Location, service, WiFi
Heating (in January) underestimated, it was a bit cold on the room.
The location is right off the Piazza di San Fracesco d'Assisi in Trastevere, just a few steps from Piazza Mastai, where taxis are plentiful, and (via tram) Piazza Venezia and Trastevere train station are a few minutes away. Wonderful, clean, spacious rooms, strong WiFi, and great breakfast room, where you are likely to chat with interesting people from around the world. The owner, Alessandra, though, makes this an exceptional place to stay. She is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and is ready, willing and able to help guests to experience Rome in the ways they would like.
Just to know - depending on your arrival time, you may have to call or text to have someone meet you there with your key. Also, if you arrange your own taxi, it is essentially at the corner of Via dei Marescotti and Piazza di San Francesco, and access is much easier through the Piazza than it would be trying to navigate the street itself. San Francesco a Ripa is a landmark all taxi drivers will know.
We were made very welcome by Carolina and family. We enjoyed the breakfast chats with others from all over the world, and were given information and good advice from our hosts, which helped us to find our way around Rome. Definitely recommend Trastevere Colours!
It is worth knowing about the additional Rome tax imposed recently on all tourists in Rome hotels . We were not aware of this before we visited, although it was there in the booking.com small print.
It was a great experience to be in Rome and feel more like a local in a house and less than a tourist in a hotel!Great location and very helpful tips!Wonderful people with positive energy!!!If I was in Rome again I would stay here for sure!!!!
The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. They made us feel very comfortable and at ease, and they treated us with care and respect. The location was great for our vacation in Rome and their advice helped us to take advantage of the few days we had in the city.
It was a bit noisy at times because of little soundproofing, but we did not have a problem with noise at night when we were trying to sleep.
An amazing experience, wonderful building, fabulous room nicely decorated, exceptional bathroom amenities and lighting. Alessandra and family are lovely, caring and extremely helpful. Their efforts to ensure you enjoy your stay demonstrates the love for what they do! Breakfast was great, engaging and always informative. Hope we have the opportunity to go back!
There is actually nothing to say that is negative. When we viewed the comments and found nothing negative we were skeptical. Not now!
The location is perfect in the cool Trastevere area. The rooms are charming and tidy. The breakfast is delicious. The tips of the owners, Alessandra and Carlo, are priceless. Big recommendation if you are spending a weekend in Rome.
Nothing. This place is one of a kind.
The location was excellent for people wishing to stay in the Trastevere area of Rome. The owners of this establishment are lovely and very helpful people
The door into the apartment sometimes would not open easily which did concern me and on our last night arrived back at 1am and could not open it and had to ask for assistance from another couple staying there. The breakfast could be more varied no meats cheese just sweets.
Wonderful location close to many lovely restaurants and bars but still quiet for a good night's sleep. Great local advice from the owner on places to visit and eat as well as local tips on out of the way churches and sights. Comfortable, spotless rooms and delicious croissants for breakfast! Nice atmosphere with a good mix of independence and engagement from the owner. Highly recommended.
The breakfasts were held in a communal kitchen, with a large selection of breads, fruit, yoghurt, with the croissants being the best of the lot! Alessandra was an amazing host, who stayed for the whole of breakfast to tell us about the best no how around the city, gave us maps, guides and told us the best places to eat. The rooms, were big with nice modern bathrooms, with aircon and wifi although we spent so much time walking we were hardly in our rooms! They also had a very friendly driver who was happy to pick us up, or drop us off anytime, and even arrived an hour early to make sure he was there for when we needed to leave.
Alessandra, the hostess of the hotel was wonderful. Whenever I think of the good times we had in Rome Alessandra is definitely a part of those good memories. Every morning we would 'debrief' with her and she would suggest new hotels and sites to see for the day. Her advice was always excellent. Our room was clean and the location excellent. We will definitely stay here again.
Alesandra and Carlo are great hosts, very helpful in every regard. They went out of their way to assist us in planning what to see in roma and the transportation, restaurants etc... our stay was made fantastic because of their thoughtfulness. Breakfasts were ok, typical Italian but the nature of the bb added to our enjoyment as we communicated with numerous couples and visitors from all over Europe.
Cheese or some ham at breakfast would be helpful
very nice place close to rome centre
hot water run out to quickly
Loved the location which was close to all that Trastevere had to offer. The best part however were the hosts. Alessandra was amazingly friendly helpful and patient. We'd been to Rome before so she helped with suggestions for lesser known sights. We had a great time and loved our stay here
The owners Alexandra and Carlo are wonderful. It is so welcoming it's like staying with old friends. Each morning Alexandra would load you with maps and information and direct you to transport. I love this Trastevere area and the owners made it so appealing and fasinating.
Having to say goodbye
Alessandra was wonderful, friendly and had lots of really useful information to make the most of our visit. The location of the property is within easy walking access of central Rome and close to public transport. A great vibrant restaurant district is within 10 mins walk. We felt very welcomed and comfortable and would love to stay here again.
Tricky to get the hot water consistent in the shower. Surprised that the outside of Trastevere Colors is just an apartment building. Don't be disappointed as a treat lies within.
Alessandra and her family are wonderful people and hosts. The location is excellent in Trastevere and walking distance to all Rome has to offer. The accommodation is tasteful and well maintained and the Breakfast Room is comfortable and stylish. Breakfasts are great and Alessandra's attentiveness is a wonderful way to start the day. Alessandra's tips/advice on the local attractions/restaurants etc. were really helpful. We stayed for 7 nights and one day Alessandra offered to show us some local sights and things of interest that you wouldn't normally see - taking a couple of hours off and driving us around. We loved it. Perfect stay!
Check-in and tips to visit the city, restaurant recommendations, laminated map with notes to use whilst in Rome
Very poor breakfast. For the money charged, the owner could put at least some effort.
Loved the host/owners - they were helpful, caring and went out of their way to make my rome experience unforgettable. My room was over the public car park and was there was some noise but who cares I didn't go to one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world expecting quiet. Room were of a reasonable size. Facilities were reasonable. Location was amazing. The host made me feel that I had friends looking out for me. Way better than an impersonal hotel. Great to meet other guests from other countries and share breakfast each day. Loved my time there, would love to return and stay longer.
Colors had a few different providers for wi fi however I found the internet across Italy pretty poor. I feel Colors provide the best available.
- extremely nice & caring people - very close to pedestrian zone with shops and pleaces to go for dinner
There wasn't much not to like, prefect place to stay.
We spent 2 nights at Trastevere Colors and it was just great. The place is perfect; clean, nice rooms with all you need and great breakfast too and the neighborhood is really cool. The staff is very friendly and they'll help you out with places to go and visit visit or finding nice places to eat and drink. Certainly recommend going to Trastevere Colors
Everything but especially our host. Such a helpful lady and so friendly.
It's a small family hotel--a floor in a building, run by a wonderful family. Alessandra and her daughter are so helpful and warm. They also know a lot about the architecture of Rome and will help you find things. The room was comfortable and tasteful, and relatively spacious with high ceilings. It's not for people who want a large flat screen TV (there's a small one), a bar and lobby, or mind one flight of stairs but for me it was perfect. I would highly recommend it.
The owner, Alex, was more Iike a hostess as opposed to a landlord. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about events happening on Rome. Each morning she would suggest things to see or do around our scheduled activities for the day.
