- Helpful manager/ owner - Location - Homely atmosphere
- Breakfast - No lifts. Have to carry your bags up the stairs (The manager offed help).
-Friendly atmosphere, felt at home, as cliche as it may sound! - Probably the best bed I ever had... Super comfortable, super big (I asked for king size) - Rooms are super clean, room service is great - Nice courtyard at the back of the hotel! - Possibility to make laundry - Strategic location, walking distance to Rainbow Street and downtown (Jafra, Habiba, Al Qods...) -Dia & Tareq are truly amazing! Not to mention Boogie the cat... In a few words, I loved it all!
A wonderful stay with very hospitable & helping staff. It is walking distance from most of attractions in Amman, clean & hygienic. The staff is actually like your friend in a foreign land who provides appropriate guidance for your travel needs at cheapest possible price. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place which is 'Perfect value for money' in Amman !!!
Very central location, and on a rather quiet stretch of street too. Large common area with a warm cozy feeling. Good breakfast. Excellent staff. Well managed.
The building as a whole and many of the dorms feel very old and even a bit rundown from previous owners, but the current owners seem to work hard at fixing it and keeping it clean.
Good location, close to important streets. Breakfast better than expected.
No room cleaning, poor toiletries, strong smell in the room.
Ideal place for visiting Amman, close to the centre. A basic hotel with hostel-vibes. Thanks for the great stay guys! Must Go! + Great Location + Very Friendly And Helpfull Staff + Nice Basic Rooms + Good Beds + Nice Terras & Nice Lobby + Boogie (The Cat)
Loved the staff and feeling comfortable
Nothing, this place was perfect

No view - window was looking into adjacent wall.
Nice staff, gives information, great location, clean room, cosy lounge
The common bathroom, 1 JD for a tea/coffee
Friendly and helpful staff, conveniently located and free good speed wifi
Can't bring in guess
good value for money and friendly staff. can't complain for a budget hostel!
bathroom could be improved. there were times where I had to wait quite a while to go to the bathroom
I arrived to this hotel at 01.00 am with taxi arranged by the hotel. It was after midnight, and I was terribly tired after having long flights. My first impression was the hotel is old (of course, it’s not five star hotel), neighborhood area is a bit dark and many government building surrounding. Next day, I found that the hotel is located in the center of old town of Amman, enabling me to walk around easily. Rainbow Street is just behind the building and could be reached in 5 minutes walking. I had no problems walking during the night. The location is excellent. There are many restaurants around such as Hassem Restaurant, which is very famous with its Jordanian food, Jafra Caffe etc. Citadel and Roman Theatre are also not far. My Single Room is big, with bathroom inside, and clean. The prices are good and reasonable. WIFIs are working very good everywhere. Hotel staffs are Superb. They arranged taxi driver to pick me from the airport (with the good rate), and the driver was on time. Tarek, one of the staffs, he was very informative, informing me where the places to go, to see and to eat. He did the best to make me feel comfortable as much as possible. He found me travel mates to go to the Dead Sea, so I could share taxi cost with them. I didn’t need to worry anytime I wanted to go somewhere, Tareek could find me good taxi drivers, also with good prices. And the atmosphere, it was extremely friendly. The lobby was so comfy with comfortable couches and many books in the shelves. It’s nice place to meet people and hang around. I felt like at home, with many friendly and nice guests to chat with. I stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. If you want the luxury one, of course, this is not the place that you look for. But if you look for place to stay with the good prices, good location, informative and friendly staffs, nice people around and friendly environment, Sydney Hotel is the best. Sydney Hotel was my home in Amman.
the hotel overall is good, which holds a good environment and fast speed wifi. a little bit hard to find the location, and the balcony is awesome.
the washroom is small some area is not very clean
The location is good.Just a few minutes walk to rainbow street where you can find a lot of restaurants.Close to Citadel and Roman Theater. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful especially Tariq and Mara. Nice patio to chill with friends and meet other in-house guest from other countries. Good value for money.
The hotel shared bathroom facilities needs improvement.
- Hosts were friendly
- I think they didn't clean after the last guest (cigaretts on balcony, used towel in bathroom) - Very loud at nights
Super helpful staff. Great central location. Older dormitory feel, but spacious and very clean. Nice garden area and lobby where guests and staff can interact. Secure building.
If you are looking for something 'upscale,' this isn't for you. But also be prepared to pay a lot more.
I spent three nights at the Sydney Hotel, and found it very pleasant. All the staff was very friendly and helpful - particularly Diya, who arranged an airport pickup and a cab ride for me to the Israel border crossing. After one night, they upgraded me to a bigger room. The breakfast was simple but a good start to the day. And there was a comfortable hostel feel about the common areas, which were available all day. For me, the Sydney Hotel was a great place, and excellent value for my stay in Amman.
Friendly, helpful staff; clean beds and bathrooms (dorm); nice, communal vibe and very easy to meet other travelers.
The hostel is clean with a nice patio to chill. The staff is very helpful and of great help to organize tours. Very good location close to Rainbow and downtown.
Great Hotel for the lonely traveler or for the whole family. Sydney has a wonderful atmosphere. It almost felt like you are staying in a friend's home. We had a three generation reunion, all from different parts of the world, and all were happy that we chose Sydney Hotel. Will definitely stay there again if in Amman.
I really liked the staff that have been really helpful in helping me organize my trip in Jordan. They got me some great value deal for tours. The hostel itself is also very clean, the dorm simple but well arranged with free wifi. Also the fact that it is a non smoking environment inside (rare in Jordan) is a plus. Finally the very nice patio were we can chill and meet other backpackers.
The staff at Sydney Hotel were wonderful and very nice. Tariq was incredibly friendly and always came to help us with any questions. He let us borrow a bowl to use when we got cereal and milk; helped us when the toilet wouldn't flush properly; helped us with laundry, etc. He is really an amazing person and very attentive, as is the other staff member whose name I don't recall. We stayed in Room 101 (triple single beds), which is conveniently located right near the front desk. The beds are comfortable despite a thin mattress and I liked the comforter - fresh and not heavy. There is an AC unit in the room which works great, though at night it gets fresh here. The mini fridge provided ample space to store several large 1.5 L bottles of water, milk, deli chicken, etc., there is a TV (we didn't use it), a desk with mirror, 2 sm. night tables, and an armoire with plenty of hangers for your clothes. The breakfast was pretty good too - hard boiled eggs, pita bread, butter, jams, salami (or bologna), fresh tomatoes, olives, orange drink, water, tea, coffee, and some packaged little cakes (like pound cakes). There is a washing machine available in the hotel - with soap and softener provided - for 3 JOD if you do it yourself; you can then let your clothes dry on a rack right near the machine. I really liked how Tariq and his staff were always available to help, and were genuinely interested in how your day went and if you needed anything. The location of the hotel is great too - you are about 10 min. from the infamous Rainbow St. (a few min. longer if you walk slower uphill), and close to many markets, stores, and other shops. I stayed here with my dad (67 yrs.) and son (10 yrs.), and both enjoyed our time at the hotel. Also, if you are a tea/coffee drinker, there is some available (for purchase) anytime, which was nice, and there is also a microwave available in case you want to reheat your food.
A few improvements to make this hotel even better: * there are not many electrical outlets to plug your things in, especially if you are coming with others. In our room, we found only one free plug behind the TV, and also unplugged the TV to get a 2nd one. Perhaps bring a mini travel size extension to plug in more things if needed. * water pressure isn't that strong at all, but it seems like that is a function of the water system than the hotel. However, there are specific times when hot water is available, though I found it available at all times (maybe it stayed heated?). * the shower curtain does not do a good job of keeping the water inside the shower; as a result, there was water all over the floor. * on the same note, the faucet is quite high from the sink. Whenever you turn it on to wash your hands or your face, it makes a mess and water goes onto the toilet and floor. * housecleaning wasn't consistent - on the days we left early, sometimes are beds weren't made or the trash wasn't taken out. This wasn't a huge deal, but since the trash can wasn't big, we had to pile our garbage. However, Tariq was always willing to help and took out our garbage. He is extremely attentive.
Beautiful sunsets, and a great breakfast. Good for backpackers. Jane is willing to help out if you need her.
Distance from Petra, and shops/restaurants within Wadi Musa.
For a hostel in Jordan it was clean and comfortable.
The front-desk guy "organized" a taxi for us to the airport, and charged us an extra 5 JD for himself, and the guy who picked us up was his friend, not a taxi driver. Shady.
