We wanted to arrive by train in AM, check in and then see Orvieto, spend 1 night then continue to Siena. Location is a $10 min from station down main road of town. The manager let us check in early which was great. Room was clean, looked out over roofs to quiet back street. It is a restaurant also so we were able to have dinner at 7:30. Nothing fancy but good after climbing steep streets and needing hot tea & soup to warm up. Wifi iffy at times so I paid for Internet in lobby (reasonable at $5 for 90 min). Breakfast simple. I was happy to be able to soft boil a couple of eggs rather than hard boiled ones at other stops. Usual yoghurt, rolls, fruit, cereal; found at budget hotels. Had to wait for town to get an expresso as they had a machine that made more cocoa than coffee. Stick with black tea & bring your favorites esp herbal tea if traveling in europe. In any case, it was great for a 1 night stopover rather than day trip from Rome & have to take trains both ways. FYI...In Rome Termini...The track for trains to Orvieto, Siena, Florence is a big hike to a far track.
The location of the hotel was great. We could walk to the train station to get the tram to the historical centre.
The carpet and coverings were old and grotty, could do with an upgrade. Dinner in the restaurant was dreadful.
The staff was very helpful and nice to pick us up from the train station. Nice breakfast.the room was cleaned everyday.
Their wifi and internet was not avaliable at our room sometimes. The connection was not good.
Close to station, cable car and historic township. Parking, WiFi, clean comfortable room and private bathroom. Nice breakfast. Hotel had own restaurant. Nice friendly man running the hotel.
The staff was very helpfull, Grazie
It was nice and close to the train station and funicular. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly, room was large and clean. Good value for money as it was so easy to get to the historic centre.
No wifi in my room 209 and it was very very dark. Shower wasnt really a shower unless you got the whole bathroom wet as no curtain over the bath.
Not obviouse there would be a tourist tax on top of bill.
Air conditioner was set on heating, made doe an uncomfortable stay.
Owners are very friendly even with No English try hard. Close to train station & Finicular to take you to Orvieto old town. Food, very good value!
Located close to the train station / finiculare.
Worst breakfast we had in 2 weeks. WIFI was weak to non-existent in our room, better (but not great) in the lobby. Hotel has seen better days.
The food in the Restaurant . Old but very clean room .
Old beds , small shower . Very bad condition of the walking road from the railwaystation . Noise from trains in our road-side room by opened window .
Looked after luggage on arrival Close to supermarket.
This hotel represents traditional rural Italy. Orvieto is magical - full of local craftsmanship and Umbrian wines. If you stay at this hotel, you must eat at the restaurant. You get massive servings of meat for a low price.
Poor internet connection.
After staying in backpackers for weeks, Hotel Umbria felt like the Hilton. The decor is not amazing, but it is clean and well kept, with everything you need. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, from which one can easily catch the funiculare (tram) into Orvieto itself. The little restaurant attached to the hotel was exceptional- I had the best meal in all my travels of Italy there. Definitely good value for money!
