Other than breakfast, the food was unexceptional and very, very expensive. The Loggia bar has very low seats and tiny tables which make eating there less expensively, rather uncomfortable. The pianist's dominance ( and this goes on until very late at night) impedes conversation and any sense of peace. The pool is quite a walk from the main building up steep uneven steps and the surface was covered with biting insects - a few mosquito coils may help up there! It would also be a real bonus if the shuttle bus offered a service from Florence after 8pm. The footpath to Fiesole was very poorly maintained at the hotel level - well worth the struggle though!
The staff were, without exception, charming, discreet in their attentiveness, efficient and, best of all, good fun! The building, gardens, rooms, service, facilities and peace( in the daytime) were all wonderful. The regular reliable free shuttle bus to and from Florence is essential if the city is why you're there.Breakfasts are superb in every way.
