Villa Poggio Ai Merli

Good location. Close to Florence and highway, but far from noise and roads. Beautifull views and surroundings with lush vegetation.

No heating and we were there at the and on October, rainy weather, 10c temperatures. Nice old furniture and so on, but cheap bed. Actually it wasn't even a bed, just a steel frame with a mattress. One of the bed lamps was not working when we came. We reported it right away, but they didn't fix during our 6 day stay. Out of three pictures for a room on Booking.com website, two are of the different room than the one they gave us. Different bedroom, different bathroom. Our bathroom had no shower booth, only some cheap plastic curtain. Terrible experience for +130€/night accommodation. Also, the breakfast - not a single day with fresh bread. They only serve hard toast and little croissants - the ones You buy in a supermarket in a plastic bag, not fresh. I can recommend this accommodation to anyone. Its a shame, because the setting is really beautiful. It is located on a hill with great views, but accommodation is very poor. I've been coming to Italy for almost 30 years and this is the worst stay I ever had. Of course, we complained about the room right away, but basically were told they they charged us in advance through Booking website and if we don't like it we can go, but no refund. After checking in, for the remaining 6 days of our stay the owners (brother and sister) never asked us what we think about the stay and if they can improve it somehow. Bad memories!

We had a very comfortable, happy time at Poggio Ai Merli. We were there early in September and it was very quiet, which suited us perfectly after a busy week in Venice and Florence. Our accommodation was perfect for our family - 3 adult boys with their parents. We had huge, spacious rooms - breadkfast was brought up to the room so we could eat privately and talk in a relaxed way. the swimming pool was wonderful - we spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool, just what we needed. We were well looked after by Varena and the team and were advised where to eat and what sightseeing to do around Scandicci. The only drawback is that the Tram is a good 4 km walk away, so we were reliant on taxis most of the time. We would definitely stay here again. Somewhere to recommend if you are looking for a total break, peace and quiet.

Superb location, warm & friendly owners & staff, excellent outdoor pool (it was an abnormally hot 38°c when we were there!), nicely equipped, air-conditioned rooms. Car pretty much essential if you are to get to see Florence, I'd also recommend an up-to-date SatNav - the centre of Florence is a huge one-way mess, so you'll need the help. It cost £45 to update our portable TomTom map and it was the best £45 I've ever spent... :)

The breakfast, which is brought to your room on demand (just pick up the phone and they bring it up inside 10mins), is a **bit** limited - coffee/tea/hot chocolate with croissant/cake/bread, fruit juice, some cooked meat/cheese spread - *but* you have a fridge and a gas hob (at least we did in our family room) to store/cook anything else that you might fancy.

We stayed at Villa Poggio recently with 12 family members. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. They were able to give us excellent advice on local restaurants and were more than willing to answer the endless questions we seemed to have. The location was perfect for our daily trips into Florence and we were able to relax by the pool or sit by the olive orchard after a long day of sight seeing. The rooms were clean and elegant and fit our family very well. We would definitely return to the villa if we visit Florence again.

We stayed at Villa Poggio Ai Merli with our 3 young children. Parents and children all had a wonderful time. The location of the Villa is very strategic -- on one hand, you are in the beautiful Tuscan hills with picture postcard views; on the other hand, you are less than 30 minutes to the center of Florence. We preferred to get to Florence using the convenient tram from Scandicci. We stayed in the 'Michaelangelo apartment' -- the apartment, grounds and pool were all beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and full of charm. The apartment was very comfortable and functional, we even used the kitchen to cook several meals. But the best part were the friendly and welcoming hosts, Verena and Walter, who were so helpful in so many ways. I must have stopped by Verena's office several times almost every day of our stay, and she (or others) were always available with a smile to offer travel advice and recommendations, help us book restaurant or museum reservations, print out directions etc. They made us feel like guests in their home rather than simply customers.

The room was very large with separate bedroom for the kids, great for a family. The pool was excellent and the views of the countryside were breathtaking. The staff, particularly, Walter, was fantastic, he really wanted to make sure had a good time and gave plenty of tips on where to go and what to do.

Only comment is the breakfast was a little limited, no cereal, eggs or meats on offer.

Wonderful suite in 15th century rooms impeccably updated. Property in Tuscan hills, olive groves, and a short tram ride from Florence. A great place to stay. Service was caring for our comfort and every need.

Wi fi in room was on and off, wi fi outdoors was fine.

An amazing villa for a large family. The grounds are beautiful and it provided a warm environment. The staff was very accommodating with our arrival all the way through to our departure. They corresponded prior to our arrival with directions and any questions I had. We were treated extremely well and they provided a great plan for visiting downtown Florence. Would highly recommend to close friends and will visit again.

It is a very nice place just outside Firenze in a green and quiet area. It is easy to go by tram into the city centre which saves you a lot of hustle. The facilties are nice, clean and a pleasure to stay in. The views on the city and the garden are wonderful. The Direttore of the Hotel was a very nice blond women from Tirol (not wearing the typical dress but well shaped jeans). Her friend, a friendly powerful Kojak, is a pleasure to speak with as well. Thanks guys, always good to meet nice people! The Direttore will do everything to make you feel good. She really makes and effort.

Nothing, nice place, would go there. Villa Poggio Ai Merli, what else!

Nous avons apprécié la situation géographique, au milieu des oliviers et très proche de Florence. L'appartement très agréable, de style florentin assez traditionnel

Le petit déjeuner trop "industriel" !! malgré qu'il soit servi dans l'appartement/chambre. Le pain frais aurait été apprécié.

Великолепная природа с ароматами цветущих полей с жасмином и садов. Прекрасные виды. Просторные номера. Парковка. Прекрасные старинный дизайн номеров и виллы в целом. Вилла старинная год постройки 1485. Приведения прилагаются ))

La location è stupenda...un soggiorno in totale relax dopo un'intensa giornata di lavoro.

Le camere sono un pò fredde...qualche grado di temperatura in più sarebbe gradito.

Posizione, facilità di spostanenti, camera fantastica!

Tranquillità della campagna , ambiente rilassante. La suite era ben organizzata.

Il divano letto per due ragazzi è forse un po' scomodo.

我在10月当中入住的，房间里只有毯子， 床垫对我来讲有点硬

Понравилось-большая,красивая,ухоженная территория,цветы,оливковые деревья,великолепный вид из окна. Номер-спальня,гостинная,кухня-вполне достойно. Парковка.

Месторасположение. До центра и ближайших ресторанов далековато.Автомобиль обязателен.

mi è stata consegnata la chiave della camera errata, ho dovuto dormire con le porte aperte la doccia era gelida non arrivava acqua calda tutto questo è accaduto verso la mezznotte e ho ritenuto di non disturbare nessuno a quell'ora

Die Lage ist ein Traum, der große Pool bei den Temperaturen im August ist ein absolutes Highlight und der Service von Verena und Walter sehr professionell.

Super rustig gelegen! Geen druk zwembad zoals in zovele hotels. Vlakbij Firenze maar toch heel rustig. Echte aanrader!

Het ontbijt was een echte tegenvaller

Su entorno,su tranquilidad y su ubicación cercana a Florencia. La amabilidad del personal y el desayuno a la habitación un lujo. Sin dudarlo muy recomendable.

Les plus : - une très jolie villa florentine au vert dans les collines au milieu des oliviers avec une vue agréable - une accueil chaleureux - une superbe piscine - des logements très spacieux - un petit déjeuner copieux compris dans le prix de la chambre - le tout pas trop loin du centre (en voiture) de Florence et bien situé si l'on veut faire un tour vers le Chianti, Sienne...etc Etablissement dans un environnement calme et vert qui présente un charme indéniable et un personnel très sympa.

Les moins : - une déco assez désuette ou du moins rustique - le canapé lit peu confortable (remarque pour les familles) - l'absence d'une table de taille suffisante pour déjeuner en terrasse lorsque l'on est plus de 2 - un équipement assez sommaire de la kitchenette - des moustiques et aucun équipement pour en éviter les désagréments - un jardin bien que très joli qui pourrait être un peu mieux entretenu A plus de 200 euros la nuit en haute saison, on peut s'attendre à des prestations d'un niveau supérieur. Compte tenu du charme de l'ensemble, cette dernière remarque ne doit pas vous faire renoncer à choisir cet hôtel dans lequel nous avons passé un moment agréable.
