Xtabi Resort

Well, my opinion is somewhat biased because after dealing with Sunset on the Beach and their owner, EVERYPLACE seemed great, but the staff understood our pain, and went through great lengths to make us feel better. Quiet at night, and good (free) internet, which made for a better trip (this was a working vacation for my wife and I).

Remember to pack your own hair dryer. And this property doesn't have a mini-fridge so you need to factor that into your plans. The food prices are a little high, but we only had one meal on property since we rented a car, Easier to get around and find more local establishments to eat and drink.

I have stayed at Xtabi several times before and it is consistent with quality and service. It is definitely a great deal for the money. It is clean safe and in a good location in the cliffs. They have the friendliest staff and they are very accommodating. The views of the caribbean sea are breathtakenly beautiful from the hotel's cliffs. I find Xtabi to be a great hotel for a solo traveler mainly because it feels so "local". It is not a pretentious hotel environment (tourist trap). It is very laid back and relaxed and no one hurries you. It is also nice to be away from the batering that goes on when you're laying out on the beach.

The superior garden view rooms need to to updated a little more (nicer curtains that actually match the bed spreads).

Staff is outstanding and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Not crowded with tourist bus visits like Rick's Cafe but similar cliff jumping. Caves are awesome. No hustling. The food is great and the breakfasts very reasonable. Dinner is a bit more, but no more than surrounding restaurants.

They have a wonderful location on the cliffs of West End, which is far enough away from the hustlers on 7-mile beach to feel somewhat secluded. Yet they are close enough that you can still enjoy the revelry and beaches if that's your thing. We had a rental car, which helps. Otherwise you'd be paying cab fare back and forth. The caves underneath their restaurant are definitely worth a look, and the food was pretty good too. The rooms were clean and provided lots more space than I've had elsewhere for comparable prices. The staff deserves a special mention - they were great. Everyone I interacted with offered me a warm smile and any advice they could muster when I asked questions. I only wish breakfast were included in the price. I came with a dive buddy, but next time I'd happily bring my girlfriend. The place was incredibly romantic and we met several happy couples who seemed to think the same thing.

Speaking of the food, it was overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but I felt like I was paying the "tourist price" for every bit of what Xtabi has to offer. We had the luxury of a rental car (apparently a rarity among the tourists here), but there were plenty of cheaper options for both rooms and food located only a few minutes further South in the West End. We were told to check out "Just Natural," a vegetarian/seafood place that recently moved a few kilometers South, but used to be right near Xtabi. It was every bit what we were told. We also switched hotels the second night and moved to one nearer our dive shop (Xtabi didn't have a/c and that one did). But I left thinking to myself that it really would be a great place to go with your girl. First of all, no hustlers! She'll feel safer away from that nonsense, I promise. Second, the other guests we met couldn't have seemed happier. It's quiet, but only 5 minutes from the action... Do yourself a favor, rent a car. It's not that scary. If you don't mind paying a little bit more then this place won't disappoint.

Pool could have been better kept. You had to pay for ice and safety deposit box key didn't work. I think all the rooms should come equipped with a kettle and bar fridge, hoever only some of the rooms did

The resort is amazing. It is right at the shore, so you can go down the cliffs into the water (there are also caves through which one can access the water). It is just incredibly beautiful. There is also a nice and clean pool. The security guy was very friendly. We had a fantastic stay, and I would definitely recommend this resort to everyone. It is located very close to the seven miles beach, and in the same street as some very nice bars.

The girl at the reception was somewhat unfriendly and annoying. First night we didn't have hot water; The rest of the days we had a continuous ant problem, and the last day there was a big cockroach in the room, plus that day we had no water at all. There were no tv and fridge in the room. Breakfast was too expensive.

Безумно уютный маленький отель! До пляжа 10 мин на такси, зато для любителей снорклинга - рай! Нырять можно прямо от отеля и попадаешь в рифы! Под рестораном 5 пещер, очень красиво и необычно!

Комары! Сразу просите об работать комнату, шум с дороги , не для тусовок

Excellent location for a cliffside swimming and snorkeling. Evening meals are great, breakfast and lunch are ok. Nice staff, clean room, beautiful garden

No hairdryer, no kettle. Fridge is optional for $5 a day. A bit moody toilet in room 15 (needed a gentle nudge to shut up).

Everything except not staying on the ocean side.

Having to cross the road to get to the estaurant. There are no rules of the road in Jamaica. Very dangerous

The location was great, it was just on the cliffs so that we had a chance to swim every morning in the incredible water.

One of the girls in the reception desk was quite unfriendly. She really didnt want to answer our questions about the activities aroundd. And we had a difficult times with the ants and cockroaches in the room.
