The room was huge and the bathroom very large. The bed was the best we had on the trip. Also the breakfast was the best we have ever experienced in Italy.

The bathroom was a bit dated, but everything worked well. Our biggest problem was finding the place. The map provided by Booking.com was not very good and the street signs were terrible.

A characterful quirky property close to the charming town of Lucca. We had enormous suite that felt very luxurious but still cosy. Staff were very helpful and attentive, would definately go back when we next revisit Lucca

only downside (and not the hotels fault) was loud hotel residents in the garden area drinking into early hours beneath our window...still live and let live...they were having fun!

I loved the gardens and the views and being able to have such a tranquil setting near to Lucca was a plus. The breakfast was lovely and being able sit outside on the terrace was a wonderful way to start the day. The hotel restaurant was closed on Tuesday which turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we discovered the next night when we ate in to enjoy the hotel as much as possible. Fortunately my birthday was not spoiled as the hotel reception recommended La Cecca which provided us with a delicious meal. I would certainly stay at La Principessa again - but never eat anything in the restaurant except breakfast!

I was very disappointed with the dinner in the evening. I would certainly never eat in the hotel restaurant again and would always choose to eat out. The food in the restaurant is simply not up to the standard one would expect of a hotel of this calibre. I was so glad the restaurant was closed on Tuesdays and that my birthday celebration wasn't spoilt by eating there! It was quite frankly shocking! Pork in milk sauce was just that urgh, the pork was like slices you'd buy from a deli heated up with a milky substance over it! The rosemary potatoes looked as if they'd been re-heated etc etc. Altogether ghastly

The size and comfort of the rooms was very good. The park-like grounds were very relaxing and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful

It was difficult to find the hotel and the traffic conditions were not good

Grand mansion full of antiques. Beautiful. Spacious room. Staff wonderful and extremely helpful. Great location in the quiet countryside but just minutes from Lucca and easy access to Pisa, Cinque Terre, Florence, Siena, etc.

Onsite car parking. This large country house has spacious rooms. Very good hot and cold breakfeast. The staff were excellent and very attentive.

Rooms in desperate need of a facelift. The bathrooms were particulaly bad and out of date.

Incredible! Wonderful place and such delightful people running it. They couldn't have been more helpful and charming! Breakast - enormous variety and good quality. Would love to go back again, especially in summer!

We have stayed at this hotel before and everything was excellent - both then and now: staff, decor, comfort, size of room, quiet. This time we ate dinner in the restaurant. It was some of the best food we had in Tuscany!

The staff were very polite and helpful. Decent room for the size with beautiful view of the gardens and countryside. Wide selection of breakfast. Only 10 minutes from the centre of Lucca.

All the staff were amazing and the food was so wonderful. The breakfasts have such a wonderful selection and they have a large selection of Gluten Free choices as well. We would deflinitly stay there again. It was close to the town of Lucca and a very short drive to some spectacular places, like Pisa, Sienna, Lavorno. A wonderful home base to do day trips from. The restaurant's dinner menu selection was also wonderful!

The hotel is incredibly beautiful! Wonderfully restored and elegant surrounded by spacious gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff. This is one of the best places we have stayed in our international travels over 30 years.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike. Nothing!

The scenary around the hotel was magnificent, the pool and garden area was very nice too. The room was very spacious and very nicely decorated.

The historic building in a stunningly beautiful park, ten minutes drive from Lucca, beautiful high ceiling room, fast free wifi,generous breakfast, helpful staff. We couldnt Ask for more. We got the room for almost half price through booking.com, so for us, it was a great deal. I would hesitate recommending it as enthousiasticly at their normal rates.

The Villa is magnificent and the staff as friendly and obliging as could be. They went to extreme lengths to accommodate our rather difficult party. The grounds and reception rooms are lovely, and as the restaurant was closed, we were directed to a nearby place (La Cecca) which as about as good as eating gets, and most reasonable into the bargain. Breakfast (included) is very good.

Rooms were rather smaller than I would have expected in a 4 star, and the Wifi should definitely be free, as it is much less expensive establishments.

tranquillity,surroundings,ambiance,your in the country with no noise of the city,roads or highway but....within 5 min. from lucca and highway to pisa and touristic roadtrips.absolutely to recommend friends and family.and we will sure be back. beds are good but missed duvet cover.instead a woolen blanket which is not enough to keep you warm. bathroom is very comfertable with all the extra's. pool is very well equipped with lounge chairs and parasols.good that there is a pool-boy.nice long pool to swim in. parking very well lit at night.

i think the dinner/breakfast room could be more in style with the rest of the oldfashioned way of decorating.more country/castle style like the sitting area and the bedrooms.it is rather colorless compare to the rest of the hotel.flower arrangements and color on the wall, or old style paintings. while we had breakfast which was still within the time frame mentioned in your hotel book, they started to clean up already, before 10.30 !! that is disturbing and noisy and unpleasant to enjoy your buffet. the music was/is a constant jazzy tone all day.i would suggest,in the morning light chamber music to wake up by to enjoy your wonderful buffet and in the evening classical music/barok etc. in the background to enjoy your dinner and later while enjoying a glass of wine or cup of coffee/tea in the sitting area. we missed english spoken tv channels like bbc, and european sport channels for non italian speaking guests.

The building and setting are magnificent , the staff helpful and friendly . The location close to Lucca and within easy reach of Lucca train station for travel to many local superb destinations was exemplary . Breakfast on the terrace in the morning sunlight was marvellous with out doubt one of the best places to stay in the area.

It is impossible to walk to restaurants in the vening but taxis arrive promptly .

Beautiful hotel, wonderful and helpful staff and fantastic breakfAst!! Convenient to both Lucca and Pisa!! Only problem was that our gps couldn't find it. It took us a half mile down the road and a local finally helped us. Would stay there again!!

Just had trouble finding it but other than that it was quite wonderful !

We enjoyed the location outside of the city of Lucca and the beautifully well kept grounds. The service was also very good as was the food, especially the breakfast buffet.

The staff did not appear to be very understanding that having dinner outside in the back garden with the"bugs eating you alive" was unacceptable. They refused to move us inside where we had previously enjoyed drinks and a wonderful cheese tray prior to dinner. When we asked who we could speak to about re-arraging the dinner to inside we were abruptly told"The compnay does not allow this". Strange since we just were there prior to dinner. The best they could do was move dinner to our room, which was not what we wanted!!
