Villa La Cappella

Set on the historic Aliano hill and surrounded by a 7000 m2 park filled with ancient cypress trees, this charming family-run hotel dates back to the 12th century.

The hotel is reached by taking a panoramic country road, Via Lucardese, known as ‘The Wine Road’, which meanders amongst hills and vineyards from Montespertoli and brings you to the medieval towns of Certaldo and San Gimignano.

The Tinalli family purchased the property in 1988 and has been renovating the buildings and grounds with great care and passion ever since. Their dedication can be seen in the authentic elegance of the hotel’s furnishings and in the choice of colors and materials that distinguish its interior and exterior decor.

Spend long afternoons lazing by the outdoor swimming pool whilst the children play in the adjacent pool, or strolling in the beautiful park before retiring to your fully-equipped room to enjoy the charming views.

The hall features an antique central fireplace, a quiet reading area and a piano bar, with local wine tasting and sales.

The hall leads to the dining area on the terrace, with a spectacular view over the park and Chianti countryside.

An elevator to the first and second floors brings you to the en-suites in the Villa La Cappella.

The hotel benefits from a large outdoor pool (50 by 24 feet). It is surrounded by patios with panoramic views, ideal for sunbathing. Children have a separate pool, only 2 feet in depth. The pools are open from the beginning of May until the middle of October.

In the hotel’s beautiful park you will also find a children's playground, with ping-pong facilities.

La Chapel, the former church next to the villa, houses 3 of the hotel’s double rooms.

Food & beverage

Half board can be booked for EUR 25 per person for a minimum stay of 3 nights.

Lunch is available on request. Dinner is served at 19.30, 3 times a week: Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Reservations for dinner must be no later than the morning of the same day. On the remaining days of the week dinner is available on request.

A four-course candlelit dinner on the terrace is also available, on request and upon reservation – costs vary.

Room information

The 3 double rooms, each with private bathroom, are located on the ground floor. The spacious and romantically-furnished suites are situated on the first and second floor of the villa. These offer stunning, panoramic views over the rolling Tuscan hills to Aliano Castle.

Travel information

By Car:
From the north:
- Take the A1 Bologna to Florence and exit at Firenze Scandicci.
- Take the S.C.G. FI-PI-LI motorway to Livorno Pisa and exit at La Ginestra-Montespertoli.
- Follow the road to Montespertoliand.
- Just before the town, turn left towards Lucardo-Siena.
- Keep left, without entering the town, passing the town itself.
- After approximately 2 km, the road goes through a large cypress park; follow the curve and on your left-hand side you will see the hotel gate.

From the south:
- Take the A1 Rome to Florence and exit at Firenze Certosa.
- Take the free motorway to Siena and exit at San Casciano-Montespertoli.
- Once you reach the town of San Casciano, you will see signs to Certaldo-San Pancrazio on your right.
- After San Pancrazio, follow the road to Certaldo.
- Keep left as you go downhill, passing through Fornacette (do not follow the first sign to Montespertoli).
- When you reach the bottom of the hill, you will find the second sign for Montespertoli on your right.
- Take it and after 2 km you will find the hotel on your right-hand side.

By plane:
From Pisa airport:
- Take the S.G.C. FI-PI-LI to Florence and exit at La Ginestra-Montespertoli.
- Follow the road to Montespertoliand.
- Just before the town, turn left towards Lucardo-Siena.
