Offering a private beach and swimming pool, Hotel Splendid is set right on the lakeside, 5 minutes' walk from Baveno centre. It offers panoramic views across the mountains and Lake Maggiore. Rooms are elegant and spacious with carpeted or wood floors and classic furniture. They offer lake or mountain views, plus a flat-screen TV, laptop-sized safe and minibar. Each one has a private bathroom with a hairdryer and toiletries. The restaurant serves Italian cuisine. It features an outdoor terrace and has panoramic views of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. The pool at the Splendid Hotel features a hydromassage area. Lovely 4 star quality hotel. Beautiful location. Great hotel but the local village had little to offer and the staff in local restaurants were not very friendly.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. We loved it. Planned to stay one night and decided to stay three once we got there. The staff was great, the grounds were wonderful. We paid for a mountain view and since they were not fully booked they bumped us to water view for no charge. The hotel is right on the water, unlike other hotels in the area. It was peaceful, quiet, and luxurious. I can only dream to go back there one day! You had to pay for internet, pay for parking, pay for breakfast, and pay for the hot tub.

Next to the lake with a great view. We booked a junior suit that was excellent - spacious, luxury and great view from the big balcony. Spacious underground car parking (which is paid as there is generally a lack of pakring spaces in the area). The location on the map at Booking.com and the hotel address were misleading (i think on intention by hotel owners) - the hotel is in fact situated on the wrong end of Baveno - far away from Stresa. By looking into the map at booking.com and the address given, one would think it is a walking distance from Stresa, but in fact it is not - you need a car. Extremely expensive breakfast not included into the room rate.

We thought everything about the hotel was fabulous. Will definately be recommending it to family and friends. The hotel also upgraded us to lake view at no extra charge because they had the rooms available.great service. Friendly staff.lovely decor.

Stunningly gorgeous decor, sumptuous rooms and ideal location however, the very best thing about the Hotel Splendid is the outstanding service. The staff are extremely professional, vastly entertaining (just try a late night cocktail!) and go out of their way to provide all the personal touches that lift a great stay into the sublime. Can't wait to return - this hotel is well worth the trip from Australia!

The bartender was fantastic. His recommendations were by far the best places we ate at during our stay. We enjoyed talking with him after our dinner out. We will return to the location but not too sure we will stay here again as the main staff seemed very standoffish. Everything was at an extra cost here. Breakfast, fitness room, parking, Wifi. At first the price seemed ok but when you add all the extras, it was costly. Gym facilities were rather limited. Expected much more.

The members of staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was in a beautiful position overlooking Lake Maggiore. The facilities were excellent I would agree with another review that it deserves to be a 5* Hotel. I upgraded to a junior suite with a balcony overlooking the lake a few days before hand, I am pleased that I did as the view was beautiful. My sons' room overlooking the road and the mountain behind was still very good and spacious with a sofa bed if we had needed it. The cost of the breakfast is expensive at 15 Euros each but I thought the cost of the rooms was good value reflecting the exclusion of breakfast. (particularly the twin bedded with the mountain view at 105 Euros per night as four family members could have slept in there).

Everything. I was also extremely pleased that the internet rate quoted on Booking.com (use of wi-fi rate) was inaccurate. It was 5 Euro for 1hr; 10 Euro for 2hrs; and 20 Euro for 10hrs. The hours were summative - if you logged off you still had your remaining time later. This made the 10hr deal good compared to the price quoted by Booking,com, If I had to find a fault, it would be the price of parking - although this is in line with many in the area as space (geographically) is very limited,

A very high quality hotel with an outstanding location on the shores of the lake. The staff were all very professioinal and friendly. Our room was a Junior Suite which was very comfortable and decorated to a very high standard with a large balcony overlooking the lake Although we knew breakfast was not included in the room rate, the standard of the food available for 15 Euros was disappointing.

The hotel is on the lake Maggiore lakeside, 10 minutes walk from Baveno. It is very luxoriously decorated, has a small outdoor pool, with a large sun bathing area, a private beach on the lake with plenty of sunbeds, a large bar area indoors and out, and a spa with sauna, steam room and spa pool. We had a junior suite which was fabulous, large and very comfortable. A balcony overlooked the lake and was great to watch the sunrise, and very private to sunbathe. Marble bathroom had a large whirlpool bath, double shower, bidet and 2 sinks. Lounge was large with comfortable settees, nicely wood panelled. Restaurant and service were excellent. Staff were exceptional. Suggest using the Alibus from Malpensa airport, 9 euros and dropped off at the hotel - perfect. It is a little outside of Baveno, but Baveno does not have much to offer itself.
