Nice staff, cosy place, quiet and peaceful. Very good breakfast.
Wifi at the room was poor, needed to go to out the garden. There was once a problem with the shuttle service, it's better to call the host by phone to check out.
The breakfast was a buffet with lots of cakes and you could have a cappuccino or espresso.
It was not easy to get into town as the place offered an occasional shuttle but the shuttle was always late and one time it didn't show up at all. Be sure to ask for a room on the ocean side of the building so you get a view; our room was quite dark and with no view.
It was a quiet location at night, with air conditioning. Good location & we were pleasantly surprised with the free shuttle bus into town.Welcome splash pool, with good sitting areas. They were very helpful getting us to the station in Sorrento at 7am,when we left.
Nothing to dislike from our point of view.
Views! Lady at breakfast who made nice cakes !
Arrived late on Saturday evening and nobody but regular shuttle driver on reception...kept us waiting for 30 minutes whilst ringing around and constantly saying 'no problem!'..eventually whisked off in the shuttle bus up to a Convent 5 minutes away , 'just for the night' as there was no room or some problem with our room.was speechless a never had this before! Came down next day and lady on reception sort of apologetic but no real explanation given and couldn't get into room till 12am! Week continued in this vein, shuttle bus not turning up at allocated times ( and these weren't very often- big 4 hour gap from 3.20 till 7.20 just when you needed it and really too far and steep to walk up from Sorrento...large group of young trainee chefs dominating the place and obviously the hotel's priority, mix up with transfer to gte on eof us to the airport, damp room , no change of towels in one week etc etc..! Spoke to owner when shuttle didn;'t turn up again, and we stranded and he did apologise and sent us 2 bottles of wine! Didn't want this though, just wanted a place to enjoy our week away and this is NOT the place to do that. Staff do try but would not recommed this hotel to anybody!
I agree with almost everything that Joyce from Rocca di Papa has said. We didn't get the little surprises in our room each day, but the Villa offers such excellent value that we never expected any such thing.
There was nothing that we didn't like
A very substandard accommodation. Strong smell of dampness and urine in room with plaster peeling off the wall. Staff especially the woman in charge was very abrupt and ignorant. Breakfast poor selection and certainly not fresh. Shuttle service unreliable
Lovely location with beautiful surroundings. The walk into Sorrento was really pretty, coming back up took longer as it is a steep hill! However there is a reliable courtesy bus. A lovely few days. Would definately go back if in the area again.
Staff breakfast views cleanliness
The shuttle service did not run to schedule specially for the return journey, a few time was left stranded at the pick up point and was forced to take a taxi which cost 28 euros each time. Not enough information regarding transport
staff always helpful and friendly always enjoyed walk into town and sometimes back
not always enough room on shuttle bus to go into town for people who were not fit enough walking is not an option. Also times given for pick ups did not always arrive.
I was very impressed with the location , personal attention and hospitality. The staff was superb and went out of their way to accomdate us.
Our room was in the lower property area...not the best.
The shower head handle in the toilet was broken and the air conditioning was a bit too noisy. Dont go to eat at the restaurant at the top, the food is terrible and so is the service.
Pool was lovely on a hot day - staff were very helpful and friendly esp Maria who was lovely. Appreciated the free welcome drink. Views amazing and shuttle service great
Hard to find ~u need to go to hotel johanna and the path to the hotel giovanna is on the right. Stranded in the heat in Sorrento when there was a shuttle timing misunderstanding - double check shuttle times
Excellent value for money, the "single room" was actually a lot bigger than my friends hotel room which was a lot more expensive. Only very slight negative was the Wifi did not reach my room but hey... I'm on holiday, my emails can wait.
No coat hangers in the wardrobe.
The garden and view Was Great. Bus to town Was good. Happy to comeback back!
The room was smelling very bad. The building is very old. The breakfast was pretty poor; no cappuccino, just bad coffee. Also, it was very difficult to find Villa, no indication at all.
|I loved the rustic feel and the non clinical helpfulness of the staff and how they bent over backwards to help in any way. The free shuttle to Sorrento which was great. The gardens filled with well cared for shrubs, bushes, flowers and paths, the great breakfast, the relaxed feeling. I have read other reviews and do not agree with the "meagre breakfast" it was wonderful, hoem made cakes, scrambled eggs, toasts, selection of marmalades and jams, swett breads, hoem mad ebread, fresh orange juice on request, cheeses, hams, saslamis, everythign you could wish for. I also read about the rooms not being clean, ours were spotless and serviced every day and there was always a little surprise waiting for us on our return, like, fresh fruit basket, sweets, a couple of bottles of beer, fresh flowers. Fantastic! oVerall just the ticket!
there was nothing I didn't like.
Clean and comfortable rooms with good design. Parking space. Has swimming pool and decorated public zones outdoors. Good breakfast.
Almost impossible to find hotel without GPS. Very far from center of Sorrento, but provides a shuttle bus once per 2 hours. Wifi is too weak in rooms, but fine outdoors.
Villa Giovanna is a beautiful and relaxing place. We really enjoyed our stay: the breakfast was great, the pool was brilliant and the views were stunning and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a little ways out of town but worth it for the views and price. The walk down to Sorrento is a nice way to start the day but walking back up, especially in the heat, is tough. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.
The villa offers a shuttle bus to and from sorrento and although it is great for the journey down, the bus didn't always show up to come back from town, which meant walking up the hill at night (safe and fairly well lit but not what you want to do after a massive plate of pasta!) also the times of the buses didn't quite suit how we planned out our days but that wont be a problem for lots of people. Overall though I didn't dislike anything and was very happy staying there.
The staff were very friendly indeed. The location was also nice, albeit a little far from the town centre, although this did not detract from the whole experience.
the rooms although cleaned on a daily basis were not cleaned to a high standard. The WiFi did not work in the room which was some what annoying
Staff really helpful and friendly. Lovely peaceful location with a shuttle bus on offer to the main square.
Some rooms on the ground floor could do with repainting as a bright green in colour. Wifi wouldn't always connect in your room.
It is set above the town of Sorrento with lovely views and a real feel of an Italian Villa. It is quiet and relaxed, the staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and brilliant croissants. There are lots of lovely shaded places to sit in amongst the olive and lemon trees and look across the bay of Naples. The walk down into town through the olive groves has brilliant views. Great base to explore the area. (Worth getting a shuttle from the airport)
Great place with large rooms .great view , shuttle to town . Great Breakfast.
On the last day there we needed to go to the train station the shuttle driver would not drive the extra 5 minutes to the station. With our suite cases dragging behind us we fond a taxi to take us which cost about $20.00.
Breakfast was lovely & staff most helpful. Good quiet place with lovely views and relaxing outdoor area. Good restaurant 100meters away for lovely meals. Good place for good value. Courtesy bus avaliable.
No complaints. Walk to the town centre of Sorrento was great for fit people but could be a challenge for people who don't like walking.
Great view over the Gulf of Sorrento and Gulf of Naples! Free shuttle to Sorrento. Good breakfast, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff.
WiFi could work better. Room could be cleaner. It's not an easy place to find when arriving by car.
Staff, wiew, free parking
