Hotel Bavaria Features spacious, traditionally furnished rooms and attentive personal service. It is just 220 yards from Florence Cathedral and a 7-minute walk from the Uffizi Gallery.
Score from 443 reviews Very good
Beautiful property - stunning view from room. The breakfast excellent. Lunch and dinner exceptional though extra cost. Loved the quiet atmosphere and waking up to the nuns chanting during their morning mass.
It was a difficult walk from centre of Florence.
It is an experience to stay in a nice convent
120 per night for a room is double the price I would consider value for money Breakfast at 8:30 sharp Guest are expected to be back at the 'hotel' at 23 hours (access only provided by a nun opening the gate and door for you) Italian language only
The gardens and view were breathtaking....it felt like being in a period film. Amazing accommodations for the price and the evening meals were delicious. I didn't spend as much time in Firenze as the Villa was hard to leave in the morning!
Friendliness of the nuns. Clean and quiet room with all basic facilities. Garden and beautiful views. Location, though its a place for rather fit people. I was walking every day up and down to the centre, which was quite challenging, but as a sportive type I loved it. Good connection to the railway station by bus, but you need to walk uphill with your luggage for about 10 minutes from the bus stop.
Beautiful, very quiet accommodation, walkable to the centre of Florence. The hotel doubles as a convent and guests are looked after by the Nuns. The grounds are fabulous and guests are encouraged to explore the extensive gardens. Dinner can be ordered and is of top quality for a fixed piece of 25 euros.
Breakfast is limited; no coffee making facilities or telly in rooms and the Wi-Fi didn't work. All minor considerations when the character of the building, the wonderful position of the hotel and the fabulous service offered by the Nuns all made for a memorable stay.
Tranquil very beautiful surroundings
Tea making facilities in the common areas would be an improvement
typical italien breakfast
Location looking over florence is perfect, especially if you have a car to park as the city is a nightmare otherwise. The gardens are beautiful and rooms are relatively spacious. Above all, it's not the type of place you get to stay every day and this is worth the trip. Nuns speak no english so beware of that before you come and don't whinge about it after (spoilt Americans I'm looking at you)
Shower head was caked in limescale so very erratic spray.
Beautiful villa area of Florence but mainly convenient if you move around with car, steep hills so walking is not the easiest. Private parking and sweet nuns, although they do not speak English - but you always find a way to communicate. Breakfast good.
No WiFi signal to be found anywhere - too poor. Beds are not the most comfortable but the rooms are clean. You do need to wake up someone from staff if you arrive late at night - which you often do after long and late Italian dinners. And to be honest in a place like this it feels extra disturbing to have to do that...
Great! Nice location. Meet and serve very cute nuns, clean range, good service, breakfast, modestly and tastefully. Magnificent garden where we stay for a long time!
My daughter is in a wheelchair. The nuns were very accommodating . She was able to get in shower and on bus easy to get into town. Beautiful, peaceful grounds.
big parking place; nice breakfast; very nice experience in this old monastory building. Will live longer here next time
it is a little bit far from city center; have to transfer two bus there
The beautiful gardens and being located just outside of the old city. We were very fortunate to experience an amazing thunder and lightning show from our window in the late evening that lasted two hours.
When staying there you need to remember that the nuns hold service in the Villa and to mindful. Both my daughters had never experienced nuns before and were not sure what to make of it. But the beauty of the location changed how they felt and had an amazing time there.
I really love that atmosphere. Great setting old villa with large garden and surrounding. Piazza Michelangelo on walking distance and from there to the centre of Florence. I can enjoy an incredible garden...
no wifi...its needed to be back on hotel until 11pm...nuns dont speak english
The sisters were very welcoming and made you feel at home. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have all that is necessary. The food was good and tasty. The rooms downstairs are lovely. The gardens are a national monument and are a joy to wander around.
Insects! Got badly bitten!
Wonderful place for enyoing in the spirit of Florence
A price of a dinner is little bit expensive.
The nunnes were very friendly and helpful. The garden of the Villa is very beautiful. Dinner very delicious. Rooms very clean. Walk into the Center is very beautiful, lovely view of the city
Breakfast poor and very basic. The location can be a disadvantage because it takes 30 mins to walk to the center, and the walk back is steep uphill.
It is not your traditional hotel, but the experience is unique. It is run by nuns (we only met one from day one to our exit, who did everything, from the welcoming to the check out). The surroundings are beautiful, the rooms are a little bit Spartans, no luxuries, but have everything necessary. It is located on a hill top facing the city. Far enough from the city center to go by walk but only 5 minutes by car to Porta romana car parking, and from there Ponte vecchia is only a 1km away.
The nuns don't speak English
The chanting of the Sisters, and their welcoming smiles
As other visitors have already stated, the stay at Villa Agape is an experience. The views, the location, the nuns, the staff, all add to this wonderful experience. Thanks to all for making this family holiday a memorable one.
Maybe the Internet connection points should be added, because the wi-fi is poor in some locations within the hotel
Lovely environment, with very comfortable accommodation. Close to the town and attractions.
Food could have been a bit more varied. The desserts were always the same.
The sisters were caring and very helpful to provide an adapter, book taxis etc. Although I don´t speak Italian we somehow understood each other. The dinner was good local food with fantastic desert in form of a pear cake with choclate shavings. The well cared for gardens put the neglected Boboli Gardens to shame. My stay was an absolute delight!
The views and the garden is even more beautiful than the pictures!
Nobody spoke a word English and nobody responded on my e-mails before I came up. I emailed and called about placing an extra bed for a friend who came along, but when she turned up we had to book an extra single room and could not go into a double.
- Great atmosphere - Impressive building - Good views to Florence
Villa Agape is not just a place to stay, it's an experience in and of itself. The nuns are absolutely wonderful, the gardens are beautiful, and the three-course meals are excellent. I would love to go back after learning more Italian as the nuns speak little to no English. Despite this, however, they do their very best to accommodate your requests. Villa Agape is an amazing place to stay and I hope you decide to make it your "home" while in Florence.
