A bit old, maintenance to low Price quality food restaurant to low
Unique wallpaper! Huge wooden ceilings
WiFi not included and expensive if you have three devices!
quiet clean authentic friendly perfect when traveling with a car
Excellent staff Wonderful junior suite Beautiful common rooms Great breakfasts Good pool and plenty of beds Attractive gardens
Unimaginative dinner menu (but great staff!)
Our second visit. Great location a few minutes drive from Lucca. Beautiful Tuscan villa with a large pool and an excellent restaurant. We love it!
Take care driving in and out- on the main Pisa road!
We love the English style gardens n wisteria vines walls, friendly & accomodating staff, beautiful frescoes in our 2 large rooms and good English big breakfast with bread, bacon, eggs & ham!
It's not walking distance to any town or shops so you must have a car.
The setting of the villa was superb and very beautiful. Easy access to the centre of Lucca within a few minutes drive. Amazing garden and lovely furniture. Rooms very comfortable and beautifully decorated.
Nothing I didn't like.
- Stunning hotel and gardens - good sized pool - great selection for breakfast - loved the decor, you either get it or you don't! - reception and pool staff lovely and helpful
- Evening restaurant outside felt a little stuffy and uninviting, also an indoor option would be good as the mosquitoes and the cold aren't great - room service staff and restaurant waiters a bit rude and unfriendly - room service and restaurant very overpriced for what you got
The gardens and the swimming pool, as well as a very conmplete breakfast (for Italian standards)
The wear and tear on the room furniture and the common halls. It has not been refurbushed and thouroughly cleaned in decades! The rooms are not acustically insulated. You can hear the neighbour cough like it were next to you... (let alone more intimate business...) The doors of the rooms do not lock well. the doors feel like cardboard. Last, mosquitos are everywhere... need for a serious disinfestation!
The location within half an hour of Pisa airport makes it a good stepping off point. The fantastic main reception hall. A great way to start the holiday
Food was a bit expensive, nice but expensive, room was excellent apart from the mural on the wall.
Over priced rubbish food eat out!!! Pool far to shallow all over
The reception staff welcomed us warmly, quickly got to know us and gave us consistently good advice (the trip to nearby hill town Monte-carlo was a gem). The pool is clean and inviting with a lifeguard who serves drinks, provides towels and scoops stray leaves from the water. Lunch in the shady garden is a treat. Inside the Villa the ceilings are high, so even in August the building is cool. We drove into Lucca (parking at Carducci) most evenings and enjoyed a stroll and dinner. We will return to the Villa.
It is hard to think of any downsides. One minor point: like many older buildings, the plumbing from the next bedroom could be heard through the walls. But hey ho, nowhere is perfect.
location was excellent, close to Lucca but very quite. The staff was very helpful, very good tips for restaurants and things to do.
The isolation in the rooms wasn't that great, neighbours, bathrooms from up or next door you heard very much
Friendly and helpful staff Excellent food
Nothing to dislike
It was conveniently located between Lucca and Pisa. It was an elegant building and had a good pool. The breakfast was quite good
They tried to fob me off with a room on the 4th floor with miserable little high window -felt like the servants quarters. They moved me to a perfectly adequate room, but I should not have had to complain at the price I was paying. There was a lack of warmth between the staff which suggested questionable management. The restaurant was closed on the second night I was there (Tuesday) - the only snack they could provide for me (a piece of processed ham and cheese toasted in packaged bread - not exactly Italian cuisine) compared unfavourably with Easyjet's fare. And there are no facilities for making coffee in the rooms. Although it did not affect me, it is not suitable for disabled visitors.
More or less everything. A very stately, elegant and quiet hotel with excellent facilities and a superb staff - friendly, welcoming and courteous. The decor was superb, the rooms spacious, the showers fabulous, the public rooms capacious and cool.
There was nothing wrong with the hotel. It suffered from being on the main road from Lucca to Pisa, so traffic could be heard. The cuisine was competent rather than outstanding, but great care was taken to ensure that my coeliac friend was catered for.
Wonderful old house
The staff was very helpful , the breakfast was good and was served in a very nice green location.
Some renovation would give a plus to this charming place.
lovely location, nice staff.
evening meal was disappointing
Tranquil surroundings and relaxing gardens. Beautiful food. Fascinating building with period features.
Very nice hotel which was well presented, the staff helpful, the facilities fine, the grounds great. Fine for car travellers.
Interior deco, very cosy, romantic setting, beautiful qiete garden, very friendly service
An amazing hotel full of wonderful charm and authenticity, exactly what we wanted. Every single member of staff were helpful and efficient, we loved it and would absolutley go again. I hope they will continue to keep the same ambience whilst maintaining that wonderful building in all her glory.
As a techno freak I was at first surprised to see the wifi not free, however in a way I can understand why as I didnt actually bother paying I didnt turn my phone on (or the other gadets I had) - it was lovely to have some peace for a change and made you appreciate where you were.
Beautiful old villa, the common rooms were wonderful. Excellent pool area
Rooms were dated and bathroom tiles were all cracked, in need of update
