Very pleasant and helpful staff. Three days prior to departure I realized we needed tickets for the Assisi Rennaisance festival. I e- mailed the hotel and they graciously agreed to purchase the tickets and I then reimbursed them upon arrival. Tickets were all sold by the day of our arrival. Hotel Umbra saved our vacation!

The location in the centre of Assisi is fantastic. The view out the windows over the Umbria valley is stunning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Wifi reception varies in strength and only one device can be used at a time. We were unable to get the kindle to connect. Log on slips are collected from reception and last for 2 hours.

Lovely small family run hotel, tucked away down an alley just off the main piazza. It was very peaceful. The room was large, very clean and had a fabulous view over the roof tops to the valley beyond. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It was right in the middle of old Assisi which is a beautiful place to walk around and a few minutes walk from the St. Francis Basillica complex. We asked for and got non smoking rooms as other reviews I have read said they allowed smoking in the rooms (I don't know if this still applies). If I had to say something I disliked, then the only comment I would say is that the hot breakfast (scrambled eggs) were under cooked and luke warm.

It is ideally situated in Assisi. The staff was most helpful and accommodating. We had to have an early checkout and not only did we do it the evening before, they arranged that we be served an early quick breakfast of coffee, juice, yogurt and croissants for 5:30 am and we made our 10 am Rome connection. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. It is a bit of a treck up from the parking lot (€12) per 24 hours purchased from hotel. This however is not the fault of the hotel but typical of the hill towns. We were able to bring the car as close as the town center square to drop and pick-upp luggage. This is only 50 meters from the hotel.

Fantastic location. Just off a main square in Assisi but set back far enough to block out the everyday noise of the bustling town. Reception personnel were friendly and very helpful with suggestions. The room was clean and we appreciated having a small refrig in the room and the ability to have wireless at no additional cost. Although the view was rooftops and valley and mountains in the distance, we could use 2 outside terraces on the second floor to sit in chairs or on lounges while we snacked, drank wine and looked over the beautiful countryside. All in all a hotel that we will return to in the future. Although not a complaint, the hotel provides free breakfast in a pleasant room off the lobby with traditional rolls, pastries, cakes, cold meats and cheeses but tried to present a hot entree which unfortunately was undercooked watery scrambled eggs with small hot dogs. I suggest they stick with the basics of the cold entrees and yogurt and cereals but add some hard boiled eggs vs the watery undercooked eggs. All in all, stick with the european basics for bfast and you will be fine.

So caring staff. So beautiful inside and outside. So perfect location. Hotel Umbra exceeded my imagination and expectations! Peaceful and quiet - but one step from the very center of the city, with access to all imaginable services at hand; ancient building nestled into twisted steep passage, panoramic view on Assisi roofs from two terraces, tasteful interiors furnished in old style. Excellent restaurant serving delicious local specialties in extremely beautiful surroundings. People working in the hotel were so nice and caring. Everybody loved our kid :-) Awesome place!

A good location to visit all of the historical attractions in Assisi. We especially enjoyed visiting the Basilica of St.Francisco, church of St. Stefano, and the little shops and restaurants in the town. We also visited on our departure from Assisi the Basilica Patriarale of Santa Maria Degli Angeli, which is just outside of Assisi. There were a couple of sitting rooms in the hotel that made meeting and talking to other guest very enjoyable. The breakfast was just okay.

The location in Assisi was wonderful. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We were on a "Piero della Francesca" quest (Monterchi, Sansepolcro, Urbino, Arezzo, Perugia, etc.) and Assisi was a good central location in a georgeous mountain hill town. The "Mountains of the Moon" highway was breathtaking for scenery and breaktaking for the mountain roads. Enjoy the ride! Be back by sundown! Due to the traffic configuration currently in Assisi, it was difficult to get into the city center to drop off bags for the hotel. An up-to- date parking organagram would be helpful with all reservations for those people with cars. Make sure you rent a small car.

Loved the location in relation to the town center, not necessarily to the Basilica. Beautiful views from the rooms and various decks. Nice rooms in a traditional manner yet updated. Very clean, huge room, nice huge bathroom. A little hard to drive to the hotel and find it. Parking to check-in and unload was problematic. I was lucky and found an available spot. That trip down to the front door is killer and watch out for that pigeon poop! But once you figure out the city bus system, it is fine. Cabs are good too and very inexpensive. The outside citywall car parks are great!

The room was as about as elegant as any we have ever stayed in ... large, spacious, light, very large bathroom, and a view of the hillsides. Restaurant is beautiful, classy, and excellent. Difficult to get a car to inside the walled city. Travelling very light is a must, as one has to walk back downhill to the parked car.

If you are thinking of visiting Assisi - this is the place to stay - a real gem of a hotel. A traditional Umbrian hotel with breathtaking views of Assisi and the valley beyond. Guests can relax on the terrace (swing chair & sun loungers) and a fews steps from the front door and you are in the centre of Assisi's main square! Perfectly located to explore Assisi and the surrounding area. The hotel is very well managed and the staff are helpful and freindly.
