Although is a budget hotel, service is excellent. Location was great, just a couple minutes walk to ski slope. The family run hotel, was very friendly and take great effort to make us feel comfortable. The son even drive us around the small town to recommend us good food to eat. That was excellent. I will higher recommend anyone to stay there for a short visit. Value for money. Overall we are very happy with our stay.

The onsen is a bit old. The room has no shower. We have to take shower in onsen. Will be great if there is shower in the room.

    It's a nice clean hotel.

I've stayed here before and it had a very Japanese feel, not so much now. The main staff are american, you can now wear your shoes inside and it's full of westerners. Not really what I look for when traveling to Japan.

varied breakfast selection, which was nice. english-speaking staff was really helpful. good price in comparison. only 2 minute walk to closest ski run. 5 minute walk to main road w multiple (good) restaurants.

Lobbies & hallways quite cold. suggest doubled futon.

An oldie but a goldie . a bit confusing at first ( seems to been added to building wise over the years ) . the two foreign guys ( Dan and Fred ) really ran the show for us foreigners . price was right , western or Japanese breakfast . about 20 steps to the Akakura onsen ski field . Suginohara is the best skifield here , about 40 mins by free bus or 10 mins and 3000 yen by taxi .

40 min bus ride to suginohara ski field .
