The apartment was good but not for older people.
My husband does not walk well and no where in their listing do they mention so many steps to get from the car to the apartment nor how broken up some of them are. The roads up to the apartment are very bad and we chose not to drive so we had to climb 100 steps up to a restaurant. There was no way my husband could do that for the four days booked. We explained this to Mario and he saw how my husband struggled but when we tried to work something out with him we said my husband was not his problem so we had to pay the full amount and only does one night. He was not very nice about it either. In my opinion he did some false advertising. I have used Booking for many years and never have I had a problem with one of their properties like this.
Everything! Mario met us off the bus and he's so friendly and welcoming. We were 2 'old' friends from college days and spending a weeks holiday together, both in our early 50's and love the outdoors and walking. We were looking for views and good value...and that's exactly what we got at Torre di Amalfi. The views from the terrace are amazing - as you are so high up! On a practical level - the accommodation is about a 5 minute walk form a bus stop which goes up and down the hill about once an hour - the last bus back is at 10pm. We walked down the 1000 steps on the two mornings we were there. As we are both walkers and relatively fit this was no problem. Having been out walking most of the day... we never made it back up the stairs and chose the bus instead! Be careful about the balcony doors/shutters as we locked ourselves out one night. My friend was getting our cheese and wine supper ready on the balcony when I closed the patio doors to keep out any insects and cats. We couldn't get back in.There is a lovely lady in the upstairs flat who helped us no problem. Beautiful flat, and fabulous people. Gerry's bar is great - with Gerry the owner so kind and welcoming. This is great value for money and a lovely place to stay if you want to be a little out of the buzz of Amalfi itself. In Amalfi we ate at Taverna Buon Vicino(trip advisor) - and I would definitely recommend this. Divine pasta with seafood and nuts and lemon.
The only thing was we couldn't get logged onto the wi-fi....however we didn't put much effort in really. At our age we do not want to be glued to screens - when we had such a fabulous view to look at!
The view from the apartment was excellent, overall a quite and lovely location.
The drive to reach this location was filled with hairpin turns and enough room for barley two autos and in some cases only one.
very big and spacious appartment with a great view and a nice owner (mario). It had most of the equipment that needed. There is a lovley little yard sorounded with lemon trees that you can eat there breakfast-realy nice.
very hard to find the place. To get to the closest supermarket, restaurant, bus etc. You have to climb 180 steps! Not easy at all. the air condition cost 10€ per room per day (not mantioned at the site). The kitchen is empty - remember to arrive with elementry Things. The wifi work only in part of the appartment.
Extra 10 euro for a/c per day... Very difficult to find. No way to find it at night! 15 min drive to Amalfi. Owner should change the name. It's not Amalfi! Didn't even have a simple soap bar in the bathroom.
-Not in the craziness of Amalfi central part- very relaxing overlooking the water with 180 degree uninterrupted views of ocean -HUGE, HUUUUUGE apartment!! 2 toilets, huge bedrooms and living areas, and a whole balcony off the side of the apartment plus a secluded balcony off one of the bedrooms -beds were really comfortable, and extra blankets provided -airconditioned apartment when it got too hot, however shutters on the windows meant it wasn't needed -owner was very hospitable, bringing us fruit from his own garden each day -kitchen was well equipped -small town square 5 minute walk up from the apartment with restaurant that stays open until midnight! -bus every half hour to Amalfi town centre, and beyond.
-The fact that it was above Amalfi town centre meant that we walked 1000 odd stairs down to Amalfi, and 1000 back up (we did this on our own prerogative though because we are relatively fit) -a little difficult to find; our taxi driver got lost (luckily we speak italian and could ask the locals where it was) plus it took 2 hours to drive from Naples airport (would highly recommend taking the ferry instead) -the washing machine was confusing for us, and took quite a while to do a load of washing
Secure parking...the owner Mario nice and very helpful..close to local bus service great view..close to local town
Can be difficult to find..the decor could do with some updating...mattress is a bit lumpy...invest in some memory foam
Great views from large balcony area of the Amalfi coast. 5 minute walk to Pergerola part of Amalfi with a couple of restraunts and shops and bus to Amalfi.
Finding the place wasn't easy but Mario came to find us. Sat Nav takes you nearly there and the roads are tiny. If driving then there is a right hand turn down a little windy bit and along a small road where at the end the apartment is.
The town of Pogerola, above Amalfi, is full of the nicest people on the planet and extraordinary views. It is quiet and relaxing. The bus service to Amalfi and beyond is fantastic.
You need to climb 165 steps in a 5 minute walk to get to the town from the room.
