In the heart of Assisi, the Alexander Hotel is in a small square, just half a mile from St. Francis' Basilica. You can admire a 360° view of the historic center from the rooftop terrace.

Only 100 yards from the famous Basilica of San Francesco, Hotel Sorella Luna offers a very convenient location in central Assisi. In a 15th-century stone building, it has free Wi-Fi and refined rooms....

We enjoyed everything
Lovely older coule very welcoming ,met us in the town square as our taxi driver wasn't sure where to go.
I really enjoyed the combination of modern convenience and comfort in an authentic olde-world Italian hotel offering an atmosphere of peace and culture.
Friendly staff made us feel so welcome. Location perfect.
We loved everything.
Location is excellent in the historic center. Public parking located at a short walk from the hotel. Possibility of driving into the historic center to drop-off and pick-up luggage upon arrival and departure. Beautiful view from the hotel terrace, very quiet and clean room. Family managed hotel and owners are very friendly, courteous and helpful. Hotel is very close to excellent restaurants for dinner.
Breakfast could be enhanced with fresh bread and a greater variety of cheese.
There was a great view and so close to everything.
Location was fantastic - just off the main square. . Nice old bedroom with character. Staff very helpful. We would recommend this hotel to our friends. Might even come again!
superior double room had balcony fantastic views on 3 sides. We choose for location perfect. Staff warm and friendly and helpful. Good breakfast being a non meat eater I tried to ask for eggs without meat cooked into them they did not understand. Please suggest thanks.
Our only complaint were their pillows we really hard and uncomfortable otherwise all good.
This is an excellent hotel with wonderful staff, restaurant, breakfast, internet in the room and cleanliness. The hotel is located right off the main square and the room I had was very quiet!
The only problem with the hotel is that there is no parking and you are forced to park at a main parking garage which is located almost a half kilometer down the hill. I had to take a taxi to the parking garage when I departed the hotel. The total for the short taxi drive and the 3 overnight parking garage cost me almost $65.00.....quiet a shame! Sorry...but I think the visitors (tourists) supporting their economy are being taken advantage of!!!!!!
Location Wonderful, gracious hosts Large, modern, clean room
The location of the hotel was perfect. It was right off the main square. Our room was large and the bed was very comfortable with great bedding. Bathroom was also good sized with a bathtub. It is a family run business, and the mother, daughter and her husband were very helpful. Breakfasts were good with different kinds of coffee cakes as well as the usual breakfast foods. After we booked we were sent an e-mail telling us where to park. The garage was very convenient and you could get a multi-day pass with easy in and out. We did not use the pass to get into the parking garage the first time and could not get out. I ran into the daughter and her husband in the elevator and they followed me to the office to help out. We spent four nights here, and used Assisi as a base to explore the hill towns. It was magical each time we returned to see Assisi sitting on the hill as we drove up to it. We would go back to Assisi, and the Hotel Umbra would be one of the reasons to return.
There was an annual 3 day event called Calendimaggio di Assisi which involved bleachers and events in the main square which effectively shut it down during the afternoon and some evenings. We had to take a very circuitous route back to our hotel. Tickets were required for the events, and it was not possible to stand outside the bleachers and watch them. It involved a medieval competition between neighborhoods complete with costumes, banners, games, parades. While it was fun to see everyone in costume, and the party atmosphere of the town was very infectious, it made it more difficult to enjoy Assisi. I would check the calendar and skip this event, unless it was my reason for coming.
Friendly staff, excellent location
The breakfast was very good for those who like cakes and white bread in the morning, I missed some fresh fruit.
I woke up late and missed breakfast but the staff fixed me a tray of breakfast pastries, juices, yogurt, and cappuccino despite the kitchen being closed. Very hospitable and kind staff!!
Great location, very clean and inviting
Staff not the friendliess
Reception, personal approach, very helpful, great kitchen
A bit old fashioned
The hotel is family owned so they take great pride in caring about their hotel and guests.Friendly without being intrusive and most helpful. They even came to main square with us to make sure we got our taxi. There is a beautiful view from the terrace. Excellent location convenient to all sights. I would stay there again and recommend others to stay too.
We didn't know the hotel restaurant would be closed. They only opened Easter weekend. It would have been so nice to dine on their lovely patio. However there are many lovely restaurants nearby.
Nice and quiet place directly in the center of Assisi. Charming rooms with wonderfull view. Friendly and helpfull staff. Pleasant breakfast area and good breakfast.
Wonderful traditional building we had fabulous views from balcony and hotel is right next to main square
the central location, reception and personal advice for discovering the città.
A well-run hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location in the centre of Assisi, and the patio view across the valley is stunning.
We especially liked the view from our room. The staff was always very helpful and breakfast was great!
This is our second stay at the hotel (October 2013). In fact, we had the same exact room as two years ago. Excellent location, nice people, spiritual place. Great for exercise freaks; you cannot dodge the hills; do not even try.
Our favorite terrace at the hotel was closed for repairs; this terrace has killer views.
Friendly helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast.
Friendly staff, good size rooms, great location, wifi (a bit slow)
Breakfast could be improved
The welcome was gracious and staff was helpful upon our arrival and always there to be of assistance. The rooms are clean and spacious. It was pure pleasure to have a seating area.. And the windows that overlook the hills of Umbra were a dream come true. We were informed of a planned power outage due to updated upon our arrival and the staff did a great job preparing breakfast with the minimum of delay. Good folks and a sweet place to stay while you enjoy Assisi.
A small complaint re: the absence of English news coverage on the tv
