The room was a bit too dark for us and the aircon was a bit too loud and ‘bumpy’ (especially at night). The room is a matter of taste of course and we did have moments when we appreciated it being a perfect hideout from the Tuscan sun. And Giuseppe made sure we knew exactly what room we were getting way before we confirmed our reservation.
We spent weeks looking for a place to stay in Tuscany. We've found Tenuta and it was it! It was a wonderful 10-day stay.
Firstly, the room was spacious and in an original Tuscan style. We had our own private entrance straight from the backyard which made us feel like home.
Secondly, Tenuta's location is perfect. Pienza is a 5min drive away. You need 10 min to get to Montepulciano and 20 to get to Montalcino. According to many, us included, this is the most beautiful, warm and yummy part of Tuscany (unlike Chianti, which has a little less sun and is a lot more humid). Tenuta is on a hill. From the swimming pool and rest area you can see Pienza with its Duomo, towers and walls. The view is just great.
Thirdly, we've found the conditions of the Tenuta exactly as we imagined. There's a huge and comfortable porch, also overlooking Pienza, a small garden where vegetables for your breakfast are grown and vineyards where you can walk and admire the views. Lots of smaller flower gardens or lawns with seats or hammocks to hang around. Not to mention the beautiful and comfortable pool. In the building there are couple of rooms (billard, fireplace, coffee corners) where you can relax from the sun or in the evening drinking the great PIO II DOCG wine by Tenuta.
Last but not least, Lena and Fabio were amazing. Their passion for food, wine and making you feel like home is something we've never experienced before. It was thanks to them that we discovered the best restaurants in the area and Fabio could not resist telling us about the nuances of the Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino :) And from Guiseppe, who is always there, we learnt a lot about that area of Tuscany, it's history, the whole cool story of Tenuta and fantastic facts and stories about food (not only Tuscan ;)
