The 4-star AGA Hotel is in an exclusive area on Catania's seafront, just over 1 mile from the center of the city. This elegant hotel also features terraces with stunning views of the Mediterranean...

Wasn't 4 star quality
We have stayed here two years ago and we loved this "mignon" hotel, with its unique rooms... but ... it seems that something happened since then. Even if the rooms are clean and the staff do their job properly, Villa del Bosco seems to gain an obsolete air. We dined very well at the restaurant inside, which has a very charming and welcoming staff. The location is quiet, but far from any interesting spot.
The common areas and the rooms have outdated and worn carpet, in the elevator you can see unpardonable drawings. The buffet at the breakfast is rather poor for a 4 star hotel: without tomatoes, peppers nor any veggies, ham and dairy products quality was below average.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, superb and meticulously decorated, beautiful patio, delicious breakfast with good quality products and one of the best fresh made cakes I have ever eaten, nice espresso!
Slightly off the down town radius
Excellent restaurant and helpful staff.
Catania driving - all the one way streets to navigate. Generally the lack of discipline by drivers - especially all those scooter ones - for those of us from the UK.
Staff location breakfast
It is a nice hotel, quite ancient. Nice breakfast room and living room next to the reception. Little but lovely pool.
It is an ancient hotel, not so well kept. They surely need refurbishing. They promised us a room for 3 but we got a room for 2 with a sofa (which was reallyyyy uncomfortable). The wifi didn't work the first day (they said they were doing some manteinance) and the next days it did work but very poorly (we couldn't connect from the room and roughly at the reception, the best place to get good signal was in the hall between the rooms) Staff ok, but not particularly caring and helpful. They kick you out of the living room at 12 am, so you don't have a place to stay if you want to be out of the room at night. The restaurant is situated in an underground floor, and it's a bit gloomy. Its services are not suitable for a 4 star hotel.
The staff were superb. The food was superb. The room was perfect.
The hotel was fabulous. A bit old authentic, in my opinion, very cute style. The location is not the best but that's why we were happy with our car. Car is nearly compulsory in Sicily in order to see the best parts of the island. The hotel also offers vouchers to their private beach club - incredible beach!! One of the best I have ever been to. Very comfortable beds, parking is including in the voucher. You save about 10 eur P.P.
I didn't like cushions, they were very small and super uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep normally the first night.
Clean white towels Clean white sheets Hotel cleanliness Very helpful staff
No teaspoons at the breakfast tables
The old part of the Hotel is very Charming with a lot of history. The beach-shuttle was very effective and the beach itselves was amazing. The Hotel is situated in a small city near "DownTown" - a taxi was around 15 Euro and the bus was pretty cheep - but somewhat nasty.
The sidebuilding to the hotel (Black Part) was very very bad - The aircon was not working - you had to step into the Bidè to go into the Shower room - rooms very tiny. All in all - They have to fix all the problems with the aircon for the total hotels - to many days with problems - and with 35 degrees it's terrible. Breakfest was very very plain.
We stayed in August 2014. Very helpful and friendly staff, the old house itself is beautiful. Nice veranda to sit and enjoy life, a small pool to cool off in. Phenomenal view of the ocean and the Etna volcano from the top floor balcony which one can access from the outside. I believe the lobby in the Villa del Bosco is shared with VDBNext which is in a modern hotel facility, and the room decor there is very different from the old style in the main villa. We didn't investigate that part but it looked very hip & cool. The temperature outside was around 35 degrees Celsius at the time and the air conditioning worked absolutely fine in our room.
The location is not great if you want to hop out and catch the crowd, since downtown is quite far if you are walking. I didn't bother us though.
Gave us a room with AC not working (not recent as they had a fan installed in the room) We went to a smaller room and they did not proposed a discount. this was disappointing. I was not the only guest having problems with the hotel organization.....
The hotel was easy to find as it was well sign posted from the main road. Most of the public areas are Iin the old part of the hotel which are lovely. They made our room available early as requested. The old part of town looks lovely to explore it is a bit far from the hotel on foot but a good bus service into town.
We parked our car outside on what seemed like a quiet road after 1st night all 4 of the wheels on our hire car were stolen. The service in the restaurant was slow we ordered wine which did not arrive until after the main course despite waiting some time. The portions are small and for a 3 course meal quite expensive. There didn't seem many other options of places to eat available locally.I found the room we stayed in not to my taste very modern and walking down the completely jet black corridor a bit off putting. I wish we has made the request to be in the old part of the hotel. But for 2 nights it didn't seem worth changing. Also the beach is very very comercialised and not to our taste. It was a 30 minute drive and not recomended.
We spent 7 days in this hotel with no ac it was incredibly hot also breakfast always the same bread and ham and cheese no sausage and bacon nothing at all and a few cakes very poor also pool is very small I think this was a rip off
Service very poor in this country people will be very happy to rip you off eg renting a car in sicily paid 150 for one day a the seller returned after gave the car as he gave it me and told me that I have to pay for a damage that I have not done or shall I say that this is done by wear and tear told to pay for handbrake cable kit that cost 700 euro he tried to rip me off the hotel contact him for me thieves
I really loved the mix between the old and the new part of the hotel. The staff is very nice, especially the barman Giuseppe,he was so kind and friendly and his drinks were fantastic! Its a really good hotel for visiting Catania.
Location, though a little bit out of any central or beach areas, this is an ideal base for those with a car to explore Sicily. Authentication decor in the `traditional` half of the hotel is delightfully aged and helps you immerse yourself in the local culture. Staff are very helpful and could not do enough to help. Aircon plenty cool in 38°c. Daily shuttle to beach takes 20-30mins but it's a great place so well worth it. Well out of town so stuck with the two return trips but never an issue for us. Buffet breakfast is typical continental and was a good start to each day. Would recommend to anyone and will surely return ! Bellisimo!
Pool a bit small but fine for a quick cool down. Restaurant menu limited at times and a little pricey for what it was.
The barman Giuseppe was Perfect! He do his job verry well, is social, verry nice!
The bed in the room was too hard.
waiting 20 minutes for change the plates - servers talk to each other in this time. can't pay after dinner on the table - need to go to reception wi-fi do not work in the room very old decorations and broken plumbing. I asked about 2 non-smoking rooms - and one was with a strong smell of smoking.
The rooms were beautiful we had a connecting room with our son which was perfect separated by a small hall each having separate doors.
I don't think this hotel is suitable for couples and families with older children.
Friendly and serviceminded staff Good breakfast Nice terrace Organized trips to the beach
WIFI connection was poor and unstable in the room.
Amazing and friendly bartender, Giuseppe
Clever photography make this hotel look more luxurious than perhaps it is. Everything in the photos is correct...just a bit smaller, like the pool. Staff were great helping to organise hiking up Etna and dinner reservations outside the hotel but you wont get a drink after 11p.m Clean and friendly.
Bit of a trek on the bus out but its fairly straight forward as the bus stops right outside the hotel so no need to panic on that first trip! Plus bus is cheap €1.
Excellent service from all staff, nice, big and clean rooms. A hotel with a nice character
Wi Fi was free but connection was poor in bedrooms though it was good in common areas
Everything! It was one of our hotel highlights.
The pool and accommodation was great. Breakfast was good.
The apartment is not close to anything. We had to drive to Trapani for restaurants and even shopping.
