If you are walking the Cinque Terre, then Levanto is the ideal location. You get the train travel at a reduced price as you are just inside the region, the trains are quite regular and quick. Its handy if you want to go further up the coast to Portofino or down the coast to Pisa and beyond.
Its a proper town, so has all the things you need (supermarket, pharmacies etc) unlike the actual Cinque Terre towns which are crowed with day tourists and mostly cater to their needs.
We had a great stay here, lots of choice in restaurants would be more than happy to return if we had the time.

We chose Levanto because we wanted lodging to be in a relatively flat area but as close to the Cinque Terre cities as possible. The town itself is charming with lots of restaurant options. The people we met were friendly and helpful. Given the 5 cities of Cinque Terre, we allowed ourselves 5 nights and 4 full days - probably a day or 2 too long. It was easy to use the hop-on, hop-off boat and get a great view of the cities from the water. Travel to those cities by train was easy but crowded in mid September.

A beautiful walkable city with a beautiful beach and easy access to sunset boat tours and Cinque Terre via train. I recommend Wine at Cantina Dei 1000, sunset boat tour with Costa di Faraggiana, and dinner at Le Due Lune.
One word: Chiara! She was the best concierge I have ever dealt with in my 50+ years. She took the time to explain things we didn't even think of! She got us beach and dinner reservations but also pointed us to off the beaten path experiences. She upgraded us to a suite for no reason, which simply gave us more space to enjoy our trip! Excellent breakfast in a lovely dining room! Levanto is very walkable and has much to see and do. We parked the car and left it for three days and walked everywhere and took the train to Cinque Terre.
The room was very clean, and it has a lot of space for two people. As seen in the pictures, the WC is close to the room, but it shouldn’t be a problem flor solo-travellers and long time couples. For shy people, it offers a great oppportunity for brief walks to discover the beauties of Levanto ;) The amenities were great, the room has a mini bar and even though it is paid, it’s a life saviour when you want a drink in the midnight. Daría was very welcoming, we had a lovely stay. Prices were good.
Excellent apartment. I have travel a lot around the world and stay in hotels and apartments. This is one of the best apartments I have stayed in. Excellent location in the heart of the town, modern yet quaint, clean, good facilities, spacious, good air conditioning , excellent shower and comfortable. The host is very nice and helpful also! I guarantee you will not be disappointed when you book this apartment. I wish there were more apartments like this in Italy. It actually feels like Italy!
I can say we got the best breakfast here during our 2 weeks stay in Italy. You can have several options to pick typical a breakfast other than sweet croissant and cookies. The hosts was very friendly and helpful. You get also a parking permission to park in the downtown (free). And we also got a detailed description with a map what to see and how to get there. So we can recommend this place :)
The Hotel Palace was a hidden gem. It reminded me of Hotel Portofino from the PBS Masterpiece Theatre TV series. Great location, charming, extremely helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable bed, quiet, clean rooms. We loved the garden surrounding the hotel and spent lots of time there rewinding from a busy day at the beach or first thing in the morning. Hairdryers in every room!
This boutique hotel is gorgeous. Close to everything but quiet, very roomy and comfortable, great views, tea , coffee and snacks. Great restaurant recommendations. Levanto is the perfect base for Cinque Terre. 5 minutes by train to Monterosso and you can come back to have a break from the crowds at Cinque Terre.
Lots of shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.
Location is extremely close to the Levanto train station (about 2 mins walk) - very convenient especially when going in and out to the cinque terre villages. A brisk 7 minutes walk to the town centre and 10 minutes walk to the beach.
Host was nice and communicative, he let me checked out a little later than 10 AM while waiting for the train.
Huge fridge.
This is a beautiful hotel in the hills of Levanto outside Cinque Terra. Our room had a sitting area outside, a with a breathtaking view. Gorgeous grounds. I loved opening the windows and listening to the birds sing. It was clean and comfortable with a big breakfast spread every day. Plenty of free parking.
Wonderful stay! Hotel is about 10min away from Levanto train station and located very quiet and peaceful surroundings.
If you are plan to travel by car, I highly reccomend this hotel to look around Cinque Terre.
And the restaurant in the hotel is amazing! you must have a dinner there.
What a lovely hotel and a great basis to visit the cinque terre as well as the beach and have dinner in Levanto. The people were very friendly, our room was really nice. We would have loved to have the possibility for dinner at the hotel because the view from the terrace is great.
Amazing authentic place, good terrasse and a village feel like you stayed in the wild forest. The house is well equipped and is a really excellent place for those who want to experience a proper Italy. If you like to cook, there is everything for that + bbq patio.
Fabulous apartment in a lovely local street in Levanto. Had everything I needed; fridge, stove, fan and wonderful views over local houses and the beautiful mountains. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. A perfect base for exploring cinque Terre.
The people are what make this hotel special. They are welcoming, kind, attentive and warm.
The hotel is an ideal gateway to Cinque Terre. Levanto itself is a lovely town, with a long beach and numerous restaurants.
The hotel is extremely clean.
This was my favorite property during our stay in Italy! Mateo and the staff went above and beyond to make everything perfect! The views were amazing, the breakfast and dinner were great and the rooms were cold and comfortable! Love this place!
Beautiful setting far enough from the crowds at Cinque Terre. We loved that it was a small, quiet property just a few minutes by car to the town of Levanto. Comfortable room with terrace with modern amenities. Bathroom was spacious.
Lovely location, raised above the cozy city of Levanto. Bernado was a great host, giving great recommendations for local restaurants and serving breakfast on the sunny terrace the next morning. Best view over the harbor 😍
Good location central to the train station (5 mins walk) easy to set off to cinque terre. Locked private parking outside building (€10). Host Andrea was very helpful and communicated well, good recommendations.
Loved the feeling of living in a home while in Italy. Our host was lovely and offered us a bike each to get around.
There is also a washing machine and good clotheslines.
We enjoyed dining outside.
Rafaela was a perfect host. We had a couple of requests and there was nothing where she immediately helped us with. The breakfast was exceptional especially for Italy.
