the location and peaceful ambiance
access road is trying
The staff were very good and pleasant the sheer ambience of the place was special . The history attached to Strawberry Hill is interesting , the fact that the hotel has and uses locally sourced products and provides jobs for local people is great, please keep that up . Being there felt magical it is a place for peace, contemplation relaxation, exercise, pampering, fun or just sitting taking in nature . As guests we felt free to explore and do as we pleased although staff were around and very attentive if we needed them .Visiting Strawberry Hill is a must, the cool hill breeze, wonderful spa facilities and local hikes is good for the soul. Some rooms need renovation but all in all a very positive experience.
The drive up was hairy but the locals know the road well Take your time if your driving for the first time up to the hotel
- beautiful views - great staff - good food
The views, decor of the rooms, pool area. It's all very pretty and pleasant but not worth the amount it costs.
The reception staff were useless, no tv in the room, the pool was taken over by daytrippers so you couldn't get a lounger, the excursions are a joke for the price, wifi didn't work in the room, the food was so average and again, overpriced. The whole place just lacks atmosphere or something. This hotel has 5 star prices and is really a 3 star. I would recommend going up there for a day & having lunch, you can use the pool facilities etc & enjoy the views without having to pay the exorbitant accommodation prices. This place was the big disappointment of our trip to Jamaica and compared to other hotels we stayed at on the trip in this price range this was a real step below.
The location and the views
As a retreat the hotel could have offered a little more facilities in order for their guest to relax
A beautiful place, with an amazing view. The Pool and the gardan where very beautiful.
Not many things on the dinner menù, and a little misunderstanding about the intercontinental (free) breakfast
beautiful, relaxing, peaceful, you feel like you're in a different world-stunning views. loved the balcony off the room where i stayed, the staff was very kind and helpful
the room i stayed in-needs to have a touch up (chipped paint/water marks)
The location was incredible and the rooms were divine.
The food wasn't as good as we had hoped. It was very expensive and had a European focus. Coming from Europe, we were hoping for some authentic Caribbean food.
Expensive and given you pay so much for the accommodation you still pay extra for all meals...which given you cant go anywhere else is a bit silly. The breakfast there is also very poor. They dont really accomodate for kids. We were bitterly dissatisfied with the place given the rest of jamaica was fantastic. Disappointing end to the trip.
service, feel/atmosphere, the grounds and views, the excellent food
DON'T BOOK A ROOM there. We stayed there for 2 Days. The hotel is public. 2 groups of Russians arrived there and were mixing between the hotel guests at the swimmingpool - pushing each other to take the best pictures - HORROR . So i would sujest take also a day ticket visit the place have lunch but don't pay the amount of 450$ a day.
Sunrise peace on my veranda, surroundings, dining with views, friendly staff, no TV in room (a welcome relaxation), relaxing library (with TV)
loud music nearby to early hours of the morning, barking dogs under window at four a.m., no TV in room (as advertised on booking.com)
Beautiful location; peace and quiet; fantastic views; good food.
Service was very slow, the food menu was not inspiring. Th bathrooms and kitchens in the villa need upgrading.
The ultimate secluded high grade place to go and the relaxed Jamaican attitude means it is not high handed. The grounds are stunningly beautiful and it has a unique swimming pool, albeit modest in size.
The roads up to the hotel are rough and have alpine-like bends so taxis are a better idea than self drive.
