Hotel VdB NEXT    

We were on our honeymoon and had booked a junior suite, but unfortunately there was a family in next room keeping noise, so we asked for another room, so got a free upgrade to suite on the roof of the house. Really liked that a lot, and Maurulio (??) was very helpful when we told about "the problem". The terrace on the roof was awesome. The staff helped us with all the questions we had!

Quite a small swimming pool, not so much alternatives on breakfast.

This is my second time going to this place. I enjoy the food, the suite and all that it has. It's very classical in style and rich in art. There is a pool and spa area also. The breakfast is awesome with beautiful views of the water. The drinks at the bar are also good if your looking to get a buzz. They don water then down. All and all my wife and I love it.

Bigger breakfast menu would make it even better.

The hotel was very unusual.

The bathroom was very cramped - and the shower was difficult to get into and out of. It would have been easier without a bath - just a shower cubilcle.

No double beds but called a double room. The rooms were very small. The toilet leaked thru the night making a noise . The dinner (meat and fish) were terrible . Staff only able to offer tour assistance with the Tourist operators who took you on the very expensive tourist traps

Very Clean rooms with excellent service. Hotel is close to city centre but away from the caos. I look forward to my next holiday

We stayed in the dark section of the hotel, explained by the staff as designed to be like so, however I wish there was a little bit more light as to get dressed and put some makeup is a bit difficult!

I love the room, we stayed in the silver suite and it was amazing. The view was beautiful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Other than the location the entire place gets an excellent from me!

It would be nice to have more parking space but other then that its great

Didn´t meet the expectations four a four-star-hotel! Also extra charge for parking that´s free of charge on most three-star-hotels.

The Presidential Suite was really disappointing. The hotel was really difficult to find and in an unattractive area. It was not at all good value.

The staff were so friendly and helpful no matter what we asked.

Very nice design hotel,excelent hotel room with very nice view over Catania,seeside and Etna.Very helpfull staff.In case of my next stay in Catania,I will come again.

- Customer care: We arrived on August 4. On August 7 our car, which was parked right outside of the hotel entrance door, was stolen. When we went to submit a complaint at the police, they said that 6 days ago, there had been other 2 cars stolen on the very same place, also belonging to this hotel guests. Did they warn us at the reception desk upon arrival? No, not a single word. I guess they prefer to allow car thefts to their guests better than doing any negative comment on the hotels area. - Facilities: the swimming pool has a strong bleach smell and is hardly touched by the sunlight. - Services: Pretending to have full breakfast, i.e., bacon and eggs, later than 930 is an utopy. When you ask them to refilll the correspondant tray they just say there is none left. TV does not work and when it does it only shows a few Italian channels. - Rooms: Those of the new area (VDB Next) are small, do not even have a closet, and of poor taste. We asked them to transfer us to the old part to which they agreed. Next day, after having asked, they just said the opposite. Thank you VDB for making me pack and unpack all of my luggage for nothing.

My boyfriend and I went to Catania in July 2012 and stayed at Hotel vdb next. We didn't really think in advance how we would get round places or where to go, when we reached the hotel they were so helpful. They printed out all the bus timetables we needed, gave us recommendations for places and were just really pleasant and helpful in general. The room was cleaned thoroughly everyday with fresh towels and sheets on the bed. I think this hotel is good value for money and we went there because not many places have a pool in Catania in our price range, however we were worried about the location being just out from the city center. The location turned out to be great and was just a 15 minute bus journey for 1 euro that stopped literally outside the hotel and the hotel runs a free bus at certain times of the day to the center and the private beach. We also had a balcony with our room which was very spacious and enjoyed many a evening on with a bottle of prossecco. Thank you VDB for a great holiday!

Restaurant a little expensive compared to what you can get in Catania.

Everything!! The staff is lovely, food is delicious, the modern rooms are so cool!! And I loved chilling in the pool area after work... will surely go back!! Good job guys!

We have booked the golden room, presidential suite. It's a nice room. The food in the restaurant of the hotel is very good, and they are friendly. The breakfast is also good.

The golden room is a bit a dark room. The water of the jacuzzi on the balcony is cold. The location of the hotel is far from the center of Catania, you must take the car...

The hotel was exactly as it appears in the pictures with a small pool and sun deck (which gets a good few hours of direct sunshine). The rooms were well equipped and a reasonable size including a balcony with views over the city (in our room at least). The staff deserve a particular mention as they were without exception polite courteous and never too busy to help.

The biggest problem with the hotel was the location. Although it only appears to be 1-2km from the city centre there is no chance of walking it and the local bus is infrequent at best. Heading down during the day, back to change and down again for dinner became a major effort and for this reason alone we probably wouldn't stay here again. But the trade off is a lovely hotel, great rooms and a swimming pool none of which you would get in the centre and definitely not at this price.

We were upgraded from a quadrupleroom to suite and that was very nice. The suite was very spacious and there were big windows at the bathroom and views to Mt Etna and the see.

The jacuzzi in the balkong of the suite didn't work.

The breakfast menu was the same during our whole stay (one week). Theoretically there was free wifi in the hotel, but only worked on the last day…

Unfortunately the energy fall out...was in the shower and it was dark as hell! Anyway...things happens. No problem. Maybe it is better to say not all levels in VdBnext are without stairs

Quiet location Very nice and elegant villa

The breakfast was nice, but absolutely no variation-we stayed for 7 days, the buffet was exactly the same everyday; No refill for omlette and fruit- this is unacceptable for a 4* hotel;and on the day of our departure, the breakfast opened at 7 am, but no omlette was made until we left at 7.30; The maid didn't wash the floor in the bathroom, I dropped something on the floor and the floor was dirty when we came into the room. The parking 8€, they have a very small courtyard and it's crazy, very crowded. Really small room

Clean, welcoming, very helpful reception

VdB is a very nice place to stay in Catania. The facility is an old stylish building with modern comfort and helpful staff.

I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. To start with, all the staff; reception, porter, breakfast waiters and cantina restaurant waiters are all really nice and helpful. The rooms are very clean and daily cleaning was spotless. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were beautiful. The lounge area near the pool is amazing at night and there is a great quiet atmosphere. In particular the Cantina waiters were so so nice to us and helping us entertain my 13 month old Niece. The chef even prepared a small meal for her even though it wasn't on the menu! - Thanks so much for that!

We stayed in the modern part of the hotel which can be a tiny bit uncomfortable to get to due to the few steps. The pool looked a bit small, but no big deal really. The bathroom had the option of using the rain shower, but it's only usable by people under 6feet tall, i was hitting my head to it everyday. Shower curtains are circular and a tad annoying. Very small annoyances, but overall highly recommended. thank you!!
