Located on Corso Umberto I in Taormina's pedestrian area, Residence Circe has been completely modernised and offers air-conditioned apartments. The ancient Greek-Roman Theatre is 5 minutes' walk away....
Score from 213 reviews Very good
Pleasant staff and beautiful views. The view is the factor in my valuation of location; otherwise, even though the bus goes by the door, this hotel is not easily accessible.
The view of Etna was amazing could see lava at night, they organize tours for you, breakfast was delicious
Small shower, quite a big(steep hill) walk to hotel, thin walls could everything else going on at night, air con struggled to get the room cold
This Hotel is AMAZING, the staff very helpful, the management team is always willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Its not close to the beach, however after breakfast a walk down the stairs will have you ready to go
The scenery was amazing!
They should definetely refurbish their facilities.
Form our room's balcony , the view of the sea,Taormina and Etna was wonderful.the room was basıc but very clean and comfortable, the staff was kind and helpfull.
I think every room in the hotel has a magnificent sea view with Mt. Etna to the right! We were stunned by the location, our own terrace, the restaurant and the staff. The restaurant is one of the best we have eaten in and it is not expensive. Beautiful food prepared with love and care. Fantastico!
The walk into town is fine - 10 mins down stairs to the main street of Taormina but the uphill takes 20 mins (hot in summer) and the bus is good, but only every hour. With a group of 4 taxis up might be the answer.
balcony views of mount etna and the surrounding area are amazing
Loved our stay at villa greta, staff were all so lovely, couldn't do enough for us! Rooms cleaned daily to a very high standard and views from our balcony of mt.etna erupting at night were just amazing!! Really enjoyed breakfast too which was simple but kept us going till dinner!
Location was amazing view- wise and we were fine going up and down to town using all the steps but the location wouldn't suit older/ less able people.
The way the hotel is built up the side of the mountain. You come out of your room, down some stairs and then your outside on a veranda and then down some stairs and in the dinning room with all the windows folded back so inside again but a feeling of being outside. A lovely view of Etna an, Taormina and the sea. We had a balcony and could sit and gaze at the view. The staff were very helpful when I was ill during our stay.
There wasn't anything not to like really. The windy road below could be a little noisy on occasion but it didn't spoil our stay. The transport is very frequent and inexpensive. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The staff particularly ellinore were excellent the dining was better there than in town views are excellent cannot fault the service .we would stay there again
You need to be aware there are lots of stairs .the staff will help.
The views of both the bay and Mount Etna were spectacular. Very friendly staff.
The local buses aren't frequent enough. That's all I can think of to criticize!
Pino and Elena were wonderful hosts, who made us feel at home -- and even went out of their way to try to help us solve some unexpected travel problems. The view was amazing. From our balcony we could look down to the ocean and up to Mt. Etna. (Incredible by moonlight!) Our bed was very comfortable after a long day's ramble. Breakfast was good, again looking over the bay. I also loved that you could drink the water, unlike so many places we stayed.
The only thing wrong with the room was the TV. The volume controls were removed, so low-volume channels were inaudible. Luckily, we don't watch much TV, so it wasn't much of a loss. It's a difficult walk back up to the hotel from the town. If you miss the last bus, it's a 15 Euro cab -- that can add up. (If you're driving, you can park in the town for about half that amount.)
It was a nice bed and breakfast. The room was always kept tidy. The breakfast was good too.
Everything about this hotel was great. The location is definitely a bit of a hike from town, but it's worth it for the views and the peace and quiet! We had a large room overlooking the sea and Mt. Etna (which unfortunately was quiet during our visit, but if it were erupting we would have seen it right from our balcony at night). The bathroom was very sizable, with double sinks...unheard of over here! Breakfast was excellent and the staff was very helpful. We would definitely come back.
The food in restaurant is really tasty , made by owner - great
The staff is not really Wellcome a- I think They don't care - only owner look after well - woman ( she is really Nice person ) problem with Iron Board and Iron - they have it but not give in you . Even I had Wedding my friend and I didn't have iron shirt and suit - I was little bit panic ..,
Just good location and great view from the room and restaurant.
rooms very small with unpleasant smell. Breakfast not good, coffee especialy. In restaurant NO MENIU, in this case owners gives you 3 EUR cost wine per bottle for 5 eur per glass.
The view of Etna and the bay
Feeling of clinging to a cliff
The location is great with a very nice view of the sea, it takes 5min to get to the pedestrian zone (though you have to face several staircases :-)). Parking on the street is quite hard and dangerous in my opinion, so you can use the private parking the hotel offer to relax more during your holidays. The staff is very good and a big thanks to Elena who was really really great, kind and helpful.
Perhaps the lack of internet in the rooms, anyway you can access it from the reception/restaurant. Moreover, it's written in the ads, so one cannot complain ;-)
It is a perfect place with very-very nice staff. The breakfest is super and the hotel is near from the centrum. I can just recommend.
Very nice view to the sea and the Etna from the hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast, it is close to the old town.
It's not easy to climb the stairs to the hill with your bags, so I recommend you to take a taxi when you arrive.
Breakfast was great and location is very close to center. Sea view is fantastic.
There wasn't wifi and room smelled very bad to cigarette.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
20 minute downhill walk on a narrow road with no sidewalks into town, the uphill walk back to the hotel takes longer. Costs 15Euros each way in a cab.
Great owner & staff
This hotel is quite affordable, compared to many other hotels in Taormina, which is very touristy city with inflated prices. Villa Greta is well above the city center, therefore most rooms have an excellent view of the mountains, the upper town and the bay. There is a restaurant on the premises, and the chef is very friendly and helpful - we've arrived starving and quite late in the evening and still got some simple but great dinner with an excellent wine - despite almost all the other eaters have left by that time. Old town is quite easy to reach if you take the shortcut by the stairs (ask for directions at the Villa). Making the same way upstairs can be tricky - we were exhausted by the end of the day, so took a taxi up the hill. The ride was about 10 EUR from the center.
This hotel is not to everybody's liking: it's built on a very steep slope of the hill and resembles a submarine - extremely compact spaces, steep and narrow stairs everywhere, they don't even waste space for reception - it's all in one place (bar, reception, restaurant, breakfast area) and usually all staffed by 1 person. Breakfast is very basic - even for a Sicilian hotel (instant coffee - you have to ask for the real one, canned fruit, juice from tetrapak...). Parking is only available for a fee. Superior rooms are alright, but standard rooms merely basic. The whole place is visibly run down and probably enjoyed the last refurbishment in early nineties. Climbing the hill from the old town could be quite a challenge if you are with small children or elderly. Once you reached the hotel it's impossible to avoid the stairs - they are virtually everywhere.
the parcking is on the main road and to reach the normal rooms you need steping down an up about 90 stairs!
