Walking downhill to Petra entrance. Nice 15 minutes. Walking uphill to return to the hotel can be a challenge!
I was the only guest and should have received a room with city view. I got the impression that my presence bothered the staff.
The way Odai woke me up
The owner's fairness "his father" and the little girl 'his sister' way of dealing with guests!
- Before coming, I requested to send me the exact directions to the hostel and I never had a reply. - In The 1st night, I reserved a bed in a mixed dormitory room, but once I arrived, I found the reception boy "Odai" mentioning that I can't stay in it claiming that I may harass the foreign girls! I requested a male one, then he claimed that some foreigners, again, got stolen from "Arabs" and I should bring a letter from the secret service to stay in one or reserve a single room which is more expensive! The owner, I guess his father, came and mentioned that he is our brother and get him a bed in a dormitory, where he ordered room no. 117; I went up to find no electricity, where I had to wait half an hour to replace the lambs in the room but there would be no light for the bathroom! The TV wasn't working as claimed that there were be a satellite TV, the toilet is almost broken, the bath door has no lock and even with a little hole where the one in the room can see you, the sheets seem not clean, he refused to give me the key of the room and claimed that the wifi is not working due to rains even after my surface found the network, he didn't give me the password! - In the the 1st day, I went to do a prayer and he ran after me to investigate where I'm going, and when I finished it, I came to find the hostel closed where I had to knock on the door to wake him up although they mentioned 24h working! Later on, he found me formed a friendship with another guest 'who was US citizen with Arabian origins where he was told that his booking is canceled and he has to make a new one but in a single room -which I found double the price of the dormitory-' where I took the opportunity to ask him for the password in front of the other guest, so he had no choice then, but after that guest checked out, I found him changed the password -where later on I understood why he is afraid of me having internet access-!
i stayed at the Sun Rise Hotel i booked for five night and was excellent the room was very clean and the room had hot and cold running water and breakfast was very nice , we meet the owner of the hotel and he organize our trips and it was very cheap and excellent, i would recommend this hotel to any one
Location is convenient
In the morning I was expecting a breakfast; instead I was charged for hot tea
The location - easy to get taxis, and taxi drivers know the area where the hotel is, also its close to the downtown area, which is in walking distance
Firstly,I organised for an airport pick-up,which I didn't get! I ended up taking a taxi, which cost me more (the driver said that he stood at the back of the crowd at arrivals with the hotel sign, even though I walked passed twice!); I paid for a room with internet but didn't get it; My room included breakfast but out of the 2 weeks that I stayed there, I only got breakfast twice; according to the website, the breakfast could be served in my room, which didn't happen, and on my first night when I inquired about breakfast, they wanted to charge me and I got different times; I was without hot water for 3 days; I didn't have air conditioning for 4 days because they couldn't give me a remote for the A/C (only one remote for guests to share and the one guest kept it!); There was no wifi in the public area for 4 days (they said it was a small problem); There is no housekeeping - so rooms don't get cleaned, including the bathrooms, beds don't get made,no clean linen, you have to throw your own rubbish away, and no toilet paper is provided Plugs are high up on the wall, which made charging mobile and laptop very awkward; The only "cupboard" in the room was a bedside table,so I had to live out of my suitcase for 2 weeks; There is no room service and no laundry/ironing services,no on-site restaurant,no newspapers,no snack bar as advertised on their website; TV in the room worked but had no sound; No visitors were allowed to my room!I found out when I had a friend with me,who was also a local Jordanian man.I was greatly offended and my friend disrespected. It happened twice before that I had friends to my room but then I was told that the girl at the front desk didn't know; and the reason: there are other nationalities in the hotel, which is a lie - it's not legal and not hotel policy!
I stayed in this hotel for one night . The staff was excellent, and the location was very good - closed to everywhere. The manager organized a wonderful trip across all the country for me, it was perfect. I had a good rest and saw the beautiful places. The room was clean, there was an air condition, hot and cold water. I liked everything, thanks for that.
Very cheap price
We booked with the hotel manager a taxi to take us to the Israeli border. When we got in to the taxi there wass another person, who didn't pay anything and made us deviate 20 minutes to the aiport (the taxi was private). After a few days I left the hotel, they clasified me as "No show" evem though is was the amount of days planed in the original reservation. They did this to get the payment of the first night (again). The breakfast doesn't exist.
Sort of walking distance to Citadel and Roman theatre (+- 2km with a steep hill)
Worms in shower Staying in staff room with cleaning lady in non air-conditioned room Staff didn't want to give me WiFi password for the free WiFi When wanting to cancel arranged taxi, they didn't want to give me my luggage until I agreed to use their taxi Being accused of not paying for the hotel while driver was taking me to the airport, even though I had paid the night before Chauvinistic, disrespectful men running the place, claiming to be so holy but trying to rip you off at every opportunity
It has airconditioner in the room.
Plumbing problems, unable to leave the hotel early because the receptionist is asleep.
I stayed in this hotel for about a week. The staff was excellent, and the location was very good - closed to everywhere. The manager organized a wonderful trip across all the country for me, it was perfect. I had a good rest and saw the beautiful places. The food was also very tasty. The room was clean, there was an air condition, hot and cold water. I liked everything, thanks for that.
nothing.....do not think even cross its road.....
terrible! very dirty, the staff was rude and the facilities poor enough..
Staff, Facilities, Cleanliness
Te location, the facilities
Staffs could be more cordial
Cheap, did have hot water. WiFi in lobby only.
They put me in the room with the maid and she was so upset I was there. At two points, she told me I may be locked out of the room if she is sleeping when I come back. They will not let me have a key. Unlike mentioned on the website, no breakfast and no WiFi in rooms. Like other reviews single woman beware and watch out for sales pitches. Location is 20 min away from jett station uphill and 25 min from downtown. Basically, far from anything.
Although breakfast was suppose to be included there was no breakfast offered. No one to clean. Staff are bunch of kids escaped from school. I can say it is the most regretted experience I ever had. Shame on them calling that garbage place as a hotel. And shame on booking.com listing it. Thanks Mohammed
We decided to look for a cheaper alternative during our stay in Amman, since it was relatively expensive in terms of day tours, food and transportation. Our experience in Sun Rise was far from being welcomed as we had gently tried to reject an initial offer made by the "manager" for organising a 2 days trip around Jordan. After much persuasion from the "manager", we decided to accept a day trip under his 'recommendation' even though we had tried so hard to refuse him. He was good at selling his 'products' and in return we had to give in, because we were generally too tired to keep refusing his offer(s). We had to wait for more than 2 hours to settle into our "room" which by far was anything but decent. The room smelled of cigarette smoke which lingers throughout our stay. When we tried to ask for hot drinking water for our coffee and cup noodles one evening, we were denied and was casually informed that we could purchase hot drinking water from various stalls next to the hotel. It was not a pleasant experience for the 3 nights that we had spent there. We didn't even DARE to ask for breakfast, not knowing what goes into our meals! Although the good thing was the day trip organised by the "manager". Our driver, Ibrahim was very accommodating and speaks good English. We would highly recommend hotels that is situated near to Downtown area or somewhere near to Roman Theatre instead. A good accommodation will give your days in Amman a more joyous and interesting experience. The Jordanians are extremely friendly people.
Nothing, not even the location!
This is the worst hotel in this world I have ever been so far. Of course, I wouldn't expect more than the value of money I paid, but there are other issues that show how bad this hotel is. Simply, do NOT ever consider staying at this hotel even if it's FREE! 1. The staff is so rude. The father and the son are simply trying to torture their customers mentally, i.e., making them wait for 15-20 mins to pretend to look for their names on the list, preparing the invoice very late, speaking at a rude voice tone and etc. 2. They keep asking and asking you to take their city tour (they first say it is 45 JD, but then make it 35 JD since you are from country X!) by taxi, which would normally cost about 10-15 JD max if you can have a deal with a driver by yourself, or their Petra, Jerash and Madaba tours. Do NOT ACCEPT their offers AT ALL. They forced me to take their taxi to go to the Queen Alia Airport for 25 JD, which would again normally cost 15 JD. They just say it is the price that the Jordanian government forces and that day is very busy to find a taxi. Wow, these people were incredible to fool customers, that I understood that they were simply lying. I really wish I did not accept their offer. 3. The first day you go to the hotel, they attack you to take their offers. The all prices they mention is overinflated compared to normal prices. Just simply SAY NO to their useless offers. 4. The rooms are very cold. The window is kind of broken and you can easily get sick at night! 5. Even an animal would not live in the room I lived in, as there is no towel in the room, no soap, no shampoo, nothing...No exaggaration! 6. Breakfast: You keep asking them to prepare your breakfast, and it almost took 20-25 mins for me to get my breakfast. They make you beg them to get your breakfast! 7. The internet in the lobby is fast enough, yet there is no wi-fi in the rooms that they advertise on booking.com 8.
Plumbing and electrics all worked. Water was hot. No sign of bed bugs ... always a bonus !! You get what you pay for, Amman is not a cheap place so its pretty good value if you just need a place to kip for the night.
My room was very drab and dark, but not all are ... if possible make sure you get a balcony room. Can be very noisy at night so make sure you have ear plugs to hand. Staff can be a nuisance as they always want to talk to you and most of the time they talk utter nonsense. Solo female travelers beware!! ... The old man will almost certainly try to hit on you and tell you about how amazingly virile he is because of all the camel milk he drinks ... much more information that is necessary.
The hotel Is very near to the bus station
Staff is unhelpful Bad smelling and relatively dirty rooms Had to wait to long for a room
Only reason for being there because relatively close to Jett bus station. Very very basic but clean.
No toilet paper or towel supplied. Nothing really worked.
easy to find good facilities for the price fast wifi
some staff was helpful, but a staff member spend so much time to recommend me an expensive tour and I didnt want it at all.
Good location for market shopping and price, but there were some problems with the management.
I never got an email confirmation from the hotel about airport pick-up. I had to call long distance to London twice, once from southern Sinai airport and again after arrival in Amman. I was told it was too late, and when I got myself there the room shower did not work. The manager later told booking dot com that I was a no-show. Luckily I had taken a video of the room and could use it as proof that I did in fact stay there. The manager later told booking dot com that a car had been sent but the plane was a little late but fell within the time that the alleged driver was said to have been there and no one with a sign was at the arrivals exit and the whole story conflicted with what I was told by the manager upon arrival (that he only got the word a half an hour before I arrived, from booking. Apparently they had not read the request in the original booking a few days beforehand. They also told booking dot com that I refused the fee for the driver whereas I was never even asked about it and as stated above they told me that booking dot com only contacted them a half an hour before I called from Amman airport. Thus they tried to get a cash payment as well as a no-show fee. I would have stayed longer despite the non-pick-up but without a working shower and the night clerlk, after talking to the manager on the phone, instead of changing the room, made me walk to another room down the hall to take a shower. This was the same night clerk who, after I returned from shopping outside, was hesitant/slow in opening the door to let me inside. No internet access code was given on check-in and the room was very cold. Thre is an open vent in the door and I had to listen to loud Arabic men talking in another room before I got tired of that and went shopping in the market. It may be an o.k. place to stay but without a working shower and no room change I could not justify staying there more than one night.
They didn't give room until next day, impolite staff & it was a dirty hotel
good location; very helpful owner and his son; gave me big discount for Madaba, Mt Nebo and Dead Sea tour (including airport transfer)
