Historic building Beautiful garden It was a taste of Italy, we wanted to stay in a typical Italian villa and this one certainly had that!
Could not log on to the internet.
It has a nice garden area and a feeling of intimacy.
We had stayed there 6 years before and the condition of the grounds and cleanliness of the room and pool has really declined. It is hard to find.
It is a small castle in a beautiful setting. The staff was very helpful and also met at night the owner he showed me around.
The bathroom is a bit outdated and missed the shampoo and shower gel.
Beautiful house with an old tradition (14th century!), very very nice receptionist and the owner. Spectacular place on the hill surrounding Prato. Nice breakfast. Great hospitality. We had a problem with the car and we could not expect so fantastic and quick help. I will be back there if circumstances allow.
Interiors of rooms need some refurbishment (yet after a while you do not see it any more). WiFi in only one place in the entire house - on the corridor.
This somewhat out of the way in is a real charmer for us. Lovely ground and the fact that it is a producing Vineyard and Olivegrove makes a very nice combination.
Some of the staff should be a bit brusque.Other extremely helpful
I liked everything
We loved the location and the villa it self.
At night it is not convenient to drive back to the hotel, narrow roads without light
Interesting, unique, friendly.......:)
It is a wonderful 15/16th century villa with some amazing interior features with a lovely garden. A building you would love to go and visit but not sure about staying.
We found it very difficult to find. Bathroom is antiquated and shower head needed a good clean, uncomfortable bed, furniture is antique but in very poor condition. Facilities very basic. Swimming pool did not look clean, it had green slime in it. Breakfast basic. It was like staying in a monastic setting aside from the trains going past every 15 minutes all through the night. My husband did not sleep all night, we both heard footsteps at 3.30 am but only 5 or 6 and they sounded like they were in the room. Spooky.
I'm reviewing for my parents who I booked into the Villa Rucellai to fill a 2 day gap in their business agenda. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay - got lost getting there because they hadn't printed the specific directions from the web page, but once there they were charmed by the old boy who runs the place and so happy to be away from the hustle and bustle of any city. Great food was found down the road 1 mile, and they took a train easily into Florence for a day trip, then enjoyed an even better day right there in Prato. They hope to return next year for another visit to this little gem.
EVerything was great - it is old Italy at its finest.
A rare opportunity to stay in a beautiful Italian villa. The grounds and views were stunning. The staff was helpful, friendly, and made excellent recommendations for places to dine and sites to see. Although it was a bit difficult to get to the hotel. -- it was completely worth it to be out of the busy city.
I could only get internet reception from the lobby -- but I really didn't come to this beautiful locale so I could check my e-mail.
the site- the ambiance-the staff- the facility- everything was perfect!!!
The friendliness and helpfulness of everyone. The Villa itself was a fabulous building with so much history.
Amazing honeymoon! Beautifull place, secret garden.
We loved the charm and history of the buildings and grounds, and the freedom to wander about and really enjoy the rooms, especially the loggia where early morning coffee and a late evening wine made our stay so restful. Even more we loved meeting Paolo, and really appreciated Vanessa who was always very cheerful and helpful. Her suggestion to dine at Trattoria della Fontana made our first evening very special.
The location and setting, close to town, but far enough away. Tucked in the hills..beautiful !!
We loved the building. The breakfast was very good. The room was pleasant with a sense of the age of the building
The weather was quite chilly but there was no option to put on heating. Some of the furniture was poor not just old. The bathroom was good but things like the lighting were pat their 'sell by date'
The welcome and help that we received from Paolo and Giovani was exceptional and the Villa was steeped in history. Paolo is a true gentleman and we are fortunate enough to be able to say that at the end of our stay we said goodbye not so much as guests but as friends. We would have no hesitation in returning to this villa again.
Unfortunately the cleanliness of our room could have been better .
- sweet and elegant old villa/mansion - very charming - exclusive location - nice people - very cozy
- house is not in its best shape, but that doesn't matter for purists.
