Villa Cortine Palace Hotel    

The peace and quiet was good and the restaurant was excellent.

The staff were excellent and made a great stay truely memorable. Nothing was too much trouble and we're already planning our next visit.

Beautiful park and view, song birds, the smell of grass and trees... Friendly staff, excellent chef, cozy room... Ideal measure of the beauty of nature and comfort.

We stayed in Villa Cortine one night, Sep 20, 2012. I knew of this hotel from exalted reviews in all reputable travel books, but the rate was always prohibitive to us, until one day I ran into a non-refundable deal on Booking.com. And what a deal it was!!! Although still very expensive, I think this was a rare instance that I would pay more for the entire splendor we got. We were extremely lucky also in the weather – it was cloudlessly sunny and warm, and the whole Sirmione shone like a jewel. The drive through town, after checking at the police station, who had the hotel’s guest names (!!!) added to the suspense, and we arrived in true magic. The park is indescribably beautiful, and we were assigned a room in the oldest, authentic part of the building – the reception was apologetic, since that room did not have a balcony, but we were elated – we were back to those times in elegance, with parquet floor, intarsia furniture, 5-meter ceiling, huge Venetian chandelier, marble bathroom with huge bathtub – everything was of the incomparable quality of the bygone days. Then we discovered an open terrace with amazing views, then the private beach, so marvelous. Everything breathed of generosity and elegance. The walk to Sirmione and next morning to Grotte di Catullo was very short and beautiful. Dinner was good, breakfast excellent, as befits a 5-star hotel. It is certainly one of the best hotels Ive ever stayed. Compared to Lago Maggiore’s Il Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées, Villa Cortine is in a much more privileged location, boasting its own large park and a private beach, with no road separating the hotel from the lake, assuring total ambiance to its guests. The room was also larger and with higher ceilings. The room was very quiet, even though the bar was under it – the soundproofing in the old construction was obviously excellent. Parking is free and secure; WiFi is free also and worked well.

The only critique would be the piano music at dinner, which started later when the piano stopped playing at the bar. The pianist played beaten-up tunes which in the USA make a good part of the elevator music, or some other too familiar popular tunes. It ruined the elegant atmosphere somewhat. I think he should play something more agreeable for everyone, Chopin or in that style. Music is a controversial issue and not everyone wants to hear stuff from cheap trattoria or American elevator. I wish the hotel would pick a more tasteful piano repertoire or better yet, no music at all in the dining room – it’s best to consign it to the bar, as it is usually done in similar establishments – Grand Hotel Quisisana, for example. Next unpleasant surprise was a group of extremely loud and inconsiderate Dutch tourists at breakfast, who spoke loudly table to table and would enter the breakfast room in bath robes, barefoot, right from the swimming pool which was quite far. They acted in total disregard of the other guests. Another older Italian couple in the corner was talking nonstop on his/her own mobile phones. Of course, in a hotel like that they don’t tell guests how to behave, and it was sad that people abused the elegance of the place. Unable to cope with the unbearable noise in that dining room, we moved to another, adjacent one. Perhaps it was that non-refundable rate sale that brought in such unpolished public. This issue is hopefully transient, and next time we’ll just choose an empty breakfast room to avoid poorly behaved neighbors. Also, beware of a very slow drive through the heart of Sirmione,a pedestrian zone which at the time of our arrival at 2:00 pm was extremely crowded. Some might find such driving frightening, surrounded by crowds, moving at 5 km/hour. But...the hotel is a gem, unforgettable memories, strongly recommended!

Faded glory and vastly over priced. The exterior of the villa looks shabby. Restaurant staff excessive in number but poor in attentiveness.

Hotel is great. Views and garden are perfect. The only inconvenience was a noisy italian wedding in the hotel restaurant on saturday (but till 23-30 only)

Everything was excellent. Fabulous food, excellent service. Quiet gardens, good pool and private jetty , close to the town for shopping and choice of alternative restaurants. Easy access to the ferry point for trips around the lake. Fabulous views of the lake and mountains. Best hotel and staff we have met since we started to visit Italy ten years ago.

Everyone at the hotel was very service oriented and wanted our visit to be special and it was. The setting is fantastic and access to the town was easy and the dining at breakfast , lunch and dinner was great

The magnificent setting in a beautiful private garden overlooking Lake Garda is extraordinary.

It is very expensive (but probably worth it.)

Wonderfull location set in a private parc. Great swimming pool. Walking through the parc you end up at the lake shore with another restaurant end lying beds.

You need to drive through narrow streets of the town of Sirmione to get to the hotel. This is great fun the first time, after that it gets tedious because it takes about 10 minutes to get out of town.

Beautiful hotel and gardens with views of Lake Garda just a stone's throw away from the old town of Sirmione with its castle, restaurants and interesting shops. Good pool..

We were there for a week and liked to eat in the hotel in the evening rather than going out for dinner. The food was good but the menu was restricted and we would have liked more variety . a special dish of the day would be a good idea. The beach area was done as a boardwalk ( with good facilities) perhaps because the actual lake shore beside it had a lot of reeds and was not as attractive as the public beaches nearby.This was a bit disappointing.

Drinks and food in hotel very expensive. No facilities (room) to use once we had checked out- we could not have a shower before boarding our flight later in the day Could do with a spruce up- looked abit tired in places

Hotel ma fantastyczne położenie - prawie na samym końcu Sirmione, ale na terenie cudownego, wielkiego ogrodu. Ogród jest dostępny tylko dla gości hotelu. Hotel nie jest nowoczesny, czy nowy, ale w bardzo dobrym stylu. Duże, jasne pokoje z balkonem. My mieliśmy z widokiem na jezioro I basen. łAzienka duża, jednak kabina zbyt malutka. Po prostu brałam prysznic w wannie. Najcudowniejsza jest cisza I spokój oraz możliwość zaszycia się w ogrodzie w książką, gdzie kelnerzy donoszą wina, napoje, przekąski... Dodam, że byliśmy w hotelu przez 5 dni na początku maja. Na pewno nie było pełnego obłożenia. Panie sprzątające bardzo dyskretne. Codziennie zmieniana pościel.

Mam jedynie uwagę do jedzenia w hotelu. Nie jest zbyt smaczne :( Wykwintne? Owszem, ale niesmaczne. Nazwałabym to przerost formy nad treścią. Dlatego zdecydowaliśmy się zjeść kolację w hotelu tylko raz.

- eigentlich gibt es nichts zu beanstanden - ein Sauna- oder Wellnessbereich würde den Aufenthalt etwas wetterunabhängiger machen..

Contesto semplicemente splendido , arredi di vero lusso, pulizia esemplare. Staff cortese , disponibile, ma discreto, come si conviene in un posto del genere(ma che,ahimè, non è scontato...)

Nulla. O meglio, la cittadina non è allo stesso livello dell' hotel. Peccato.

La qualité de la chambre y compris literie. La disponibilité et efficacité discrète des employés. Le parc et le super petit déjeuner.

La traversée du village en voiture et l impossibilité de le traverser le samedi et dimanche surtout pour les plaques étrangères.

Nous avons aimé l'emplacement, très près du centre ville à pieds. Son élégance architecturale extérieure....."""en partie"""" Son parc Les chambres sont spacieuses et la vue sur le lac est belle Le petit déjeuner est très bien, divers et frais!

La partie architecturale rajoutée qui est une ''verrue"" Nous sommes tombés sur un week end de mariage......donc très bruyant!!!

L'attenzione alla "persona" e non al cliente.

La gentillesse du personnel surtout les femmes de chambres qui ont démonté le lit pour me mettre une couette sur le matelas que je trouvais dur et m'ont remis ensuite drap et couverture les matelas ont été renouvelés pour certaines chambres (au moins la 242 !) et c'est nettement moins dur . pour moi c'était le point faible) bon je suis difficile il faut que cela soit très confort mais là cela reste très agréable quand on connait la dureté moyenne des lits en Italie ! petit déjeuner honnête nous n'y avons pas diné. Je recommande en haute cuisine la vieille trattoria sur les murailles pas loin de l'hotel grifone et aussi le vecchio fossato pres d'une petite église. Attention beaucoup d'attrape touristes. Nous avions une bouteille de spumente et des raisins pour nous accueillir pour nos 3 jours et tous les soirs une carte avec une pensée écrite dessus.

Die Lage

Zimmer waren nicht so sauber, wie gewünscht. Das heißt nicht, sie waren schmutzig, aber in den Ecken lag doch etwas Staub und unterm Sofa wird wohl auch nicht so oft sauber gemacht... Aber alles in allem schöne Zimmer und ordentlich!
