Hotel Villa IgeaCastello, Campo San Zaccaria 4684, Castello, 30122 Venice (Show map) Excellent, Score from 222 reviews“Very nice room, very nice staff”
Romain,
Montréal
Built in 1875, Villa Igea is located in Campo San Zaccaria, surely one of Venice's loveliest squares. History lovers can visit the relics of 8 early doges, the rulers of Venice, lie in the waterlogged crypt under the Chapel of San Tarasio. Villa Igea boasts 17 rooms, decorated in charming Venetian style, half of which look onto the sunny Campo and imposing façade of the San Zaccaria Church, considered a Renaissance masterpiece. The location was excellent, very easy to get to from airport-just get the water bus directly to San Zaccharia and the hotel is opposite the church. Also easy to get to train/bus station-one direct water bus. Perfect location for exploring Venice, very close to San Marco and the buzzing waterfront but still had charm and peacefulness of the more hidden areas on its doorstep. Breakfast was good, served at sister hotel next door on the waterfront which was vey pleasant in the morning sun. Rooms were fine, and we managed to locate two little sun terraces one with a swing seat which were great to relax in after a busy day on your feet. Very helpful manger and friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone for first time in Venice and will definitely return. The air con took a little bit of time to kick in but other than that no complaints!

Location was fantastic. Close proximity to St Mark's Square and water taxi stops (however it is 1h 15 mins by water taxi to the airport). The room had lovely decor and felt elegant. I was very impressed with the breakfast. A lot of options which I hadn't encountered before in Italian hotels. There were a few let downs, however they did not affect the overall enjoyment of our stay: - broken thermostat, so we couldn't control the temperature in the room - really uncomfortable pillows (perhaps we were unlucky) - noisy in that movements in the level above were heard easily

We had bookaed at Hotel Igea, and on arrival upgraded us to their 4 star sister hotel next door, same rate, and much better value. The staff were very attentive, gave good advice, and on early checkout offered us a breakfast takeaway pack, and hot coffees to see us on our way. Hotel so central with airport laguena line ferry stop right outside the hotel at San Zaccharia Two offers for personalised trips to Murano glassworks which would end up obliging one to buy stuff.

It was conveniently located. The breakfast was great at an adjoining hotel. The bathroom had hot, hard water but was, of course, small compared to us hotels.

Excellent location without being noisy. There was a small elevator which helped. Our room looked at the square but we would have preferred a room at the back as these were bigger. The breakfast buffet was very good. The room was extremely small for two people and the bathroom minute. The shower was painfully small.

Second time at this hotel. Ideally situated close to S Mark square and Grand canal with batobus stop 50 metres from hotel. Perfect base for exploring Venice. Like most things in Venice: Expensive!

It was lovely and I was treated like a princess. The room was so beautiful and I slept well. Breakfast was exceptional, and the staff at the desk was also exceptional. I found, however, the staff in the breakfast room no quite as friendly, but otherwise my stay was absolutely delightful and I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place. Right on the Grand Canal, but not in a particularly crowded location. All sites that I wished to visit were easily accessible by foot or vaporetto.

I loved this hotel. Having travelled Italy for a month and stayed in 9 other hotels/guesthouses, this was my favourite. The staff were very friendly and professional, breakfast was excellent and the location couldn't have been better. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Venice.

Staff was very welcoming and helpful, room was very nice and homey, and the location couldn't have been better in my opinion. The people working in the restaurant weren't very nice, especially the old lady. Breakfast was also very dissapointing, I had to stick to bread and butter.

Its location - it is out of the main centre but right next to the main water transport pick up point. We stayed at a room at the 'back Hotel', not facing the canals, and it was quite - when you walk out of this back Hotel, you just to turn right into a little square with a small church from your lobby and walk about 15 meters right into the main hotel lobby for breakfast. Enjoyed the breakfasts - bacon, eggs toast, sweet things, fruits, yogurts and juices. Aircon did not work the first night and humidity is high in Venecia but they fixed it immediatly the next morning.
