Tramonto d'Oro    

Staff was fantastic! They speak great English, are willing to help with Italian, and are always smiling. Town of Praiano is nice...a lot like nearby Possitano, but without the crowds and expense. Good spot to stay for hiking.

While the room has a nice bathroom, the bed is incredibly uncomfortable. I felt like I was sleeping on the box spring, and checked to make surei wasn't! As a 4-star hotel, I was expecting a more comfortable bed.

Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Very good location for visiting the nearby places along the Amalfi coastline. Room was very neat and well kept and had a great view of the sea and coastline.

The views across to Positano spectacular, particularly at night. Family run and such helpful staff that went to alot of effort to organise tours and boat hire for us. Praiano much quieter than other surrounding villages.

No iron in the room only way you could iron clothes was sending them to laundry service. Never found the mysterious spa.

The views of the Amalfi coast. We could see the signature rocks of the Isle of Capri. The views from our balcony and the restaurant we magnificent. Loved the quaint town of Praiano.

We had one of the older rooms that had not been remodeled. The shower was very small and the hair dryer was not good like a vacuums on the wall. The bed was not comfortable. The exercise facility was a joke only one treadmill.

Family run business, with a very friendly staff, always doing their best to accomodate our needs. Good rooms, and good breakfast. My wife loved the one afternoon cooking course.

It is very convenient to stay in Praiano. You are close to Positano,Amalfi, Ravallo and Sorrento. But not all the chaos in those places Tramonto d'Oro is quiet! The parking is on sight and free. I would recommend parking the car and catching the sita bus right outside the hotel door. You can go anywhere quckly and not worry about the twisting roads or the parking in other places. Owners are on sight and can direct you anywhere. Rooms are beautifully tiled and clean. Pool always has a breeze and is crystal clear. Hotel directed us to a wonderful boat trip to Capri.....picked up right at the door. The restuarant has wonderful views and very good food choices. Breakfast.....everything is tempting!

Very good hotel to the cost that we paid I recomend that you ask for the room with a sea view - its wonderful The staff is very polite ( a family hotel ) and there is a good parking lot ( its important in Costa Amalfitana )

Room descriptions perhaps need to be more specific. My Balcony room was fine, and was probably better than the Terraced rooms, but I had booked a Terraced room at the higher rate. Perhaps update room descriptions to avoid mis-understandings on arrival.

We had a lovely stay at Tramonto d'Oro. There was a lovely breakfast & you can arrange cooking lessons with the chef Salvatore! they spoke great English. Our rooms were great, very spacious and well decorated, with good bath rooms. Sea view from most rooms, they cost a little bit extra but there's no point going to d'Oro unless you take rooms with a sea view. it was quite cool because the rooms were underground (didn't seem like it though)! It is located in Praiano, the heart of the Amalfi coast and is a lovely place because in the middle of Positano and Amalfi (10 kilometres to both).For dinner, there's a restaurant about a minute's walk away called Restaurant La Strada, which had gorgeous food and if you go upstairs you have a great view of the sea!! The waiter is nice there. there is free wi-fi in the entire hotel and parking is free of charge. Practically next to the beach. In the hotel the have a small, cute rooftop pool and sunbeds & umbrellas. You can get snacks, icecream and a drink there. The staff ( a family run hotel) and they were lovely, spoke English well and they can arrange trips to amalfi, positano, emerald cove by boat. They really made you feel like family!! Amazing hotel, will definately come again. Recommended.

The family owners and staff were fantastic. The room designs and views were outstanding and the pool and restaurant were superb. The location is the best on the Amalfi cast.

Beautiful hotel with a perfect location. The view from breakfast is stunning. The pool is great for kids. Everyone speaks perfect english and helped with dinner reservations and other questions.

Fantastic location overlooking Amalfi coast and Positano, yet unlike Positano was in a quiet peaceful location with beautiful sunsets and free parking.

Friendly staff, great evening meals, comfortable room, views of the sunset over the sea. Good bar down the road for an aperitif

Indeed a great location, priceless to have breakfast on the open varanda restaurant. Very nice pool, great for relaxing with kids, have a meal, read your books or email. Great staff, very attentive to your needs under the very present eyes of the family owners.

Breathtaking view, very pleasant decor, very clean, very nice and helpful staff, spacious room. We were impressed. Definitely the nicest hotel we stayed in in Italy!

Not all rooms have a view. Rooms with a view are undeniably worth the price difference, though.

Staff were friendly and informative, service is excellent, rooms are lovely with terraces. Great food at their restaurant. Great quiet location, fantastic pool and deck for enjoying the sun, nice selection of restaurants close by, easy access to Capri. Would definitely stay here again.

What a spectacular location! The view from the restaurant and our room was absolutely dreamy. We booked a "family" room and were thrilled to find a spacious, luxurious ensuite room with a completely separate kids' room with their own full bathroom! (Book early or ask for it - another family staying there did not have a separate kids' room.) Our gorgeous terrace allowed early risers to enjoy the sunshine and view while the rest of the family slept in, as well as being a great place for laundry and swimsuits to dry. Rooftop pool with fabulous view allowed the whole family to enjoy a lovely afternoon or entire day. Bar service at the pool meant we could enjoy lunch, drinks and snacks. Breakfast included yummy homemade pastries and the best capuccino ever. It was hard to leave!

We were very happy with our stay and will definitely come back. The room was large and clean, the balcony with view over the bay and Positano breathtaking. The kids enjoyed the pool - very safe, easy to keep an eye on them! The hotel's private parking is a big advantage on the coast. The atmosphere was familiar and friendly, the personnel was extremely kind and helpful, even saved some croissants for us in the morning to make sure we had our Italian breakfast. Large breakfast with salty and sweet, good lunch made with local ingredients.

Would be nice to have a choice of different pillows on the beds, ours were very high. The Jacuzzi in our bathroom did not work. It didn't bother us but the kids would have loved to try it.

Excellent location. Friendly staff and owner. Very good restaurant (good food, friendly waiting staff, not expensive), where one can have dinner while enjoying a gorgeous sunset in a great panorama. Not really a family hotel (more of a luxury place), but kids (we have a 5y old) were very welcome. Daytrip are easily organized - just ask the front desk, either organized tours or just by public transport. Driving is a headache, between the narrow Amalfi road and finding parking - so take the bus!

While wired internet was free, one had to pay for wi-fi (first hour was free). But this was clear from the website when booking, So no surprise there. One small drawback was that when we were there in the 2nd week of May, the swimming pool was not yet in use. It was still too cold by local standards (but not really by ours). The hotel is not cheap - but again, that is no surprise.
