Villa Cortine Palace Hotel  

We had stayed at the hotel 4 years previously so knew what we were going back to in terms of the location. This is really the big plus about this hotel. It sits within the walls of the old town so access into and out of the centre is easy. However it is also above the town and has lovely and extensive gardens so that it represents a lovely peaceful oasis from the town into which to retreat.We were also pleased with the size of the room - lots of space to play with, a sizeable bathroom and a large well furnished balcony on which to relax - although this was to be expected since it was one of their de luxe rooms.

4 years on from our previous visit the hotel is now beginning to look a little run down.The bathrooms need major refurbishment - the marble is old and tired, the shower cubicle door looked like a very dated do-it-yourself job and the hairdryer was comng away from the wall. Water pressure was variable and never really strong enough in the shower.Likewise the bedroom, though comfortable enough had a very old look about it and the decoration and paintwork look tired and rather oppressive. The television in the bedroom has only a limited number of channels and ( supposedly ) only one in English but that was not working during the whole of our ten day stay.Breakfast is a buffet style and was rather disappointing as regards choice, and there seemed to be frequent shortages which staff were not alert to replenishing ( and sometimes didn't replenish at all!) We had dinner twice in the hotel and although the food was good the menu is short and unchanging so that if dining every night say on a half board basis, you might quickly run out of choices, particularly if like one of our party, you have a fish intolerance. Despite having mentioned this fish issue, which they appeared to have taken on board, we were on both nights served small pre starters which were entirely fish based and when we pointed out that this could not be eaten by one of us, it was removed but no substitute was offered. This is a small but I think important example of where there is a lack of attention to detail in what is after all meant to be a very superior hotel. The dining room staff were generally poor in terms of their willingness to engage with the guests. ( in contrast, the cleaning staff, the concierge and the pool attendant were marvellous ) All in all, this is a building in a fabulous location with terrific gardens but a building in need of some major refurbishment and a big reappraisal of its approach to its customers.

Access to The hotel by Car somewhat a Challenge since you have to Cross The historical Center of The town

We have been to this hotel 6 times over a period of twenty years. It therefore has nostalgic appeal besides being very accessible to Verona where we attend the opera in the Roman arena. The hotel has changed considerably both in clientele and services but still retains a great deal of charm.

The hotel has lost some of its exclusivity and there is evidence of quite a lot of cost cutting to go with it. In fairness the room rate is also considerably lower than it used to be.

Il parco e la posizione. Le stanze sono comunque molto belle ed I bagni in particolare sono veramente lussuosi. La colazione del mattino nel parco con la spremuta fresca noi eravamo con il cane e tutti sono stati davvero gentili ed affettuosi, inoltre era davvero semplice uscire e rientrare, anche di notte.

Niente di grave, ma di solito in un 5 stelle I quotidiani sono offerti

Mycket fint beläget hotell, I ett fantastiskt läge vid Gardasjön med egen sjötont och brygga. Man kommer inte närmare sjön än så här. Byggnaden är lyxig men med charm och tilltalande inredning. Spa och pool var mycket bra. Terasssen ger en magnifik vy över sjön. Hotellrummen med sina tillhörande små terasser ger en lyxia känsla och närhet till sjön samt stor mysfaktor.

Hotellet har riktat in sig på tyska turister och de majoriteten av hotellgästerna var tyskar som präglar därefter hotellverksamheten och stäminingen. Innebar att bland annat menyer och information var både på italienska och tyska samt språket som I första hand används av personalen gentemot gästerna var tyska. Den italienska stämning som vi sökte, och som som vi bemöttes av på andra hotell av samma kaliber kring Gardasjön, saknades. Personalen I framförallt matsalen var tidsvis inte särskilt tillsmötesgående och saknade den extra omtanke man kan förvänta sig av ett 5-stjärningt hotell. Hade behövts en en charmkurs. Däremot var personalen I recepetion mycket duktiga och trevliga som verkligen gav oss bra service.

Hotel situe dans un magnifique parc, grandiose........ Avec des cypres centenaires mais chambres-suite un peu viellottes par le prix demandé. Excellent service. Etape gastronomique. Proprete extra. , mais proximite de Verone pour opéras dans les arenes tres aprecié par une autoroute très proche. A recommander pour couple

Chambre ... mini suite ....... mobilier tres viellot, attende d une decoration un peu plus luxeuse pour le prix demandé....... Bouteille d'eau minérale manquante pour l'arrivée.

Nous avions l'impression d'être chez nous , le personnel est très agréable et efficace , le site est merveilleux et de plus il y a une très bonne table , après ce séjour a villa cortine nous aurons des difficultés a trouver mieux .
