Completely welcoming hotel, even after we checked out we were accomodated nicely till we departed for our late night flight
The accommodation was very good quality. We had a fabulous view of the ocean & a safe which we requested. the room was cleaned every day & tea/coffee/towels replenished daily. the food was excellent & available from 7am-1am & all the drinks you could wish for. The pool was clean & safe the island in the sea to wade out to was great. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There were plenty trips to go on & very well organised Dunns river falls swimming with dolphins & it was such an emotional visit to 9 mile Bob's place of birth & his & his mums tomb. What an experience. There was a working hairdryer, fresh beach towels daily which saves on carrying extra weight in your luggage. There was also a free bus to the shops We will definitely be going again.
The wait at check in for another half an hour because the room wasn't ready after such a long journey was disappointing as it said we could check in after 3pm & it was 4.50pm?The safe kept us on the ball we had to call maintenance twice the battery was changed promptly though. We wasn't aware that most places in Jamaica want you to deal in US$ & not Jamaican which we took with us & we felt the rate of exchange in the hotel was too low. I also spoke to several people who had a package less than ours which I will be investigating.
I didn't like the fact that there wasn't any night clubbing activity
Not very much variety. Not very tasty. Not good value for the money.
entertainment, Location Food options
The Chef messing with the National Dish.
-Entainment was great -Shower was nice and hot -Water on beach was nice and warm, sun was blazing hot -The Jerk Hut was amazing, jerk pork was awesome -Great snacks including icecream, nachos, burgers and fish and chips -Kids park was nice to play/daycare -Lots of good channels on the TV -Wifi was fair -Unlimited drinks/alcohol all excellent -Check out was easy
-Took long to check in -We asked for high floors and we received ground floors -No tubs or adjustible shower heads for children, unless you get a family suite -Food at buffet was too canadianized (either tasteless or salty) -Jamaican restaurant was not satifactory (fish soup salty and oxtail tasteless) -Car parking was too far from hotel -Had to ask for towel cards
The entertainment options after 10pm
The late evening and night entertainment was the best!!! The singers, the musicians, the magician and the group "The children of the Drums" was awesome. Overall I had a wonderful time.
I did not like: I did not have a tub and the floor in the bathroom and bedroom stayed wet after a shower from the steam. There was no ventilation in the bathroom. The linen on the bed, esp. the pillows had a sour odor to them.
I loved the cleanliness and comfortability of the rooms. Also the maintenance of the groups. The majority of the staff was friendly and welcoming
That a certain bellboy totally ignored the people of colour, guest, to provide support & assistance for other guest.
The entertainment throughout our 1 week stay kept us occupied. Drinks on tap but not strong enough to get anyone drunk which maybe a good thing for those with families.
On first approach many of the reception staff seem defensive until you establish a report with them. Our first room was not to our standard for a family of four so we had to request another. Thankfully with no extra charge.
They cater for everything and the staff was really helpful and friendly
I was a bit skeptical based on the negative reviews posted and was a click away on a number of occasions from cancelling. However, I finally decided to go with this hotel and experience it first hand. I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in a peaceful, relaxing laid back environment. I had a nice ocean view room in building 5 which was a short stroll from the main building and away from the noise of the night time entertainment. The food from the main buffet offered both Jamaican and international options and there were other huts around the property offering different foods, including burgers, jerk chicken and pork, ice-cream etc. The strawberry banana daiquiris were simply divine and were my daily staple. Try the Jamaican cooking class. The Japanese restaurant was amazing as the chefs cooked the food right in front of you while keeping you entertained. The night life on ground was nothing to shout about but of course, this always depends on the involvement of others. Took the shuttle to Margaritaville on a Friday night ... DO NOT GO TO MARGARITAVILLE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT... the place was absolutely dead. Apparently the place to be on Fridays is Pier 1. Overall, I was happy with the decision to stay at HI and I cant wait to return!
If you take the shuttle to Margaritaville, do not go on a Friday. The place is a dead alley then.
The rooms and facilities were well kept. The staff was friendly and readily available for help. The Jerk Hut was a hit! Overall the food was good. Plenty of options available for activities on the resort.
The Wi-Fi was horrible! Really hard to find a place where it worked effectively. Maybe install more towers.
I loved the little island you can walk out to. The jerk hut had awesome jerk chicken, even though the jerk sauce had varying consistencies day to day, it was still delicious. The buffet was mediocre at best. I never had the chance to try out any of the other restaurants since they book up quickly so make reservations early if you want to try out the restaurants. The water sports would have been great except the water was too choppy when I was there to actually take advantage of the kayaks and catamarans. I also love the nightly live entertainment on the main stage. There are some really talented people there!
It wasn't as exotic as I would have liked. The hallways and even the rooms were quite... sterile looking. The resort is small, one main swimming pool with no swim-up bar and a small gate-enclosed pool (adults only) with swim-up bar that is closed entirely way too early for an "adults pool"
The staff was very friendly The property was laid out very well
I had to leave
Good food, entertainment. Good value for money.
No transportation from the hotel. Minor problems with the tub but resolved when it was reported
The jerk chicken is excellent
The hotel was nice, the front desk staff was very attentive and nice. As well as the bartenders. For the price I paid I was satisfied.
All the restaurants were booked by the time we checked in for that day & following day. The host at the restaurant Tavern (I think that's what it's called) was rude when I asked him if he had a cancellation. The lady at guest relation was rude! We asked her for a suggestion where to go & she snapped back asking "where did we want to go?" Im sorry first time there I dont know. She suggested the Rosehall shops! She should not be working there. The shop area were about 15 watch stores, 2 souvenir shops & 1 alcohol store. The bed in the rooms were hard.
too much salt for some food.
Everything was good
The thing I didn't like was my family member drop me of at your hotel I would have like to show them around and buy them a drink but I was told I was not allowed to do this alittle bit disappointing
Nt a lot
I booked and paid for oceanview I got lss than 1/4 view of the ocean from my balcony. Being chewed up by mosquitos I reported this expecting them to spray my room I was told to go to the gift shop to buy something to spray my room and my bites. Hello!
The food was great at the buffet and the specialty restaurants.
The hotel needs to be updated in several areas and regular maintenance has been neglected. Also do not get a room facing the main pool unless you plan on staying up all night (building one or two pool side) with the music.
liked the pool, the bar, night time entertainment
room stated smoking but non smoking. the sea was dirty and smelt the buffet food was very poor compared to what i expected. not even worth the discounted rate i paid
