A quiet location. Very near ruins, no noise in the evenings. Other guests friendly. Breakfast more that adequate, we couldn't finish it. We had dinner both nights there. Again a great many Italian courses, we couldn't eat it all, very tasty and best value in Italy.
The hotel was difficult to find as the sign was small and at an angle on the wall.
Everyone absolutely must stay here just to experience the delicious home cooked dinners! The best lasagne I've ever had! The breakfast is also delicious, fresh and generous. It is also very close to the Pompei ruins, if you are looking for a more lowkey getaway (unlike thecrowded Sorrento or fast paced Naples). My room was clean and spacious and large!
Although it didn't bother me at all sleeping with earplugs, if you go to bed early the Villa is near the train tracks so the bells ring every time a train goes through!
We only stayed for one night but we really felt welcome. The owners asked if we wanted to eat in the evening which was a very casual arangment (in a good way) so we thought we would agree and it did not disappoint! Good family cooked food, amazing! Recommend this little gem oh and PS did I say it's only a 10 minute walk to pompei!
nice people, great value for a good price! And it is just around the entrance of Pompei.
Nothing to worry about! Great deal!
The hosts were really lovely, very welcoming, approachable and accommodating. I was reluctant to eat here but after an exhausting day walking we chose to eat in and we had the best meal of our trip here, really great food and good portion size. For this only, its worth the stay! The room is spotless. Very close to the ruins.
The place is a little tired - ie sun loungers etc need a bit of an overhaul but its good value for money. You can hear the trains but we slept ok as I think they stop at night.
Is definitely ideally positioned to see Pompei scavi and close to the Circumvesuviana, staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and abundant. Shower works by solar panel but if someonelse takes too long you end up having a cold one.
Is very very close to railway so you'll hear it from your bedroom, luckily it stops relatively early in the evening but it also starts early in the morning, not ideal if you've got a light sleep. NO bars/restaurant around (apart for one) so you'll have to ask to dine in or walk to Pompei centre (15-20mins) to find a place to eat and then walk back.
Wonderful welcoming hosts The dinner meal was the best we had in Italy. Stay for dinner! Lovely room and location
Occasional tolerable train noise
Proximity to Pompeii ruins (5min walk) The elderly host is lovely
After reading so many great reviews of this hotel we were really looking forward to our stay here. Due to a few issues our stay was not what we had hoped for. Firstly we booked a double room with a balcony and were given an older room with bunk beds that backed onto the railway line, food at the restaurant is great however we felt that due to being young couple we were treated as second class. Our portions were half the size of other guests next to us and brought out last even if we had arrived first. this was also the same case with breakfast. This left us feeling pretty upset. We would not recommend this hotel to our friends or family based on our stay. Also The woman who helps with breakfast is extremely unpleasant to deal with and rude also.
Everything was outstanding - the warm welcome from the gracious hosts, the lovely and clean facilities, the convenient location, and the delicious food. I highly recommend having dinner here.
The food. The friendliness
Noise of passing trains
Friendly family owned. Superb coffee which was unlimited from the early morning Let us leave the car for the day while we saw Pompeii. Will definitely stay again. Very reasonable cost.
From when we arrived we were treated more like a family friend than a tourist . We were fed exceptionally well throughout and were pleasantly surprised with the final bill . The pool was clean but well tended and a lunchtime snack was a local recipe . All in all a wonderful stay .
No private safe in the room . But that's it !
This place is amazing if you are visiting the Pompeii ruins and don't want to stay in a big corporate expensive hotel. It is unique, and has a lovely family feel. Run by a nice manager, who also happens to be an amazing cook - him and his father have both worked in restaurants in Paris/London. They charged us 15 E for an amazing 3 course meal, with a little extra for wine, eaten al fresco by the pool. Was great that they do this as the town restaurants are about a 25min walk away, and we just wanted to stay put. The ruins are a 5 minute walk around the corner, and so was the metro stop. No complaints.
The place is not spotless/ perfect - you have to bear in mind what you are paying. But it is clean and comfortable for a good price.
A great base to discover Pompeii - a few minutes walk away. A few minutes walk from train station so Herculeum, Vesuvius and Naples all easily and relatively cheaply accessible. Super to be able to jump in the pool after a days sight seeing. The family run business is very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. Dinner at Villa Franca is superb value and fantastic food - some of our party ate there 3 out of 4 nights. A good tip is to take insect repellent/suncream with insect repellent! But that is true of all hot countries.
Friendliness and helpfulness of Guiseppe and his staff. Proximity to the Pompeii ruins was excellent.
Proximity of railway line/level crossing directly parallel to Villa Franca. Trains every 15 minutes from 6.30am until 10.30pm with the barrier warning very loud. Accommodation was actually in a hotel next door (no facilities just the room) and other guests were housed on the other side of the level crossing. No bar, no reception area, breakfast was outside under a canvas marquee. Pool quite small.
Food excellent Lovely pool area
Rooms rather dingy and depressing Advertised room as with balcony but none of rooms had one
Perfect kitchen, owner cooks himself, wonderful service, very nice old guy taking care of everything.
railway is too close.
Walking distance from the Pompeii ruins station. Lovely welcome from the family. Nice pool. Excellent meal in the evening.
Had to miss breakfast as early departure! Trains start at 6.30am and are very close and loud.
Excellent location Very friendly, helpful and efficient hosts Good dinner Spacious room and convenient pool.
Breakfast choice is limited
Pool was a welcome relief after our drive from Rome. Dinner in the evening was delicious!! About a ten minute walk to the entrance to Pompei, and the hosts let us leave our car parked on site after we had checked out that morning.
Nearby trains start running a bit early in the morning!
Good location to the Scavi - 10 min walk. Staff very friendly and extremely accomodating. Informal family run hotel - the owners make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Dinners are made by the owners and are amazing, delicious and only cost 12 Euros for a 5 course homemade meal. Room we stayed in was a little tired, but comfortable. Definitely recommended.
This is a simple hotel in a perfect location for visiting pompei, vesuvius, Herculaneum and Sorrento via train. The family are so welcoming and accommodating and the food at €15 euros a head is just amazing. They bring endless dishes of beautiful anti pasta, followed by a pasta course, meat and then fruit. We visited twice in our holiday and because they knew we loved our food we got even more on our second visit. Breakfast is also good, simple but plenty! I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return.
Swimming pool to relax in the midday heat was perfect Staff were amazing and welcoming as was the delicious homemade dinners Location for Pompeii and Vesuvius perfect.
Nothing. Hotel slightly dated but this added to its charm and lovely and clean regardless of this.
The hotel was total quality great situation for the ruins Try there cooking why would you need to go out when they do great food and drink and will make special meals for fussy eater like myself And they make your stay that bit special are they care about people
The hotel is a small, simple family run place just 10 minutes walk from the pompei ruins. On arrival both times (we stayed at the start and end of our holiday) we were greeted with a warm welcome and drinks. Our rooms were clean, simple and comfortable. There is a small pool to cool off in. The hotel is perfect for visiting the ruins, also vesuvius, Herculaneum and the train to Sorrento was at the bottom of the road and cost just €2.80 return. However the best part is the food, €15 a head gets you an endless supply of the most delicious food you've ever tasted and huge portions too. When they knew we liked everything they just brought more and more. The food varied from evening to evening and included bruschetta, meats, cheeses, anchovies, frittata, beautiful peppers, aubergines, courgettes, olives, whitebait, pasta dishes, meat course, deep fried pizza dough, fruit and much more. Breakfast was also a filling affair. There is free wifi and the family are just lovely and helpful you feel like you are staying with friends. The train runs straight passed which is quite loud but it stops at night time, not really a problem. We would definitely recommend this place, it's great!!
