The rapidly expanding Jordanian capital, Amman is an economic powerhouse spread over various hills. Atop one sits the Citadel, containing remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, a Byzantine church and an 8th-century mosque and palace.
Also here is the Jordan Archaeological Museum, and at the foot of the hill is a Roman theatre, part built in the rock. Modern housing blocks surround it, but the most avant-garde architecture is in the developing Al Abdali business district.
The tallest Amman structures will be the Jordan Gate Towers and will house one of the city’s high-rise hotels. International brands of restaurants and bar can be found alongside more traditional cuisine in Amman, and many eateries are in the large Mecca Mall and Grand City Mall, which also has a cinema.
Nearby is the desert-like vegetation of Al Hussein National Park, and the Royal Automobile Museum which features cars of King Hussein, ruler for over 40 years and after whom are named city sights such as the King Hussein Business Park and mosque. The King Abdullah I Mosque has a beautiful blue dome, while Abu Darweesh Mosque at Amman’s highest point is a striking black-and-white structure.
Booking.com’s Amman accommodation includes 5-star hotels, apartments in the embassy district, and cheap hostels, all within easy reach of Queen Alia Airport.

Lack of recognizable food chains posed challenging food-searches but overall situation can be manageable. Traffic can be considered an issue and driving in Amman might be tricky (stick to uber / careem apps).

Amman is a great place to stay for a few days, even for someone like me who doesn't particularly enjoy city stays. Super easy to get around by walking, or by taxi (you can use the careem app or Uber), and many local buses go within Amman as well as buses to take you to other cities in the country. Options for local food are great for budget travelers (you can spend as little as 1 JD to get a good sandwich). I loved exploring the different neighborhoods around as well as the downtown area. Make sure to check out Hashem for its famous falafel and hummus. If you like Turkish bath houses, the Al-Pacha one was amazing and I would recommend it! The locals in the city are super friendly and helpful and not as pushy to sell you things or trying to take advantage of you which is also amazing.

A very authentic experience.
A very authentic experience. This was the first Arabic city I ever visited and I loved it. The landscape has a lot of hills so you should wear comfortable shoes and be ready to go up and down all the time.
Locals are very friendly and cheerful.
When it comes to food, you can find everything from cheap (but delicious) local food for as low as 1 EUR for a falafel set to posh, exquisite restaurants with a menu in English in the city center.
The whole city is a huge bazaar where you can buy anything.
There are not so many historic landmarks but the Citadel and the Roman Theater are nice, and the view from there is charming.

i would definitely recommend this city for travelers because it is a charming and colorful town it is true that it is a big city one of the biggest in the Middle East but it has everything for everyone. restaurants, bars old ruins, shops new ones and old style a like And it has wonderful and kind people anytime ready to help and to make your stay a wonderful experience. Moving around is easy despite the traffic could be hard sometimes, there are massive traffic jams at the rush hours but there are a great deal of taxis they are yellow and use meters the price is not high There is also Uber and the local Careem
Places to go, rainbow street for many it is the most beautiful street in Amman, you may try the best falafel in the Middle East at Al Quds there are many bars and restaurants and shops that sell souvenirs some good stuff. Downtown is a bustling area we bought coffee from one of the oldest coffee shops in town, there are also I think 3 Habiba sweets that sell baclava and kunafeh made in many ways The habiba sweets shop between King Faisal square and K Ghazi street it is said to be the original but they all have delicious sweets
The new area in the Abdali the Abdali boulevard and the Abdali Mall are worth a night out
The citadel is a must it is inhabited from the old times it was the center of the kingdom of Ammon and there are ruins from the period of the Romans and the Byzantines and also the Omayyad also a must is the roman theater in the Hashemite Square
For going out one may try the Paris Square in Jabal al Lweibdeh
Amman is the capital of an amazing country, it is a safe place to go
I loved it

Amman is a fantastic city with wonderful people who are trustworthy and with integrity. They are respectful and appreciative of tourists and aren't overtly out to get you.
The food is absolutely fantastic here and really cheap for what you get.
Amman itself is also great for shopping and seeing beautiful historic sites. I suggest eating where the locals eat and they are for the most part able to understand a little bit of English everywhere you go.

We thought Amman was desert city like Cairo.
We thought Amman was desert city like Cairo. But we were wrong. Its a beautiful modern, clean city. People are very friendly and welcoming. Foods are amazing. The weather is perfect. There are also hills within the city. Beside the Petra, there are more to see. I would strongly recommend to visit Wadi Ram. It was unreal experience. I will definitely go back again just for Wadi Ram overnight experience and foods. It was very easy for us to use uber there. Uber is much cheaper than taxi. Al Quds restaurant foods were really good.
Truly, one of the best and most beautiful hotels we have ever visited! The staff was exceptional, they went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. The rooms were very clean and extremely comfortable. The food and service were amazing. The location is perfect! We will come back very soon for sure. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Amman! Our weekend was extraordinary, thanks to every staff member we encountered, they were all delightful and always eager to help! Thank you so much.
Everything!!! The hotel and the people who run it made me feel like this was my home away from home! The room was so so cozy. The staff was out of this world…I happened to be the only one for breakfast and they made the biggest, most delicious spread I’ve seen to date! I decided to rent a vehicle to tour around Jordan and was given hints and tips about what to/what not to do as well as lovely dinner suggestions! The property is conveniently located where I could walk everywhere to see the sites in Amman.
We stayed at the Amman Pasha hotel for three nights, one night in the beginning of our trip and two nights at the end of our trip. Here is the list of pros and cons on staying at this hotel.
Pros
1. The staff is super helpful. Louie help me arrange transportation for my whole trip.
2. Location. It was walking distance from almost everything we wanted to see.
3. Pricing. This was a budget hotel, so the cost for the location was a value.
Very friendly staff, super helpful. The breakfast was also good buffet jordinan style. The room was clean and housekeeping everyday cleaned properly. The location was perfect to walk to roman theater and citadel. The hotel arranged private driver for us to visit petra and jerash. If you like a privar car please book with Hassan (driver), he speaks excellent English and has a lot of knowlegde about Jordan and Amman. He made our trip memorable.
It’s a pleasant stay in Amman but quite far from downtown yet it’s located in quite neighborhood. The rooms are clean but our room smelled cigarette at the time we checked in. The receptionist also gave my parent’s room an upgrade which is truly appreciated. The chef during breakfast was kind and accommodating. We also had a chance to meet the GM of hotel which is a friend of our driver/guide in Jordan. Relatively good place to stay in Amman.
We wanted to book a hotel near downtown, upon checking reviews in Booking went blindly and booked the hotel, it exceeded our expectations, situated very near to the downtown and famous restaurant Hashems, Thair was a wonderful host, and ensured our stay was very comfortable, we ended up chatting for hours talking about Jordan and Amman. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Thank you Thair for being such a wonderful host!
The hotel is ideally located near the city center but is on a quiet street, the reception and staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are a good size, overall the hotel is very good value. We enjoyed our stay at new park hotel. We stayed here arriving in Jordan and even booked here again at the end of our vacation before leaving from Amman Airport. We would stay here again :)
Location - the hotel is just in front of the Roman Theater and in downtown Amman.
Stayed on the room with shared WC, but cleanliness of the WC is highly maintained, staff regularly cleans the area.
The reception staff are very friendly, accommodating and helpful, they will give you best advice to ensure you have a great stay in Jordan. Their breakfast is a complete set meal.
Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Very comfortable & clean. Unique concept with each room being named after a Jordanian music artist. Has a restaurant attached which is an outdoor garden -serves food/drinks all day & has a good atmosphere in the evenings.
Location is good - a 25 min walk or 8 min taxi ride to downtown Amman.
I like the service and the friendliness of the staff at Sandra Hotel. When I arrived in Amman on the 25th May I stayed at this hotel and they were very helpful so at the end of my travelling around Jordan and Israel I decided to come back here where I was well looked after and received great advice. I highly reccommended
Perfect location, the hotel is right in the center of the city, it’s a nice starting point to see the main attractions in Amman. The breakfast was good, and we even got a nice “box” breakfast to takeout the day we went to Petra. The staff is super friendly (like almost everyone in Jordan), a special thanks to Habib!
All the staff were extremely helpful and always went the extra mile. Although it is slightly out of the city centre the hotel can arrange a car very quickly into town which made it very easy to do all the sites of Amman.
The room was very clean and we got to use the pool and have Jordanian food during the stay.
They are very welcoming and took the time to give us a lot of useful information about Jordan.
The room was super clean and the bed very comfortable. They also have a really nice terrasse with a view on Amman.
Last but not least, the hotel is very well located and you can park your car for free in the street.
I loved the place! Probably the only 5 stars hotel in Jordan. Forget about the Marriott, Hilton, Intercontinental and Hyatt, their local version is very poor. The House offers very professional service and great interiors. The only cons: a pretty poor breakfast.
One of the best hotel in Amman. Very good location! Very close to many spots. Clean and with comfortable bed. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I like their 24 hours free coffee/tea, chocolates and juice at the lobby😍Highly recommended this hotel!
Best hotel in amman, truely we LOVED it. I really recommend booking there, for local people and for travellers. What a great experience!! location is perfect, staff treatment is great, hotel gives vibes beginning from entrance till rooms
The hotel is very new, clean and comfortable. Employees were welcoming and helpful. Shoutout to our friend Omar at the recipient, he answered all our questions about Amman and gave us a great list of places to visit around the city.
All the Hotel Staff exceeded expectations; they were amazing, very helpful, friendly and they made our stay so comfortable
The location is one of the best in Amman
The breakfast (in the room) was very good
The room was spacious
Location, friendly of staff, facilities and everything was just perfect. It was our anniversary and everyone in the hotel did his best to make our occasion outstanding. No doubt I will be return again to Hilton Amman.
