The breakfast was nice and the sitting area was very modern. Unfortunatlely I was very dissapointed with the Hotel and I wont be reccomending it. The reason I booked the hotel was because it advertised Canal views. I paid for a room that was advertised with a canal view, the only view I had was into the house opposite. I did complain to recpetion and they just said it does a have a view. I paid alot of money for the room 319. But frankly it wasn't worth it. I will be making a full complaint.

The location was fantastic and the hotel was based on a canal with a magical vista, the room was small but clean and well kept and with a room with a veiw - our window directly overlooked both waterways and gondolas ! Great bed and high quality bed linen used...The hotel design was modern with some moorish touches in the lighting and decoration, a clean, restful and picture perfect stop in Venice....very centrally located. Breakfast is to be avoided, despite a well lit and airy dining room , the quality of the food and coffee was very poor. Sadly this is an area the hotel is saving money on and it let down an otherwise wonderful stay! Any local coffee shop can provide good coffee and not the strange and cheap tasting blend the hotel used - disappointing also to find cheap sachets of coffee in the bedrooms and no cafetieres? This took the edge off a very good hotel....and unless the price drops or the food improved we would not return....

The location is fantastic right on the strip to San Marco and on a quiet canal which makes you feel like you are right in the heart of Venice! The bar is beautifully decorated downstairs and the big windows and free lobby Wi Fi make it a relaxing spot to check your emails!! The rooms are modern, spacious and well appointed. If you stay here get a superior room on the canal. The staff are aloof and not helpful. It is a very busy hotel with lots of groups traveling from the us and Japan so the lobby is chaotic noisy and busy. The breakfast is average but then you must remember that the Italians don't 'do' breakfast, so by their standards it is good! I found the rooms really stuffy and hot and the air conditioning didn't seem to kick in. Don't leave the windows open as whilst the sound f the canal is romantic the Mosquitos are huge. Plus the church bells ring very very loudly from midnight!!!!

The decoration of the room is comfortable. I enjoy the time staying in the room. Excellent staff is helpful and let us know how to travel anywhere in Venice. And, the breakfast is nice. The hotel is situated between S. Marco and Rialto, just walking distance to these two places and easy access to the transport.

Perfect Location, eating facilities fantastic including a nice bar, the mix of elegant design and cosyness was relaxing, cleaning staff was friendly and sometimes helpful Not all of the reception-people are friendly, only 1or2 people at the very small reception desk is not enough for so many guests, especially when a group arrives, I asked for evening room service 3 times, the reception agreed that this was usual but nothing happened, we had to close the heavy curtains ourselves, which was very difficult, because the Room was quite small and packed with furniture

The room we had was excellent and had a balcony overlooking the canal. The room was big for Venice and very clean and well appointed and modern. The bar and restaurant are very good indeed with friendly staff. It was hard to find from the map. Better directions to find the hotel would help.

Room was comfortable and spacious. Included a nice breakfast. Good value. Location was great for shopping and restaurants Water taxi could not go to dock due to water levels so we were dropped off quite far from the hotel with a lot of luggage. Cost us an extra 25 euros to have a porter take our luggage to the hotel. This was very difficult and inconvenient.

We liked the location as it was near to the major attractions and there were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The communal areas of the hotel which were nicely air conditioned were quiet and comfortable, plenty of quiet corners to go and retreat to with free wi-fi.The breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were on a noisy laneway and as we were on the first floor we could not open the curtains. The rooms were therefore very dark and were also in the unrenovated part of the hotel. We did not like any of the restaurant recommendations made by the staff (they are told by the hotel which restaurants they can recommend as there are agreements between the hotel and restaurant according to a staff member). They were overpriced and touristy and we found the food of very average quality compared to other places we have eaten in Italy.

The location of the hotel is fantastic and the hotel has been recently renovated to offer all modern conveniences while retaining the charm of an old Venetian palazzo with gondolas passing right beside it. While this hotel is only a few minutes walk from S. Marco and the Rialto, there is just enough peace and quiet as you are away from noise and the tourists around the Grand Canal. Great buffet breakfast in a sunlit atrium and friendly staff made this a perfect holiday spot. No free Wi-Fi in the room.

Good location within the city. Staff was friendly and helpful. If you are not familiar with the city, this was extremely difficult to find. I would suggest quick directions be included with the booking. For example, take a water taxi to this specific address. Or, take the ferry to this stop and then take the following street to reach the hotel.

Starhotels Splendid Venice is so close to significant places like Rialto bridge or San Marco square that they are truley right on their motto "we are at the heart of the city". Design and furnitures of hotel are also very nice.

The Splendid was clean and comfortable, and in a fabulous location. The rooms are very nicely decorated, though not as characteristic of Venice as some other options. This was a last-minute stop over on our way from Rome to go skiing in Cortina with our children. We were only there for one quick night, but the hotel could not have been more accommodating for a family, letting the 4 of us stay together in a room with a king and a pull-out queen sofa bed. It was perfect and the rate was fair. What you trade in grandeur and character of some of the palazzo-style hotels, the splendid makes up for with modern conveniences, comfort and efficiency. The public areas of the hotel lack romance and magic, but everything works and the rooms are beautifully decorated.

Me, my husband, son and wife stayed at the hotel in two rooms for a week. We had a lovely time. The staff and accommodations were wonderful. The hotel was for us, in a perfect location right in the middle of shopping and restaurants and a few minutes away from famous landmarks. I recommend the hotel for anyone who would like to stay in a comfortable relaxing place.

Super central. Good service, great breakfast. Genuine luxury 4* hotel. We got a great last minute deal thru booking.com. No internet in the rooms. Our room was quite small. Mini-bar and room service ridiculously expensive.

the hotel is very well situated, between the Rialto and St Marks. our triple room was comfortable and spacious. we overlooked the street and the canal but the noise level was not a problem. the room was well maintained and the breakfast was plentiful. the staff were very helpful. we were led to believe that wifi was free as well as freely available. it is free but only for 30 min intervals in the lobby. if you want more flexibility it will cost you extra. we have stayed in less luxurious hotels where the wifi was free, so to be slugged on a daily basis for what in this day & age almost a necessity really was sub-par for a hotel of this rating.
