Views from the terrace. Had to change rooms because of an unpleasant odour in the booked room. the hotel is a few km outside the centre of Tivoli (too far to walk). Restaurant was closed on the night of our arrival (a Friday), and we had not been informed of this fact by phone or email, until I asked to book a table for dinner that evening.. Swimming pool was cloudy and not attractive.

The rooms were beautiful and the tilework and decor were outstanding. The room with the large bed was great- but the twin beds were really too small for adults and the mattresses were too hard. The breakfast was spectacular. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke some English. The location was great and the ambience was super. The pool had not opened yet but the grounds were manicured. A luxurious spot. Again, the twin beds were too hard and narrow.

The outside was beautiful! The rooms were very dirty mold all over tub and surround. Dirty walls in room. When I called the staff they said it was from the last guest and they wouldn't clean it. They showed me another room that was just as bad.

The outlook was lovely. my room was nice and spacious with a soft big bed! The spa bath didn't work really well. Tea & Coffee making would have been great.

Easy to find with a good view to Rome and easy parking. One or two nice ornate chandeliers. Boiled eggs available for breakfast. On inspection of the room we asked the receptionist, who was very offhand, for two more pillows and also mentioned that the lavatory had not been cleaned after the last guest. When we returned after about four hours, neither request had been dealt with. After we asked again, pillows were provided but the lavatory had not been cleaned and someone had put something down it but had not to tried to clean it. As I was desperate, I had to do it. Imagine - this was Italy, the home of designer loo's and excellent sanitation and the yet Torre Sant'Angelo expects guests to clean the toilets themselves! Dinner was a 'Fawlty Towers-type' expereience in the vast dining room with one elderly waiter taking the orders very slowly (apparently, the other waiter was sick that night) and expensive.

It was situated outside of rome, but easily reached if you wanted to go there, it is an idylic setting with a nice pool and a local town about 3/4 minutes drive away, I would reccomend alfredos to eat, we ate there it was typically italian and not too expensive Well worth a stay

This is a lovely hotel that was transformed from the country retreat of the Princes' Massimo back in 1962. Before that it was an ecclesiastical home for centuries. It would have been a state-of-the-art hotel back in the swinging sixties. Now it has an air of stately grace and character that you can't find in your Sheratons and the like. Genuine paintings adorn the walls; beautiful inlaid tiles are the floor. It has changed with the times in some ways though. The lighting in the hall is automatic and the bedrooms have spas. The managers, indeed all the staff, are very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a 5 star, modern hotel, this is not for you. If you want to get a taste of culture in a building with a real soul then look no further. I will Definitely be back; hopefully more than once!

The room was nicely furnished although smallish. There was a swimming pool quite nice although not very kept up with chairs and comfort. The breakfast buffet was great. A kind of passé luxury, minuscule elevator, few personnel and the feeling that times were hard, guests few and far between, although there was a big private party the evening we were there that seemed nicely done.

Peaceful location, good for relaxing. Fabulous swimming pool. Convenient for Tivoli. No fresh milk for breakfast, for a 4 star hotel this is unacceptable. Evening meal and service very disappointing. Decor in the hotel is very tired and needs maintenance and updating. Eg, holes in curtains, markers missing from taps. Things had broken and not been repaired. Pool-side area need a little tlc, it was a bit neglected.

Almost everything about this hotel is grand. Incredible marble floors, woodwork, columns, even the ceilings. It was orginally a castle, then a monastery, then a private villa, and all has been beautifully preserved. We arrived about 9PM just as the dining room was closing, but the white-coated maitre d' graciously served us a lite supper. Exploring the next morning, we were able to appreciate the beauty of the building and setting. No wi-fi reception in our room. Our room was OK, but a little worn; not up to the standard of the rest of the building. Front desk night staff was pre-occupied and not helpful with the wi-fi issue. Location is lovely, but remote. Elevator was scary.

Vrij parkeren. Gratis WiFi in de openbare ruimtes. Kleine lift. Géén WiFi of kabel internet in de kamers.

Der var en flot udsigt over Tivoli. Det virkede lidt øde. Da vi kom ganske få gæster. Ingen restaurant.
