location the architecture
Nice location away from the city, need a car to go there. At night on our way to the villa we saw three little deers cross the street. Breakfast was the best and owners very friendly.
Wi-fi was connecting and disconecting every 30 sec, dont know reason, bathroom was clean but furniture in the room need cleaning.
The host who was friendly and helpful. The potential to do something shabby chic and fun inside and out based on the theme of nuns!
Having read the previous review, I wonder if I stayed in the same place!? It had a ripped sheet, dirty shower, cobwebs and grime, smelt musty and old fixtures and fittings. The so called views out were blocked by scrub tree growth and the garden looked abandoned. The price of €129/ night is high for what you get - a price that gets a room in a nice hotel in Florence. This is more a very old, private home (convent) in need of modernisation with rooms being rented out, than an official B&B or hotel in the normal sense. Breakfast was a supermarket fair.
Full of old style charm, quiet location and sense of freedom. I also like the place being authentic and no frills. Breakfast was absolute perfect. You can really rest!
Ok, in the XIII century bathrooms were not at its best, but now we have 2014 and maybe this could be improved a bit. Ours was really extremely small.
Very warm welcome and very nice stay at Villa San Clemente XIII. We enjoyed a very good breakfast and the stay in the ancient Villa.
Wonderful location and very friendly owners! Idyllic! Very nice drive up from Firenze.
Charming host, fab "shabby chic" decor, break fast in the chapel!
Grounds could do with tidying a bit.
Staying at Villa San Clemente was certainly one of the most pleasant and enjoyable experiences of all my years of traveling. Along with the breath-taking setting, the beautiful villa, the comfortable room and the tranquil atmosphere, Raphael was the kindest and most hospitable host any traveller could wish for. We arrived in Fiesole on a Sunday without a car (our mistake); tired and hot and Raphael went beyond any call of duty to provide transport, suggesting a wonderful place to eat and much, much more. If you travel to Florence and Fiesole, you should not miss out on experiencing this jewel of a place and its fantastic proprietor. We hope to return soon.
Excellent place to relax after a day of sight seeing. We really liked the privacy and the beautiful architecture and landscaping.
The location The staff
The villa sits at a wonderful location up on a hill and the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The owners are very friendly and helpful with suggestions on where to eat and what to do in the area. We will definitely be back!
We loved the romantic atmosphere of the building and surrounding grounds. Raphael was a charming and helpful host. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom, although a little ancient was perfectly adequate - plenty of hot water. We would certainly recommend San Clemente to anyone looking for peace and beauty in the countryside near Florence. A car is a necessity. We would certainly love to return. Thank you Raphael for having us.
A bit tricky to find as the street numbering is not logical but with Raphael's help (an extra mail after booking) one manages.
Villa Clemente is a lovely gem hidden in the countryside near fiesole. It is a special place- the beautiful old building and antique interior decor give it a unique charm and set it apart from other accommodation in the area. The rooms are finished in period style and breakfast is served in the gorgeous chapel. There is heating in the rooms and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. The shower in the bathroom is a little difficult to use but that is the only thing remotely negative to say about the place- the bathroom itself was so pretty. would recommend it as a gorgeous haven for couples or travellers in the area, for character it can't be beaten!
A renovated villa (former church) with Tuscany style, dated from the XII century. It has it own spirit. Quiet and very atmospheric place. The owner family is very friendly and helpful.
