Umm Qais Hotel

I was glad there was a hotel in Quais at all since I wanted to spend a couple of days exploring the ruins. My room was clean and had a lovely view over the mountains.

The place is shabby. The reception area gives you the impression that the owners can't really be bothered and this is a project they have started to give their boys something to do.

Location. Staff is nice and friendly. I wish they do more because the location is good and you don't have to travel all the way from Ibrid to be in Umm Qays so you have advantage of themorning sun which was beautiful.

The room is dirty. They never wash the toilet nor the sink nor vacuum the floor. Ashtray was still full when we checked in and there was still leftover Pepsi bottle when we came in. Upgrade your towels as well please.

Very conveniently located, friendly and helpful staff. Big rooms.

Poor maintenance, infested by mosquitos (end of October).

This is a remote place in northen Jordan with few tourist for 15 jd the room was good. This is a very simple hotel but the staff was very friendly. After all it was possible to stay overnight in one of Jordans more interesting areas at the Golan Hights. Rooms and beddings are clean, shower and toilet working. You will most likely be the only tourist in this hotel. Umm Qais town is very nice and people in the city friendly. However be on gaurd at the Umm Qais ruin which overcharge people for a tour to the sensitive border area. Drive around the ruin and check at the military post if you are let in to the view point to see lake Tiberias (Genesaret) and Golan highhts. If you are not allowed to visit drive into the city again and up to the highest point to the left and walk in to see the lake Tiberias and Golan Hights more or less the same but free of charge. Don´t miss the drive from Umm Qais to Shune following the border with Israel

As said earlier this is a very simple hotel. Stair and walkway in the hotel is a bit dirty but for 15 jd it´s ok.

We stayed in the 3 room apartment (such value at only 60jd per night!!!)and were very happy. The proprietor made us a lovely dinner for only 5jd each and next day took us to Al Humma to the Roman baths - you definitely should go there! There is a lovely bakery right in front with delicious bread. There is only the one hotel in town though there are 'rent a rooms' which we didn't check out. There is one main road in UmQais so everything is handy - the ruins are just a short walk away. The townspeople are very friendly and you're sure to get offered a cuppa by someone.

There were a few things that might have improved the room standard: the toilet was loose on the floor so you had to sit carefully or be tipped off, the tap dripped, the kitchen was bare however, the proprietor was happy to bring us hot water and cups when we asked. I also think the pillows could have been replaced with softer ones - they were old and like bricks! We mentioned these things so perhaps they'll be fixed (?).

La proximité avec le site archéologique est un plus indéniable. Le personnel qui s'efforce réellement pour que tout se passe pour le mieux. Petit déjeuné

La salle de bain qui est assez vétuste. La présence du plus gros cafard que je n'ai jamais vu de ma vie dans cette même salle de bain.

Pas de drap adapaté au grand lit ; Dommage que pas de clim ; Salle de bains propre mais "en chantier"

Tout, pas de salle de bain comme précisé, vous avez dit douche ???? wc à la turc, poubelle wc pas vidée !!!! état général de cet équipement lamentable.

Kaum zu findende Absteige, Primitive Verhältnisse, Wasser- und Strominstallation gefährlich, Dusche funktioniert nicht. Tür zum Zimmer klemmt und lässt sich kaum öffnen, Treppenhaus ohne Geländer, ziemlich verdreckt, aber viel Platz. Preis völlig unangemessen. Für solche Herbergen, die man eher als Backpacker besucht, zahlt man 1/10 des geforderten Preises!

Le prix est un peu surfait pour la région et la qualité. Il a facturé des taxes en plus du prix annoncé

The staff were very accomodating and did allow us to change rooms and gave us extra bedding when we finally asked. Low end backpackers place, would recommend bringing your own sleeping sheets and ear plugs.

We chose this hotel for the location. However it is on the main road and was quite noisy until past midnight. The bed was firm and only had a bottom sheet. The pillow was also very hard. The room did not seem to be very clean.
