Facing one of the most beautiful valleys crossed by the Arno River towards the Tirrhenian Sea, only 15 km from Florence, the hotel is located on the eastern part of the Artimino hill.

A small hotel, recently completed, strictly built in Tuscan style. The hotel, run by an Italian-Swedish couple, offers a familiar and friendly atmosphere that guarantees our clients a careful, personalized service.

New this year: dinner with a view, served on our panoramic terrace.

Hotel information

The hotel is located between Signa and Artimino, on the top of one of the so characteristic, Tuscan hills facing the Arno valley. From the hotel, from almost all our rooms and especially from our big roof terrace crowning the hotel, one has a breathtaking view of the valley. Our reception, breakfast room and bar are located on the top, where huge windows facing in all directions welcome in the morning sun when it rises above the hills and they give our guests the possibility to see the entire valley underneath, the surrounding hills with cypresses and pines, Poggio alla Malva with its white and yellow houses gathered close together and the bell tower of the Santo Stefano church.
Local wine, grappa, Vin Santo and home made marmellade (made by "Il Portico", Poggio alla Malva) are on sale at our front desk.

The Arno river is slowly floating through the valley underneath, finding its way towards the Tirrhenian Sea.
The hotel has just recently been completed, trying to maintain traditional, Florentine colours and material, such as stone for doorsteps and stairs and chestnut beams for the ceiling.

Brand new, efficient and silent air condition system, designed by Giugiaro.

Our bar/breakfast room has recently been equipped with a widescreen TV LCD HD.

Mountain bikes for rent.

The hotel disposes of a beautiful apartment (approx. 65mq) for 4-5 persons too, complete with combined living room/kitchen, a big bedroom, bathroom with bathtub and with the possibility to sit outside. Weekly rental Sunday/Sunday. End cleaning to be paid on spot. See more information under "Apartment 4 pax".

Room information

Our rooms are idealistic family rooms as they are all very spacious, and some are adjoining.
Paintings of Florence and the Tuscan countryside, made by contemporary artists such as Pazzini, Cappelli and Marsili, are decorating our rooms. Charming, old Florentine bedside tables, a chest of drawers with a beautiful mirror, old Tuscan wardrobes and much more are making our rooms unique and genuine.
Comfortable chairs and tables in front of each room, give all our guests the possibility to sit outside to read or just to enjoy the sun.

Area information

The small, medieval village of Poggio alla Malva, to whom we have dedicated the name of our hotel "Villa La Malva", has beautiful surroundings, such as vineyards, olive groves and woods of pines and cypresses. Small roads that wind along the Arno river and then continue up the hills, invite to take long walks or to go for a ride in bicycle. From the hill behind the hotel, one can admire the magnificent dome of the cathedral made by Brunelleschi, located in the close by Florence.
The Villa La Malva offers its clients the unique possibility to enjoy all that the Tuscan countryside offers, away from the chaos in the town centre, and yet easily reach, just in a few minutes by car or train, some of the most beautiful cities in Italy, Florence but also Pisa, Lucca, Siena etc.

The view is spectacular.Whilst in Italy, I sprained my foot, and the staff were wonderful in looking after me, making sure I had enough ice etc. Couldn't say enough good things about the place.

We had an enjoyably couple of nights. The host was very pleasant. Had some trouble finding the place. Also didn't find the local train station and ended up at the next stop, which had infrequent trains in Florence. Accommodation was relaxing and friendly. We ended up requesting a dinner as we couldn't find anyone open on a Monday and they obliged with a very tastie meal - much appreciated.

The owner was very accommodating and friendly. It was a very peaceful and relaxing environment.

Unfortunately the website booking.com did not clarify travel necessitated having your own vehicle, as there is no public transport or taxi's from the town.

Large room with balcony, beautifully furnished, lovely bathroom. Owner and staff very hospitable and helpful.

We had imagined that the hotel would be in a more rural area and that the local town of Signa small and picturesque, on the other hand it was very convenient for getting the train to Florence. There was a bit of building work still going on around the grounds but not serious, just needs finishing off.

The hotel is calm, it is located in a very interesting place. Near to Florence, hovewer due to the curly roads it takes 30 minutes to drive in.

The view from the hotel is amazing. The owners were very nice and let us check in early. This is definately a place to stay if you have a car. We drove 8 minutes down the road to the train stop and then traveled by train into Florence each day. It was only 3 stops away from Florence We received very helpful maps and information from our hostess about the train schedule and free parking

It sits on a lovely hill so parking in the drive was steep but a good driver would have no problems but the view, staff and hotel make it a must stay

Staff were friendly, helpful (gave good local information), gave us gate keys for easy access at any time. View across the valley was pleasantly rural. Easy access to Florence (via train from Signa) and other sites of interest. We really liked the breakfasts, fresh fruit, freshly baked local bread & pastries, Italian meats and cheeses, and plenty of fresh coffee.
