The views of Tuscany from this villa are breathtaking. The villa has a wonderful ambience, with its stone and timber structure, period furnishings, sitting areas (including a library) and roaring fire. The grounds are very attractive as well, and are especially beautiful when lit up at night. It was serene and relaxing by the pool. Breakfast was very good, with a large selection of delectables. The younger man who greeted us the first evening was very friendly and accommodating, and we enjoyed his greetings during our two days there. We loved this place and stayed another day to walk the area through olive trees and vineyards. This stay was the best of our entire trip in Europe.

We liked a lot about the hotel-the comfort and location in particular. It is set amongst some of the mosr beautiful scenery but remains close to lucca. The staff were very helpful and the pool was excellent with the proviso of the note below. We would certainly use it again. Only small things were noted. The request for a payment of €5 for a pool towel when paying this sort of hotel rate seemed rather petty and took away from the style of the hotel, why not charge an extra € per client and do away with towel charge? We booked rwo superiore rooms and were downgraded into standard rooms with nor apology on arrival. The rooms were very good, but had no view and one was the disabled room- it was correct when we were charged the account was for standard rooms.

Excellent hotel in an old monastery. Fantastic scenery. Close to the cities of Lucca and Pisa, even a daytrip to the Tuscany coastline is easily done. We had a totally relaxing holiday!

A breathtaking view over typical Tuscan landscape with very comfortable rooms of international standards in an old style Italian Farm. The pool is amazingly situtated and the restaurant is an experience to remember for gourmets! Great stay.

The location was excellent Very expensive - cheese sandwich was 8 Euro and the hotel staff could not add up so, unless you challenged, the bill, you could end up paying a lot more for meals & drinks etc

Nice building in a nice location If you had no hire car, this hotel would be useless - it is in the middle of nowhere. That is fine - to a point - but they do not serve any form of lunch. If you have dinner there, the menu is as pretentious as they come, over-priced and of average quality. The thing I disliked most about staying here was the complete disregard the reception staff (one in particular) had for guests. The chap who receieved us when we arrived and who was on duty most mornings hardly said a word or acknowledged that customers were present. Bearing in mind the remote nature of this hotel, guests expect a warm welcome when they arrive and an acknowledgement that they exist when they pick up their room key. This chap did none of this and was permanently welded to his mobile phone. There was often no one at reception so we had to wait for ages to get the key to our room - latterly we just went behind the desk and picked the key up ourselves.

.Staff all very helpful .Amazing scenery with good access to Lucca (a car is a necessity) Good rail links to Pisa and Florence.Would visit again. Sometimes staff not always easily found.Cost of drinks in hotel. The hotel restaurant is not operated by the hotel so you have to pay every time you visit rather than at the end of the stay. Also the menu though excellent is lacking in variety particularly if you stay for a week or more you run out of choices very quickly compared with excellent restaurants nearby and in Lucca.

The location is wonderful, great views into the hills They charge you for everything. WiFI should be free and so should pool towels. They don;t tell you they charge for the towels so look out! I though that they were penny pinching/trying to get extra money out of visitors rather than providing service.

The excellent staff and the beautifully restored site blew our mind. We planned to stay 2 nights but booked an extra 2 on arrival. Beds were perfect, views from our room even better. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The swimmingpool was impressive. When in the water, you overlook the valley with Lucca in the distance. The distance to Lucca is very good. It takes about ten minutes to get there by car. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Will defenitely recommend this hotel!!

Breakfast. And the breakfast staff was nice. Normal staff was okay, and you can't blame the for the wrong policies for the hotel. We booked 'the suite', but it wasn't more than a place that they couldn't use because you needed to go through that space to reach the bedroom. Nice couches, tv, but no desk to work on. We could not lock it. We had to look for the staff to do so. No drinks in not so cold fridge. You had to pay for towels for the very small pool. (More an oversized jacuzzi, but cold.) Small, quite uncomfortable bed, especially for a suite. Small bathroom towels, although the second day they gave us bigger ones when we made a remark about that.
