Staff In general were very accomodating. The Chef cooked a very nice pasta! The bar is a nice spot it just need some more entertainment.
Tv only shows 4 channels. The location is not by the Beach, about 10 to15 min drive.Breakfast was not great.Overall good experience.Worth the money value.
Staff was helpful and very friendly, with a personal approach. Rooms were clean, good a/c, nice terrace.
A little bit far away from beaches and bars.
Location is great and this hotel, with some investments, could be upgraded, It is in perfect location to create a once a monthly activity (maybe dance) for the town and for the locals. With a installment of a lift, much improvement possibilities. The staff and the owner are very nice people and very corporate. A hotel with much potential.
The steps to the room is long, if staying on the top floor.
Mangement and staff friendly and courteous.food is great.
Everything - accommodation, food, location and I cannot say enough about the staff, especially 'quiet' Marvin and my 'special' friend Mr Ivy :-) All the staff and Mr Harris made us feel welcome, comfortable and safe. We had beautifully cooked Jamaican breakfasts and a thoroughly enjoyable evening meal - all excellent value for money. The view from the roof top is definitely worth climbing the stairs to see and ask Karla to recommend a driver if you need one - fab day out at Reach Falls, Blue Lagoon & Jerk Centre. The air-conditioning was an absolute bonus especially as it was so hot and wow hot water, powerful shower and oh so comfortable bed. Match is a little oasis, near Port Antonio but with that definite 'country' feel. Would I stay anywhere else? No...because there really isn't any need to!!
I liked everything - my main observation however was the lack of staff in the restaurant or on reception because the 'lovely' ladies were either stationed at one or the other.
Richard the owner is very nice and friendly. It was great meeting him as well as Peter the bartender who gave us a very good lesson on Jamaican rhum and cocktails! Our room was very big with a nice balcony and seaview. Breakfast was good too. Location is perfect as not too close to Port Antonio but not too far (only 100 ja $ to the center by route taxi) Enjoyed our stay very much!
Friendly staff, clean villa, fantastic food and real value for money. We would definitely go back and recommend this hotel to others.
It was on a main road to the town. The side street road was entire rubble. The fastest you could travel is less than 5 km an hour. The hotel is small so you see the same staff everyday which is good. Air conditioner worked well. No issues with parking. No issues with hit water which can happen frequently in Jamaica.
The gentleman that is security was found sleeping as we walked by him each night in the lobby by the front desk. The staff were not too friendly. At breakfast each morning the choice of food was limited. ? Because the hotel was slow? The portion sizes were small. Because I don't tip until the end of my visit I noticed we were ignored once on the first day they didn't get a tip. The bath tub has dirty stickers for non-slip. Room decor out dated but more importantly when we plugged our phone in behind the tv, nit only dust bunnies but ripped open condom packages. Corners of the room dirty and needs a deep cleaning. Most days the sheets were not changed. They were changed twice in 8 days when they were visibly dirty. Again likely because a tip wasn't left daily but rather at the last day. We originally sent an email about if they knew how to get in contact with a marriage officer - no response. Instead offered to arrange a marriage on their property. This isn't what I asked fir. I just wanted to know about if they could provide a local resource or phone number. Nope. Because if all of this we only ate one dinner there. Originally we had plans to eat most of the dinners there. I met Mr. Harris to pay the bill on the first night because they had a brand new debit machine the clerk didn't know how to use yet on the first day. He also congratulated us in the parking lot. I travel to Jamaica four times a year. This hotel is a 2.5 out of 5 by international standards.
Friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably good food.
Cockroaches in room. Poor placement of mirror and toilet in bathroom. Bath was slippery could cause injury as one shower. This was very dangerous actually.
The food was good, the room was comfortable with air condition, the room was up to a high standard compared to some of the hotels I've stayed in Portland. Very good value for money. It felt more than 4 star. Thanks to Carla @ reception, she did an excellent job in making me feel welcome, she has very good customer service skills.
The view from the balcony in room 2 is facing a wall. Pretty poor considering I booked 6 months in advanced.
This place is very quiet for a good nights sleep and b'fast food was of good quality. The staff were very welcoming and polite and very informative. They had an small pool so you could just chill out if you wanted to or to entertain the kids for a while. Nice little place whilst passing through for the day/night.
The Overall experience was Great!!
Words cannot describe the beauty of Jamaica, and Match Resort is in a great location near Dolphin Bay. There is a lovely restaurant on the premises with delicious, fresh food made to order and the management and staff of Match Resort made our stay comfortable and relaxing with no worries. Everything was "irie" and we will definitely be back to visit Match Resort. I have also told my friends, and they are looking forward to planning a future visit to Portland, Jamaica and will stay at the resort.
I didn't like that I had to leave so soon. I wanted to stay longer. However, vacation was over. So, "back to life, back to reality." :)
We would def stay here again. The room was spacious and clean. Customer service was very prompt and helpful. The food was delicious!
Staff were friendly and always ready to help. They would go out of their way to sort any questions or problems you may have. The hotel had a homely feel that made us feel welcome and comfortable.
I feel that they should go out of their way to repair minor problems as these can have an impact as to the presentation of the hotel. example; missing glass panel from bathroom window and water stain on bedroom ceiling.
The "resort" is like a motel 6 feel. I liked the affordability but the facility could use some upgrades....phones in rooms, cleaner towels.. The staff I interacted with was great. (The chef, the young lady that was in the dining room & the front desk, the ladies that cleaned my room)
No elevator and having to go to the 3rd floor with luggage. No phones in the room for service when things needed.
breakfast was very good Bartender made great drinks Staff very frendly and helpful, also management was helpful
ocean view was obscured and the floor i was on it was difficult to see. Ocean view not as close as I thought it would be by advertisement.
The staff at the hotel was quite accommodating. They tried to meet your needs to the best of their ability. They were willing to change my room when I told them that the carpet aggravated my allergies. Also, the food was good.
There are no elevators in the property or any phones in the room. There was only one waitress(Carla) who was wonderful, but because she was the only one, we had to wait for a long time before we were served. The rooms are outdated and the towels in the bathroom were dingy.
I have travelled to portland for 25 years and stayed at many of the hotels around port antonio. Now i have found the hotel for the area. All aspects of our stay was very good. The staff were both friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were great. Great cold beers from the bar. I run a guest guest house myself so i recognise a well run establishment when I see one. Match resort is a well run friendly establishment.
Nothing to dislike.
Close to Port Antonio and a fantastic price. A/C was great and was a nice bed. No frills but did the trick.
I was there for 8 days 7 nights and the place was so peaceful and was very nice! The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful.I am not good with names but the house keepers were great and very attentive! T he food was great, for my first trip to Jamaica I was very impressed!!! Thanks to everyone for everything and if I ever come back I will stay there!!!
Easy check in. No hassle.
Door lock was stiff. There was no hot water in the shower. Sheets were not clean. Television channels were limited and of poor quality.
Basic guesthouse but had everything we wanted. Very helpful staff. Nice food and bar.
Not close to a beach. You need to have a car to get anywhere.
Excellent value for money. Friendly and helpful staff. Five minutes from local town.
Great for those that want peace and quiet. However would have liked some entertainment or music etc to liven it up during the evenings or a weekend!
Great people who would do anything to help such as organise a rooftop party with 1 hours notice....what a great evening & great stay
