I would not recommend to stay here!
Their mission states:
To offer a true Arabian Bedouin experience to the visitor of Wadi Rum and ensuring a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Well, they did give me and my friend a once-in-a-lifetime experience; a horrible one!
I heard nothing but great reviews about this camp and a few bad ones. But what hotel or camp doesn't have a few bad reviews, you can't make everyone happy, right? I made this booking online through booking.com for three people. It was pricy, but we wanted to treat ourselves, after all, we are on vacation. As soon as I made the reservation, I had put in a request to the camp through booking, com to have them prepare mansaf (a traditional Jordanian dish). I received an e-mail from booking.com and it was confirmed that the request was sent to Captain's Desert Camp and that the camp will e-mail me with confirmation. This confirmation never came.
As my friends and I arrived at the camp, we were escorted to the desk and greeted by a man with a huge moustache and silver hair. He then informed us of the price of our stay and that the dinner would cost extra, since we made a Bed and Breakfast reservation. The man claimed that when a booking is made through booking.com, it only allows Bed and Breakfast and that dinner would be extra. My friend and I told that man behind the desk that we had no idea that dinner was extra because it said nothing of the sort while we booked it. WE WERE BOTH SHOCKED BECAUSE EVERY CAMP THAT I HAVE STAYED AT INCLUDES DINNER, AND I'VE BEEN TO A LOT OF CAMPS. I explained to this man behind the desk in a calm way, we were not yelling, although a bit bothered and we were just trying to understand what was going on.
We tried to work around it so that we can have dinner and no breakfast and eventually we were resolved to pay extra, because we were tired and hungry, but the man behind the desk just got irritated and shouted to the OWNER about us.
