We stayed at the Dana Moon for one night in late December 2014. When we arrived we were greeted by Suhaib, a friendly young man who speaks clear, elegant English (in fact, the next day as we hiking, he got news that he had received 98% on the challenging English baccalaureate exam--congratulations, Suhaib!). Suhaib got us settled into our room and then pointed out a quick hike we could take on our own before dinner. Dinner was served in Fienans Way Restaurant, which is attached to the Dana Moon. There was no menu, and it seemed that there was just one option available; that night it was a hearty, warming meal of lentil soup, salad, and stew with veggies and meatballs. I’m not sure if they would have been able to accommodate a vegetarian with some notice, but I suspect that they would try if you asked (I did not). The room was very modest, and the bathroom was shared, but there were conveniences such as WiFi (if you ask to access it) and an outlet for charging electronic devices. It was cold in Dana in December, but there were lots of blankets on the bed, and there was a space heater, although it was not recommended to let it run all night long. If you are sensitive to the cold, you might bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth—we had some with us and considered getting them out at one point. The next day after breakfast, we arranged for Suhaib to take us on an extended hike, as access to most of the trails around Dana require a guide. We were out for about 4 hours, with a tea break toward the end, and we saw some neat Nabatean caves and cool rock formations. As we were preparing to leave Dana, we noticed that one of our tires was a little low, but Suhaib took us to a local tire shop to have it filled. Thank you, Suhaib, we never would have found it on our own!
Can be chilly at night in the winter.
--All the staff are friendly and genuinely want guests to enjoy their time in Wadi Dana. Staff have good knowledge of area and outdoor hikes were great. Meals were simple and good. --We like roughing it in a place like Wadi Dana, and were willing to share a bathroom. Space for showering was good, but only one of two showers worked. Wadi Moon Hotel has friendly staff, but needs some work on grounds and facilities maintenance. We would have been willing to pay more, for better facilities in hotel room and bath. Perhaps owners need to pay for full time staff who can maintain premises better.
--Poor light in bedroom. Need brighter overhead light and bright lamps on bedside tables. --Bed linens insufficient--need a top sheet --Need shelves for storing personal items --Coat stand was broken--suggest removing and putting hooks on walls. --Communal bathroom needed attention. Bathroom doors need oiling--make a lot of noise in middle of night. --Not enough toilet paper--we had to ask often. --One of two showers was broken.
Everything was great, from the beginning to the end, good staff, good view, good vibes...
The speechless kind Staff. Amazing people in a wonder place
The hotel is located in the tiny, quaint Dana Village, only minutes from the Dana Biosphere Reserve. The price was great. Staff was very friendly and were concerned for our comfort, which was very much appreciated. The attached restaurant was a nice touch, as we the ability to have breakfast on the roof terrace.
The approach to Dana Village any time after sunset can be treacherous, navigating steep downhill slopes in the dark. Signage leading to the hotel is minimal. The rooms are pretty sparse and mosquitoes may be an issue, depending on the time of year - our room had holes in the window screens.Bathroom facilities are shared.
Hospitality and willingness to help. Location was great, having tea in the balcony with a view to the valley was amazing
Staff and facilities are Good, and location is far from town Tafielah. The map from Booking.com was wrong, that's maybe careless mistake.Dana Moon Hotel is in Dana village.
Great location, very helpful people
Very dim light bulb in the room - but it was only one such room, so hopefully the light might be replaced by the time you visit ;-)
the location is fantastic, in the heart fo the Dana reserve. The staff is very friendly, they have provided to us a guide to expolre the reserve, this guide was very chip and very useful, and very kind too. the restaurant close to the hotel served a good and chip dinner, but dont expect extralux place.
the rooms are a bit old
Dana is a beautiful location in nature. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good diner in the restaurant next to the hotel.
Difficult to find. GPS coordinates were 20 km wrong. Right coordinates are: N30.40.447' E 35.36.630' The hotel was very basic indeed, as we had already read. We have postponed taking a shower until the next hotel. There are better but more expensive options in Dana.
delicious food in the restaurant, good guidence for tours in the national reservate
you should know that you have to bring your own towels with you
