Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants.
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
The hotel is perfectly located from the Piazza del Popolo. Everything in the historic center of Montalcino is at a short walking distance from the hotel. We arrived by car and the owner personally takes the car to a parking garage nearby. This is very convenient for everyone who arrives by car. Rooms, restaurant and breakfast are lovely! Highly recommend this hotel in Montalcino!
Fabio is an amazing host. His property is absolutely beautiful. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the patio drinking a glass of his 1285 wine. Breakfast was delicious and offered many choices, including Fabio's baked cakes and pastries. This is a great location for those interested in visiting Montalcino and the surrounding areas.
Big apartment with 2 bedrooms and a living room. Nice backyard and nice view over Tuscany. Nice and helpful host. Easy check in and check out. You really need a car since the property is about 8km from Montalcino. Free Parking on site. You can find a couple of good restaurants near the property, but make sure you have reservation.
The hotel is excelent! Great location, near to Castello Banfi. The staff (Vitto and the waitress!) was very polite and helpful, we had few minutes to have something to eat and they made us amazing sandwiches. There is also spa included, very good. The bed was big and confortable and all the building very clean and beautiful.
Beautiful architecture and incredible rooms. The hotel is a cozy paradise in the middle of Toscana. The staff (Karla and Giulia) were incredibly nice and tried to accommodate most of our needs. They let us check in early (around noon), but highly recommend everyone else to try to stick to their 4pm check in time.
Amazing views from hotel. Perfect location central to the village. Like any old, Tuscany village, parking had some challenges, but the staff was AMAZING at figuring it out with us. Truly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Fabulous breakfast also.
We had a very warm welcome. The lady at the reception desk gave us a hand with the luggage and we were also able to store our bikes in a safe place. The breakfast was very good. The room big with a super view. We can only recommend this hotel.
Michele and Sara were incredible hosts. They had just renovated the property in 2018. Shower and room was much larger than what you would normally find in Italy. Sara's home cooking for breakfast was out of this world great.
EXCELLENT hotel! central location in a FABULOUS town. Professional, friendly staff,
good breakfast selections. Beautiful pool and outside gardens. Walking distance to all town attractions, shops & restaurants.
Stunning hotel, exceeded my expectations! An historical castle in the heart of Val d’Orcia with spa and thermal pool. The food is amazing, you can enjoy fresh seafood by the pool, I really appreciated it!
Great location near Montalcino, peaceful surroundings and very friendly service. Truly interesting and informative presentation and tasting of the wines produced at the venue. Warm recommentations!
Old fashioned style of decor and spacious. Good communication with staff who helped us with our bicycles. Windows could be opened, lovely view, quiet and right in the centre of Montalcino.
We enjoyed everything of this hotel. Rooms, location, wine, food, the dog, and specially the staff. If we go back to Tuscany, it will be our choice again. We loved it!
The hotel was very beautiful with excellent staff. They were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and the pool also. We enjoyed our stay here.
