Wifi. They have it, but it's so slow, it's almost useless. personally had to use my phone/roaming to achieve what i needed. no 4G up here either but still quicker than the wifi!
An incredible place to stay - we had 8 nights here. It's up in the hills, so it's quiet with wonderful views. The building itself is stunning, the grounds are huge with walks. The swimming pool is good, some say too cold, i say refreshing.
We had dinner a few times and the food was excellent. It's not cheap but about right for what you get - quality. Breakfast is good with a selection of cold cuts, cheese, bread, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, coffee etc. can't go wrong here.
Staff were good, helpful, friendly. We had to leave for a very early flight and they prepared breakfast goody bags for us to take on the journey and coffee at 3.30 am!
It's basically like staying in a HUGE house, so it's not soundproof like a modern hotel, but this is from the 14th Century, so that's to be expected. not a problem.
I would say you really need a car to stay here. The nearest village is walking distance, BUT i wouldn't risk it at night along the narrow winding roads with no lights. There's a train station at S.Ellero, but you need a car to get there. Taxi's are hard to come by in this remote place.
We drove to Firenze many times - it's only about 40 mins away - the scenic route along the river is great. The motorway is nearby too, making this a good location as a base to explore the area. An amazing place perfect for a quiet getaway. Would recommend.
