel looking very scruffy. The staff could not have been more helpful or charming; the hotel is the only one in Baveno directly on the water and we were given rooms with a lake view/ balconies even though the booking was for mountain side views. A little jetty and tiny 'beach' made lake swimming a pleasure; an Italian wedding party made it all feel Fellini-ish. Cocktails, breakfast and a swift pre-departure lunch were all impeccable. Our lasting impression was of real courtesy and interest in our well being. A perfect stay on the glorious lago maggiore. Grazie a tutti, ci vediamo.

A 'Splendid' Hotel indeed and in a lovely location by the lakeside and near other nice facilities. The room was beautifully appointed and immaculate as was the bathroom and shower (although no bath). The staff were extremely polite and accommodating. Secure garage parking was available at 10 Euro/night. The restaurant food was of acceptable quality and realistic price and the sensible wine list likewise.

We found the beds to be too hard (we're in our 70's) and the 'nothing special' buffet breakfast very expensive at a quoted 25 Euro p.p. although we were actually charged 16 Euro for the one hotel breakfast we had..The desk didn't inform us of the price change.10 Euro is reasonable for a continental breakfast. The most irritating practice is the requirement to sign a 'chit' for each item served by the restaurant instead of presenting just one chit at the end. The maitre 'd explained this could be avoided if you booked for half or full board instead of room alone (as we do) or bed and breakfast!! Weird. Seems like a penalty!

Well located, nice private "beach", good restaurant. Connected to a public parc, very good for children. Very friendly staff.

Charging wi-fi, parking space and babycot seems quite petty for a good 4-star hotel.

Staff was very friendly and the Hotel has good facilities and a private beach at the lake. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Wir waren nun schon zum zweiten Mal über Pfingsten im Hotel, auch diesmal nur lobenswerte Worte, es hat alles gepasst, waren sehr zufrieden, auch das Abendessen sowie das Frühstück einsame Spitze, vilene Dank auch an das freundliche aufmerksame Personal. Schöne Grüsse bis demnächst

Zeer mooi en luxe hotel waar je voor een hele leuke prijs kunt overnachten.

Houd er wel rekening mee dat voor extra's als parkeren, Wi-Fi of een ontbijt er apart betaald moet worden en de rekening dan dus kan oplopen. Je kunt natuurlijk ook in de buurt een ontbijtje voor een paar euro nuttigen! Auto is een must!

Tout ! Personnel vraiment charmant et à l'écoute du client (peut- être s'en inspirer en France !!!), hôtel de classe avec un style très particulier et environnement magique. A recommander
