The location was perfect and easy to find. We did not mind the walk to and from town at all. It was great exercise, especially after dinner. The parking spot was a very good added benefit. Wonderful view of Etna. Very interesting set up.The rooftop pool was a great touch, especially after we arrived with jetlag and needed a quick and easy pick me up. The breakfast was outstanding- very fresh, many delicious home baked choices. The room was comfortable, large, and clean. It worked well for 3 adults. Fatima was very sweet, accommodating, pleasant to deal with, and helpful.

Views, setting, how friendly the lady running it is. Privacy, views at breakfast, pool view, parking privately, veranda was perfect with our room, room clean and lovely. With lovely stroll to town.

A little pricey but is still a case of getting what you pay for.

    - The suite room's balcony had a big and nice view. - Breakfast was simple but good. - The room was big and comfortable.

    - The clean lady did not change towels before we asked it. - To the centrum, it was very creepy and there were many steps. - The receptionist was not friendly. - For the beach, there were 3 time slots for each of 'go' and 'back'. A shuttle bus was small and it stopped by at several hotels, we were not able to book the return bus on our preferred time slot. So it is recommendable to book the bus sufficiently in advance.

Fatima was so welcoming and accommodating and we couldn't fault the service or the facilities at all! Fresh towels and room tidied every day. Plenty of choice for breakfast and so pleasant to sit on the terrace for it facing THE most spectacular was difficult for us to leave this place behind us! I would definitely recommend Villa Barone and would not hesitate in a return visit some time.

The only tiny negative I could say about the place if I was to nit-pick is that it was a little further away from the town and higher up the hill than I would have liked BUT is still within walking distance, which we did every day and evening without any problems.

You know when you go somewhere and you instantly are made to feel welcome and at home, this is exactly how we felt. The view from all areas is stunning, of Taormina and Etna, the roof top pool is wonderfully clean (like everywhere) inviting and relaxing (who cares if you have to wear a swimming cap!) Breakfast was yummy and simple and they will happily cater for dietary needs (I am gluten fee it wasn't an issue). Yes you have to walk but you do everywhere in the town, it's worth it for the views and to away from the busy main streets. Our room and terrace were huge and very clean, our room was cleaned and ready by the time we finished breakfast. We cannot rate this place highly enough!!!

The spacious apartment and the fantastic balcony and views. Having facilities for coffee/tea and the nice breakfast on the patio

The crazy curtains in the bathroom, just needs blinds then you could have more light and space for toiletries

Beautiful views, fantastic rooms, and convenient off-street parking. The jacuzzi bath is impressive and the mini-bar well-stocked (hic!). I would highly recommend this fabulous place and look forward to being able to visit it again in the near future.

Not a dislike, but an observation. The main part of Taormina is a five minute walk away, down a series of stairs and a couple of steep slopes. Would not suit a person of limited mobility or unsteady on their feet. We didn't find it a problem, but others might.

The owners of the places are great and kind people - met us at a train station, drove us to the upper village when it was not a good weather, was trying to do everything to accommodate our needs and also help with renting a car for a reasonable price - big thanks!

The only issue we faced was that the previous guest was smoking despite it is not allowed so we had to move to another room for 1 night due to allergy while it was not possible to stay there more due to other family coming. In any case it was clearly not the owners fault and we had all the support from them to resolve this. Wifi didn't work in our room but we could catch it next to reception if needed so was not a big deal.

There were four of us who stayed in two rooms. My boyfriend and I shared the room with the large terrace. The terrace was amazing; the views incredible. The B&B sits high on the hill above the centro of Taormina and there is a series of steps leading down to the main street. I enjoyed the walk down and didn't mind the walk up but it is not for those who are old, infirm, out of shape or just lazy. The scent of jasmine, which was in full bloom throughout the city, permeated the air on the walk down.

The room was not particularly comfortable. The bed was hard; pillows were flat; furnishings were a bit old-fashioned and fussy. And we stayed in places throughout Italy so I'm comparing this to other Italian places, not commercial hotels in the usa. Absolutely no internet or wireless and the person on-site was not entirely forthcoming about that; telling us that it was available on the main floor and would come up after "a while." It "never came up" so do not believe the write-up for the hotel stating that it is available in all areas; there was an internet modem in our room that was totally dead and the sat tv did not work either. The whole place needs some minor upgrades and repairs; our traveling companions had the room with a huge bathroom that was very non-functional: dim lighting and a faucet that spewed a jet of water over the counter. Our jacuzzi shower had rusted elements and non-functioning items. The whole place is filled with photos of the owners' sons; there must have been well over 150 of them and we found it creepy. Breakfast was adequate; didn't compare to other places in Italy. The person on-site was friendly but only there between 8am and 6pm and wanted to know two weeks in advance what time we would be arriving. Frankly, I would not stay in this place again; although we thoroughly enjoyed sipping wine from the terrace in the early evening. But for the money, one can do better in Taormina.

The view is just great! Very nice room (Suite Arance), very friendly and helpful staff (Samantha), good breakfast, shuttle service to the beaches. A few words regarding the location: It is only a ten minutes walk to the center of Taormina. Yes, it's steep, but we even enjoyed the walk up the hill after a good dinner and a bottle of wine. So no worries about this!

WLAN didn't work in our room. Wearing a swimming cap feels a bit awkward these days.

Villa Barone is highly recommended. We enjoyed the hospitality, the beautiful room, fantastic views, the service and helpfulness of Samatha and the delicious breakfast with great coffee from Angela. Samantha and Angela, thank you! Fino alla prossima volta in cui ci chiediamo di nuovo ogni mattina per 'un altro'.

Nice and helpful staff. We had booked a room of which the airco was broken, we found out during the first night. This was of course not very pleasant. The next day we were offered a different room, which we were told was almost twice the price. Naturally, we were not charged extra. This was the best they could have done in this situation. The room we were moved to had a huge private terrace and the most magnificent view over Taormina, the bay and the Etna. The place is walking distance from the town (about 15 minutes), but one needs a good pair of legs, to walk up and down the stairs. This characteristic of Taormina, as the whole town is built on a steep slope. Each move towards or away from the shore means descending and ascending stairs (in that order).

The owner of this place must be the world's most vain and narcissist man alive. The walls throughout all the public spaces of Villa Barone are from top to bottom covered with framed pictures of the owner posing in all sorts of settings, sometimes alone (these are the funniest), but mostly with celebrities who have stopped by his restaurant, which he has in downtown Taormina. We are talking about literally 100's of photographs. The man's face still haunts me in my dreams to this day. The first thing you see in the morning when exiting the room is some 20 pairs of eyes from the same face looking you in the eyes with a pretentious, disinterested glance. At first you are in awe of vast number of celebs the man has met, but in the course of a few days days this changes from being entertaining to being annoying, to scary, to ridiculous, to funny and then back to annoying. Moreover, in the restaurant, we discovered that the whole oeuvre is also present, but even better; it features a TV screen on the outside which runs a slide show with all the pictures (again!) and added text with the names of all the celebs. I have never encountered such a shameless display of conceit in my entire life, which is so comical and tragic at the same time.

We were given a warm welcome, the atmosphere of the villa was very cosy. The view from our balcony was stunning. Samantha will do anything for your stay to be as good as possible. Angela makes lovely breakfast. And of course, make sure to dine at La Botte.

Our holidays came to an end.

The apartment was nicely decorated and equipped. You have great views of Taormina & Mt. Etna (on a clear day) from the hotel's balcony. There was also a swimming atop the hotel. It's nice if you need to cool off and doesn't want to go to the beach. Breakfast was wonderful with great variety of selections. Our host Samantha was friendly and welcoming. She provided us with informations to help us find our way around town. Parking along side the streets is possible. Otherwise, you can reserve in advance a private parking space for 5EUR/day.

Driving up the steep hills could be stressful if you are not used to driving in this type of environment. But once you get up there, the beautiful views are worth it.

Service was great and the views are spectacular! The pool looked nice.

You need a car to get around - it`s about 10 min to walk downhill to the centre of Taormina. We never walked back up - it`s quite steep and a lot of steps (10 euros with a taxi). The bed was hard and uncomfortable.

The views from the hotel are amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We were a little disappointed as the B&B is quite dated. The air conditioning unit rattled alot and was too loud to sleep with on. The quality of the breakfast wasnt great. The food was nicely prepared but the quality of the food itself, especially of the coffee was poor. Although there is a pool we felt like a bit of a nuisance when we wanted to use it. Also the area around the pool isnt very welcoming.
