“ The lovely, lovely staff - very friendly, courteous and helpful. Hotel's look was rustic and cosy and was an imaginative and successful restoration of an old farm house. Atrractive location and close to both the city walls and train station. ”

Beautiful pool area in lovely surroundings. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Lovely buildings. Great place to relax and unwind. Bit of a hike into Lucca but pool and views made up for this.

Nice house and big rooms. Breakfast was o.k. WIFI in the room Loud rooms - you can hear every movement from other guests. We got a smoker-room, but we ordered a nonsmoking room. Could not be changed as hotel was full.

This place is fantastic. Amazing rooms and decor, friendly staff and a breakfast buffet like none we have seen before. I 100% recommend this accomodation. Also, the restaurant that was recommended Casa de Nonna was the best meal experience we have had in Italy.

Wonderful rustic room on the outskirts of the city. Owner was delightful and breakfast was nice...best coffee! I hope to travel here in the summer and stay in the new castle hotel they are building. Location is outside of the city, but only a 10 minute walk to the city wall. It can be a bit dangerous as there are few sidewalks.

CDD is unique hotel. Its a renovated barn located just a 10 minute walk from the walls of Lucca. The rooms are quite nice and decorated very well. Breakfast is good. The only possible negative is the lack of good sound insulation between some of the rooms. Sugest you ask for the rooms on the ground floor which are accessable from the outside. Stefano is wonderful and does his best to insure a pleasant stay. JR

The room was clean and pleasant although the medieval theme is overdone. The advertised pool had been drained some time before. Breakfast arrangements were in a tent beside the drained pool in the garden. At this time of year it was very cold and it rained in.Slugs were climbing the tent sides in proximity to the food table. there was no bar or sitting area inside the building. A major building project was underway with heavy machinery (diggers and concrete mixers on the site during the day.

This hotel is really beautiful. Our room was spacious and clean and had an amazing view. About 15 minute walk to the town or you can also drive in 5 minutes, so after a nice supper the walk is welcome. We love the style of the hotel and tranquility. Breakfast was nice too. Great price for this hotel. The walls are not sound proove, so you get to hear what you neighbours are up to.

Looked good from outside, good setting for hotel in warm weather, only 800m to walk into the town down side roads. Not being given the room that was booked, superior booked and got family! got correct room a day late. Breakfast only half of the 4 slice toaster worked, and everyone knew about it, cordial for orange juice, asked for boiled eggs 15 mins before 10am told we were too late. In the warmer months going for breakfast outside is ok but when it is raining or colder this would not be suitable. I know it was October but outside area needed attention, pool looked green, and there was 2 worms were in the pool! Shower in both rooms we had were just large enough to stand up in, (shower head in family room leaked and was very loose which is not very good when adjusting the temperature). The showers definately need to be changed for a more modern type and size. Tv in superior room has a green picture, and bath leaks.

It was very atmospheric. The attic room was very very dark with two very small windows. The lamps are very low wattage and it's impossible to see to put on your makeup. The bed was in front of one of the very small windows and we had to pull it out to the middle of the room to open the window. The bed took up all the floor space (room 18). We got bitten by a mosquito in the room but I'm sure the hotel didn't put it there.

Was a great mini break, ideal for relaxing! If you are looking for things to do, then hire a car, but if you are looking for a chilled out few days this is a perfect location. I did'nt mind but a few people commented on staffing levels, bearing in mind in off season there is only 1 person manning the desk and other things at the hotel but this did not bother me as they were very accomodating when I asked for anything, plus I found it a bonus that we were not bothered with lots of people.

It is very convenient to Lucca ( 15 min walk to the city walls). Convenient access off the motorway. We travelled from Florence and had no problem finding the Lucca exit. It is only a short distance down the motorway to Pisa. We greatly appreciated the convenience of the pool on site. Our only "complaint" would be noise level due to the location of our room near to the reception area.

A very authentic place that we loved from the moment we walked in, so we extended our stay. It has a unique aura about it and is close to most things in Lucca and nearby places. I guess the fact that a few little things didn't work as expected but we got round this.

The hotel is very well presented. It was a pleasant surprise. The location was perfect, not far from the city walls. Bikes were available for us, and we rode them everywhere, as it is a very easy place to get around. Breakfast by the pool each day was lovely. It was a fantastic hotel for the price, and we highly recommend it. Wi-fi fell short of expectations of the modern traveller.

Very nice property; well maintained on the exterior. Walking distance to the walled city of Lucca. In room 1, after informing the staff at the desk on our arrival date, the staff did not respond to non working tv for two days; it was still not working on our departure date. No refrigerator in the room, even though it is advertised on your web site. In room number two, there was a refrigerator in the room, however there was mold living therein!!
